The two NJT routes this station serves are the Montclair-Boonton line and the Morris & Essex line. The station is kept in decent condition and clean. It's not anything fancy and it has been over 15 years since they did their last renovation, but it serves its purpose of saving you from driving that commute to the City!

I could see it traveling farther and farther out when I looked on his Device Manager until I realized it was still on the train when it stopped in Dover. It was after business hours so I didn't know if there would be anyone there who could help. We'd already contacted lost and found. So I drove out there hoping to find someone. I drove to the deserted train yard. Knocked on some doors but nope, nobody there. Got back in my car and drove around a bit more until I saw someone about to leave in one of those small security vehicles. The only person in the area. He stopped and I told him what train he'd been on and that I saw it wasn't going out again that night and asked if there was a way to look on the train. He said he'd go up to see what track it was on and would go through the train but when he came down he had my son's phone! I'm forever grateful to this lovely man! I hope NJ Transit appreciates the care he takes in his job. Give this guy a promotion!

Catch The Train in Morris Plains…read more Morris Plains Station is a small train station on the Dover-NY Penn Line. The station side line goes towards Penn Station in NY and the other line goes towards Dover. This is a great little train station as it offers an enclosed space that is heated or cooled as appropriate for the weather. Private Men's and Women's bathrooms are also available. Timely automated announcements are made about 3 minutes before a train arrival to give you enough time to exit the waiting area at the station and get to the appropriate line. This station remains in heavy use even when there is rain, sleet, and snow. There are no ticket office hours inside of this station, but there are 2 ticket vending machines for your train ride(s) and and 2 automated parking vending machines to pay for your parking space in Lot 1 (station side parking lot). All of these machines are located next to the bike parking located under the large "Morris Plains Station" sign. Parking Lot 1 fills up quickly so be sure to arrive early if you are looking to score a spot here. Just across Speedwell Avenue are restaurants, a bar, pub, dinner, some retail, and a pharmacy. A great convenience when waiting for or getting off of your train ride.

The lobby itself is nice and fairly spacious but In more recent years it has become a safe haven for the homeless prompting the lobby to locked up after midnight. The warmth of the lobby is always welcome but there are back steps to access the platforms from the outside and even an elevator. The lobby windows hours are narrow being only 6am to 1pm so if you a special kind of ticket such as a bus pass you have to make it there during this time. It isn't open on weekends so if you work a regular job how are you supposed to get a ticket of this type? I know this is more of an NJ Transit issue but i think they should be more accomodating. Overall though its one of the better stations on this line and pretty well, kept up.
