Out group tried the Biscuits and gravy, shrimp Benny and brisket Benny as well as fried green tomato, kids apple johnny cakes and grilled cheese. The portions are generous. The chicken with the biscuits and gravy were 2 pieces of brined dark meat chicken served on a biscuit and collards smothered in pork gravy. Chicken was very juicy and super crunchy, collard needed some acidity, biscuit was light but a little overdone and gravy was not as fat a decadent than in the south, lighter but still tasty, wish they poured it a little more generously. The fried green tomato was outstanding as the accompany silly aioli situation was great. Kids apple jonnycakes were a hit and loved the hot chocolate with mini marshmallows for the kiddos. Gtilled cheese was a hit - got the pull and the bread was well toasted. The home fries were a bit of a let down. Although very cool and layered, they seemed very greasy, maybe oil or flattop wasn't hot enough? Benny's were both good, shrimp cake was well cooked and crisp and brisket was flavourful and moist. Hey have no waiting area and take no reservations. Use their call ahead service and enjoy

It was layered with a light crisp of cheese on the outside but creamy inside. The flavour was nice and tasted like carbonara! It's a bit pricey - $18 for a small. Portions were ok, the small is enough for a one person meal. I also got to try the BBQ chicken mac and cheese. It was a bit dry and heavy on the BBQ sauce. Not a personal favourite but it does pair nicely. There is limited seating outside. It's more of a take away spot. I don't think they sell drinks or provide water either. It took about 15 minutes to receive our order. The sever at the counter was really nice!

They are knowing for having farm to table food and great cocktails. We ordered the burrata, the spinach dip and the cauliflower. I also got the chai espresso martini for a cocktail. The burrata was mind blowing, it had a nice combination of creamy from the burrata and sweet from the roasted vegetables. I ate this up so fast, it was so good. The spinach dip was too cheesy it overwhelmed us a bit. It also overpowered the spinach. The cauliflower was spicy and nice but it was too saucy and overwhelming as well. The chai espresso martini was very nice but I couldn't taste the chai, it just tasted like a regular espresso martini, but it was very nicely made. They also had a private event booked at 9:45 and they didn't let us know before our reservation so it was really frustrating and docked a .5, making this place a 3.5. Definitely did not seem professional to do that. Overall a good experience, and would most likely return if they don't book a private event and tell me after I sit down I have to leave after an hour.

The restaurant is in Kensington Market, just a short walk from the TTC. Lasagna This is pretty much what I expect from a good lasagna. The top had a nice golden crust while the pasta layers underneath still had great texture. The meat sauce was packed with well-browned ground beef, giving it a rich, hearty flavor, and the melted mozzarella tied everything together beautifully. The tomato sauce was a little more acidic than my personal preference, but overall it's a well-executed lasagna with solid fundamentals. Tiramisu You can usually trust an Italian restaurant to make a good tiramisu, and this one definitely delivered. The first bite was full of coffee and liqueur aromas. The mascarpone was rich without feeling heavy, and the ladyfingers were fully soaked while still keeping just a little structure. What impressed me most was the balance between the mascarpone and the ladyfingers--they melted together into one smooth, moist bite instead of feeling like separate layers. At $9, it's the kind of dessert I'd happily stop by and pick up even without having a full meal. Even though the weather wasn't great today, this tiramisu definitely brightened my day. Happy 3rd anniversary! Wishing the restaurant many more successful years ahead, and I'll definitely be back to try more dishes.

The restaurant is bare bones, but has a nice bench seating that spans the length of the seating area, a garage door opening to the street, and a small bar area near the kitchen. There is local art on one side of the wall and graffiti style decor on the opposite wall and washroom (which you can pickup one of the provided pens and tagged it yourself). The cajun fries are soft potato wedges coated in chili flakes and paprika. It comes with what looks like the burger sauce as dip and is tangy and finger licking good. Eating at Heartbreak is a messy affair. The portions are great for the price, the chicken is hot and fresh, piled high with coleslaw and sweet pickles on a brioche bun. The owner seems to be the soul (pin intended) cook, served us, did cash, and took care of the guests. Overall, the chicken was crispy, lots of meat, will be back to try their mac and cheese. This place was a few blocks away and maybe because it was 9pm on a rainy Sunday, we had no problem getting a seat right away. I ordered their SPICY MARGARITA. It was spicy and so good! For dinner I picked the prawn rice bowl. That, too, was spicy but it was really tasty. It contained 6 prawns covered in some sauce that contained a lot of flavor. I would have licked the bowl. We were hungry so the 23 min wait for our food felt long. But ultimately it was worth it. The two ladies helping us were very nice and even with one mis-communication, served us well. .

It's also been a reliable spot to be able to book tables for large groups. However, they have poor problem resolution if there are any issues that arise. Their food is all pretty good and drinks are fairly priced. Their staff are what I would call elusive and very no frills--beyond your first order, they're a bit hard to flag down to order additional items, settle bills, or otherwise. We had an incident where my friend ordered an alcohol-free beer, but when received, they had a sip and suspected it had alcohol in it because it tasted like the regular alcoholic version. We asked the staff to confirm if the drink they poured was actually alcoholic beer on tap, or if it was an emptied can of the alcohol-free beer. The staff came back and apologized, saying it was the alcoholic beer and poured from the tap but the order placed was indeed the alcohol-free beer. My friend then requested to have the can for the alcohol-free beer instead of poured in a glass to be safe, because she was pregnant. The staff then realized the gravity of the issue and went to get the can, saying we can keep the other glass. A few minutes later, someone who I presume to be a manager came over to say she had clarified the situation again and that it was actually NOT the alcoholic beer--which at this point we weren't inclined to trust. The manager did not apologize, but instead said that a bit of alcohol is okay when you're pregnant... We didn't say anything or raise a fuss, just smiled awkwardly. We left not too long after, and we were charged for the mistaken beer as well. This experience put a bit of damper on going to this place, as it was a frequent spot we visited for decent happy hour specials. However it's evident that staff do not know how to handle special circumstances, nor do they seem to have high EQ. If you are a person with no dietary needs, no wheelchair or crutches (because it's cramped as hell and the washrooms are located on the 2nd floor), not pregnant, and no allergies, then this place is probably fine. But if you have any of the above, then you should skip it in case of incident.

Taste that bacon and you'll understand why too! And for somebody who's not much of a meat eater, it blew my head! I was barely able to eat a half a piece. It was very rich and super meaty! Now I'm curious how are we eating this so-called bacon in the US I ate the poutine Bowl. Do know as an American it is not seasoned how we would eat it. Which might be healthier! But they have a homemade hot sauce you can add to it! Which really worked for me! But those pancakes.. sorry I just can't move from them!
