They had everything I needed and things that I didn't even know I needed. Amazing selection, great labelling, friendly helpful staff -- if only it was closer to my house! :)

If you're having a wander around Golders Green, it's not very likely you'll stroll passed Kosher…read moreKingdom, which is towards the Brent Cross end of Golders Green Road, under a 10 min walk from the tube station. (If you walk via this route, pick up a gelato from Bella del Gelato on the way!) I'm not Jewish, but I am always up for eating!! A blip on my Twitter feed one night showed a vegan user's bounty. My jaw dropped. Faux meats and coconut ice creams from my native US had been a short train ride away from me all this time! I retweeted, grabbed another expat, and went as soon as possible. The ripple was felt and soon there was a plague of vegans making their own pilgrimage to "The Kingdom". Kosher Kingdom has a smaller shop front, but once inside, it goes quite far into the back. Let me quell your fears now: Yes, there are many Jewish people with "traditional" Jewish clothing items on. No, they don't care you're here. And once you see the treasure trove of goodies, any self-consciousness goes out the window. (Did you see the girls hugging and screaming in front of the Tofurky sausages? That was me). Here are vegan-y things that may interest not only vegans, but veggies and also dairy / egg-free people (and the rest of you foodies!): fresh sushi; Cheese puffs; goldfish crackers; 800 types of hummus; 10 types of falafel; Tofurky brand sausages, hot dogs and the deli slices; cornettos; ice cream bites; viennettas; coconut, rice, and almond ice creams; simulated chicken fat; whipped cream; millions of cookies; Fry's frozen range; Dr Prager's frozen range; swedish fish, candies, chocolates, granola bars, white chocolate chipes, butterscotch chips, graham crackers and graham cracker pie crusts....etc. Plus lots of gluten free items, crazy crisps and snacky things, juices, and my fav- Israeli couscous! They really pride themselves on getting items not available anywhere else, so you will find lots of things from the US & Canada there too. They also have standard household goods, candles, Jewish books and music, Judaism for children items, all sorts of stuff. There are also lots of good sales always going on, so keep an eye out! The floor staff are helpful and nice if you have any questions (my last visit he let me know when the next Tofurky shipment was coming in). My advice is to bring a cold bag and sign up for the Kosher Kingdom point card!

I am glad to be trying new cuisines to be able to bring these to all and this place is a real gem…read more THE MOOD: In Finchley and easy location to travel to. Authentic interior with a large bread clay oven at the front where all the fresh nans are made. A busy environment but easy to talk and make conversation so no loud music and good acoustics. THE FOOD: We had the following dishes: Kash Bademjan - Egg plant dip and although I am not a fan usually but as this was all mashed up and mixed with other ingredients it goes well with the nan as well as the sauces that come along with this. Big enough starter to share. Nan - This comes along as standard as far as I can tell and worth ordering anyway as you will need to see the size of this but 1 will be enough for 2-4 of you to share. This is made fresh in clay oven and as I say this is a must. Chello Koubideh - Lamb kofte style with rice and you get two long kofte style pieces. Nice dish and I dont think you will finish this so be prepared for take away. Morassah Polo - I am told this is the the King of all Persian dishes and comes with the Persian Jewelled Rice. The rice is amazingly fragrant and comes with a splash of colours and tastes of sweetness that complements the chicken perfectly. The chicken itself is coated with a tomato coating and chicken is moist and falls off the bone, it was just perfect. You also get a curry sauce that compliments entire dish. I actually cant wait to go back here and again lots of food so again be ready for a take away. Tadig - This is the golden crunchy bottom rice layer, the crowning glory of all Persian rice dishes! To me this is better known as the burnt bottom of the rice, in Persian cuisine, it is much sought after! This was served with some great soft succulent meat pieces served with an amazing sauce with beans and some fries. A sharing dish again and worth trying but then maybe hold off on a starter. THE VERDICT: A good place to come and actually I ordered too much but even with enough food for three maybe four the price is reasonable and food is tasty and great atmosphere with friendly staff. Ok you pack your own doggy bag but that's ok. I would recommend a visit. £50.00 for two

It's true I couldn't read everything on the packaging and I probably looked as out of place as I felt, but the people running the place were really nice and didn't laugh at my strange variety of purchases. Great selection for a relatively small grocery store.

I don't live close to a K-Mart and also don't drive, so I've mostly ordered groceries for delivery…read more(through http://www.kmart-uk.com/), which worked fine the first few times I ordered from them. However, I will no longer be patronizing this business after this most recent experience, which was absolutely horrendous. This time I submitted an order for about GBP 50 worth of groceries, which is typically delivered the next day, and specifically requested on the order form for the delivery to be made after 4pm (so that I could be home to accept the delivery). However, several days pass without delivery or contact from their end, so after about a week I try both calling and emailing them (at the address on their website: info@hankookfood.com) to no avail. Finally, I get a text message from their end (presumably from the delivery guy) asking (at 11am) if they can make the delivery that day (at 4pm). I respond that that won't be possible, but the following day will be OK. They respond that they're not sure what their schedule will be like then so they'll contact me again later. The next day, they text me (at 11am) asking if they can deliver within the next couple of hours (at 1pm; keep in mind that I specifically requested delivery after 4pm on my order form). I respond that I work during the week so that time won't be possible, and that (for this reason) I requested delivery after 4pm. They respond that there is no evening delivery (which is false, since they delivered at least 4 previous orders for me during the evening) and proceed to tell me that the delay in delivery is my fault because they keep calling me and not getting through (also false; worth noting, too, that despite these alleged multiple calls they've left zero voicemails). Here are the last two text messages they sent me, verbatim (from number +44 07919 277 573, FYI): - Korean (in Revised Romanization): [gandanhan baesongeul we geureokge mot batneunji gunggeumhamnida. bujaejung jeonhwaga gereokge manheundaedo we jeonhwa hantong an haessneunjido ihaega an doemnida.] - English translation: 'I wonder why you're so unable to receive a simple delivery. I really can't understand why you didn't call back a number from which you received so many missed calls.' (Note: There are no missed calls. Also, even if there were, who calls back random numbers they don't recognize?) - Korean: [dasineun sikijimaseyo. dasi sikimyeon nimeun gaesseuregiga doeneungeonika. (sic)] - English translation: 'Don't order from us again. If you order from us again, you're dog sh*t.' I kid you not. This business is off its rocker (or at least the delivery guy is...). Anyway, even though it's a bit less convenient and more expensive I think I'll be getting my Korean groceries from the Centre Point Food Store in Bloomsbury. They are nice over there and don't call you 'dog sh*t'. :)
