And when you call them out on it they get indignant and claim I said I was. Well when you say "I'm taking cases for xyz" THAT implies YOU are an attorney seeing as an Attorney decides what cases to take!! In addition to that - they are rude and un empathetic to the people they are supposed to be helping. They claim there is NO WAY to avoid a UD... really? That makes no sense - of course there is. I went to this office today spoke to a male Hispanic clerk seats in the front office desk wears glasses. I provided my document and he then asked how much was my rent. He informed me my rent was a $100 over the threshold of the $1800 free legal aid. My fee would be the cost of my rent and they will try to help me. I'm thinking if you going to charge me the cost of my rent, I want to hear something better than you're going to try. He said they only going address the eviction notice not the reason I short paid my rent by $180. I was being sued for $180 by my landlord and didn't have a working stove or heater and toilet. You want $2000 and you only going to address the small issue but not why I deducted from the rent. I also he mentioned that he was 100% sure I would lose if I represent myself. That no one wins if they represented their selves, they always come back to him the CLERK to tell him how they should have paid for their services. I informed him I might have bit your scare tactic if you were an attorney and actual reviewed my documents or gave me consultation with the attorney your trying to sell me on. I can't be sold with a clerk that don't review my case or tell me their win rate in court and uses word like "we will try" and "you on your on for those repairs you want". Whoever teaching him his sell pitch needs to redo his training. You would need to share your success rate and tell me how you can resolve my matters and not chatting with me like I am a distain associate. He also complained everyone was arriving last min and they didn't close for an hour and no one was there after me. When he asked if I would pay I said I have a kid in college and a single parent with everyday bills, I don't have a month rent tucked away to pay you and rent again in a week. He said "well y'all can afford this much rent we figure you can afford an attorney." I then asked who are you referring to when you say "y'all". He came across as he couldn't assimilate that I am an everyday working class and although I had a job I am getting by like everyone else. Also, an attorney probably can't afford an attorney, job titles doesn't mean you're well off.
