Once you meet with the doctor all fees are again explained thoroughly. There are no surprises to costs. Working with many doctors in the field of Functional medicine, Dr. Tieche's fees and prices are fair-market value with some being less than what is typically charged. One aspect that stood out during my time as a patient at Dr. Tieche's practice was the multiple communication channels available to keep patients informed about their appointments. Three things were done incorrectly. 1. No preparation was made to the skin prior to the surgery. No scrub or alcohol, etcetera. 2. Due to the lack of preparation, the steri strips did not adhere to my skin. 3. The technician failed to use a large enough clear cover over the steri strips, so when the steri strips detached, so did the covering. See attached image. I chose this clinic because of the positive reviews, but my actual experience was deeply disappointing. From the moment I walked in, the staff felt cold and passive-aggressive. When I mentioned I had never had a pap smear before, I was told I was being "irresponsible"--a comment that was both unhelpful and shaming. After I tested positive, I returned for a follow-up, and the nurse, Cindy, made snide remarks about how "disgusting" and "common" STDs are. Instead of receiving care and empathy, I left feeling judged and humiliated. At the time, I felt pressured to leave a 5-star review because I was directly asked to, and I didn't fully process how inappropriate the experience had been until speaking with a new provider. What's especially upsetting is receiving a message from Cindy years later, holding up a sign with my name asking for a review. It instantly brought back all the shame and anxiety I felt in that office. For someone who experienced real trauma during that visit, being contacted this way is jarring and extremely insensitive. I wanted to try the service, see how it felt, and begin building a relationship with them since they have multiple locations in the area. Here is where things got complicated. I showed up at what I believed was the correct location in Ocala, only to find out my appointment was actually booked for the Lady Lake office. There was absolutely no way I was going to make it there in time. Honest mistake, but a mistake nonetheless. What surprised me was that the Ocala location would not honor the $99 promotional price. There was quite a bit of back and forth discussion with the manager. I generally have very smooth, easy interactions with local businesses and their teams, so this felt unusually tense and disconcerting for me. It was not the kind of interaction I am used to having. The sticking point was clear. The promotional pricing was tied specifically to the Lady Lake location and could not be transferred. You had to physically be at that office to receive that price. Policies are policies, I understand that. But as a customer who was actively trying to give them business and establish ongoing care, it felt rigid. What also stood out to me is that there seems to be a lot of marketing layers around these promotions. Special pricing, specific days, specific locations, fine print attached. For a wellness clinic, it felt more complicated than it needed to be. That said, I am not writing them off. I am still willing to try again because I do like the concept of what they offer and I would prefer to build a relationship with a local clinic that has multiple locations. However, my next interaction will matter. If the experience is smooth, professional, and straightforward, I am happy to continue. If it feels complicated again, that will likely make the decision for me. For now, I would say just double check your location before you go and make sure you understand which office is tied to which promotion. It may save you a bit of frustration.
