Best gelato in Venice!!! It's in a quiet piazza with a place to sit inside. The owner is super nice.

Authentica Gelateria Artiganale - My pick: bacci (hazelnut) and chocolate in a homemade sugar cone.

Grom was always my fave place in the Wevil, NYC, but I wanted to try something new since it's a chain. Well, luckily for me I stumbled upon this place that had zero reviews (odd). For two flavours you must order a medium at 2,50 euros which seemed to be a Florence-Venice small but the cones were fresh and delicious. The girl working there was quite patient with my photos and testing and she told me that they had two locations. I noticed that they had lots of sorbets and frozen yogurt from a machine, but of course I stuck with my standby hazelnut and chocolate which I love, and the rest of the selection seemed smaller than the usual. The gelato was stored properly in stainless steel bins which made it seem more authentic and more fresh than the pile-it-high places. It did drip fast but if you are quick you can turn right upon leaving and sit in Campo San Margarita square on one of the few benches to eat. Just watch for the pigeons and little Italian ladies who might steal the end of your bench and leave you very little room while they merrily complete their crosswords (which was pretty funny). Luckily for us, we did not get hit by anything and it was such a nice break from all of the cars and Vespas that we previously had to dodge in Roma and Firenze!

None of them has disappointed me and the staff is always absolutely fantastic. The best ice cream in Venice for me and my friends.

Bacaro del Gelato - Momoeto + dark chocolate with a pistachio butter ripple. Will think longingly of it from my non existent gelato hometown!

But came back the next day for some Cicchetti next door (Vino Vero). But this time a lot less visitors, so we decided to try some of their gelato. And what a fantastic gelato place this turned out to be! Lots of wonderful flavors. All the classic and some more adventurous ones. We went for the Tiramisu and the Amarena (sour cherries). The gelato has a perfect texture. Very rich, very creamy. Nice flavors, the Amarena not too sweet and not too sour. The Tiramisu a perfect choice if you feel like some Tiramisu, but also feel like some ice cream. It was nice to sit at the canal enjoying the ice cream. Staff was friendly, prices for the quality really fair.

I made it a point to visit Bacaro del Gelato in the Cannaregio district, and it was easily one of the best food decisions of the journey. Their small-batch menu features incredible artisanal offerings, ranging from a refreshing lemon sorbet to their famous, rich Cremino al Pistacchio. While every flavor my group tried was fantastic, the classic chocolate was my absolute favorite. It was incredibly smooth, deep, and perfectly balanced.
