My favorite part about his office his the vibe u get when u walk in. Everyone is working on their spinal molding excises in the front room. I noticed that the more I do my exercises as recommend my spine moves better during my adjustments. I've been to a few Chiropractors and dr rob has the best touch. His adjustments are gentle but get the job done. And his hours work great with my busy schedule. What a great place to heal physically and mentally!! Your spines mobility and proper alignment solves so many problems. I am an athlete and always come in for regular visits because i know how important maintaining the foundation of your body is! Hands down the best neck adjustment I have ever gotten. Dr. Bates has a table with a dropping head rest - and it is a spectacular and safe way to get an adjustment. It is painless and works. Then he carefully pulled my neck at a certain point where there was a subluxation and three vertebrae adjusted wonderfully and he held it in the stretched position for at least a few seconds and it literally unlocked my neck. I could move it painlessly and easily for the first time in years and the strength in one arm was drastically improved. His practice does not take my health insurance which is a shame, but I highly recommend him. He had patients stretching their necks and backs with the proper equipment all over the office. He also x-rayed my neck and back and critiqued my posture and pointed out issues no other chiropractor has addressed. He really knows his stuff. I have had a few bad neck adjustments where they throw your neck to the side and it has done damage, but Dr. Bates techniques are so skillful you leave feeling like a new person. I am not a big reviewer, but I really thought I had to write this personal opinion based upon my interactIon with Mr. Bates. First of all he goes into a big sales job about the benefits of chiropractic work. I threw out my back and went to my general practitioner who had x-rays taken at Torrence Memorial. I was sure to bring those to "Dr" Bates. According to the radiologist, there was NO disc issues or degeneration or any other issue noted. Thats the reason I was willing to try a chiropractor. He starts out by saying these are no good and regular doctors don't understand the spine. He then proceeds to shoot 4 or 5 X-rays, utilizing horrible X-ray protocol. No lead bibs or draping anywhere. Then does a "physical" examination and tells me I have three significant areas of alignment issues. OK doc, ready to get adjusted. Instead he sends me home and says ice my back and come back tomorrow. Am I going to get adjusted then? Apparently not ! He comes in with Chiropractic collateral and goes on for almost 15 minutes repeating the entire history of what I told him yesterday. I said yes doc, I know all this, I told you this yesterday. Then he proceeds to say ok lets look at the X-rays. He starts out by saying I have good news and bad news. Bad news, your back is in very bad shape (despite a board certified Radiologist saying he could see nothing wrong). He goes on to say, that the good news I can fix you. He then begins to ask me to guess how bad the X-ray is. I stop him and say look doc, my cardiologist doesn't give me my graph on my heart and ask me to guess how bad it is. I said are you going to adjust me or not. He goes into full sales mode and says I have the optimal solution but its going to depend on your financial commitment and willing to be a team player. I said, I am not making a financial commitment, if your adjusting helps, I will stay with it, if not I am moving on. He proceeds to sell me some more about the benefits of chiropractic therapy. I said, one more time are you going to adjust me or just waste my time? I finally just said forget it, got up and left. THIS IS EXACTLY THE TYPE OF GUY WHO GIVES THE WHOLE STUDY OF CHIROPRACTIC A BAD NAME. SHAME ON YOU DOC. STOP SELLING AND START HEALING. read more

I'm not entirely sure what to say here. I feel perfectly healthy and I have all my life. I only went in to see the chiropractor because my mom wanted me to go. I went in and the guy seemed nice enough. He showed me some x-rays and said that I had some issues that need to be corrected. I feel as fit as a fiddle but he said I needed to see him 3 times a week. That doesn't seem right. Who needs to see a chiropractor that much? It seems excessive. Also he offers an 40/80 visit prepaid plan. I can't imagine ever needing that many visits. It also is rather costly. When I decided to cancel after a couple visits, he gave me a call and once again seemed nice enough. But then he insulted my intelligence and tried to guilt trip me. That is not very professional. If I ever feel like I am in pain, I will certainly not visit this chiropractor. read more

I made an appointment for 10am and showed up about 10 minutes early to do all of the paperwork. I finished all of the paperwork before 10am; however, at 10:30am I was still sitting in the very crowded and small waiting room. Then, the front desk staff told me that this appointment was just a consultation and I would not receive any treatment that day unless the Dr. decided otherwise, which was unlikely. While I was considering not bothering to wait any longer, they claimed the doctor was ready to see me and took me to a cold room in the back of the office where I sat for another 10 minutes without any human contact. Near the end of that 10-minute period, I called Dr. Derek Levy in Hermosa, who was able to get me in that day. Hence, I walked out of Bates' office an hour after I entered and never even saw Dr. Bates! The only positive thing I can say about this experience is that the front desk staff promised me that they won't charge me for my lost time. I went to see Dr. Levy in his very pleasant office, my appointment occurred as scheduled, and he expertly treated me on the spot - go there if you want excellent chiropractic treatment. Don't waste your time at Bates Chiropractic - you'll lose time and sanity if you do. read more

Dr. Bates is the best He is caring and you don't always need an appt. He will fit you in. His staff is friendly and helpful. He can adjust anyone.. He has a group adjustment room. But if you need a private room, just ask. Sometimes there is a wait but that depends when you go. I have had neck pain for years with numbness in both hands. He has always been able to help me. i went into this poorly ran office with a migraine and lower back problem. i was intrigued by their ad for "free consultation". well this consultation consisted of my being forced to wait almost an hour after my set appointment time for some girl who looked no older than my daugther to patronized me for another hour and provide me with medical advice, despite the fact that she had no chiropractic training or certifications or even a college degree! i know because i asked her! after some more waiting, about another 30 minutes, i did see the doctor who took xrays and i left. even as i was on my way out, i heard people complaining in the waiting room about the wait time and saw one patient even leave! guess i wasnt the only person who made an appointment yet still had to wait. the girl who had just spent an hour patronizing me about the health of my spine was now sitting at the front desk, playing on her iphone and was too busy to be of much use to anyone. i had completely forgotten about this place until i saw the same girls at a local fair, solicitating people for business and handing out medical advice without even a trained doctor's supervision. what an excellent way to run a business. read more

I don't usually write reviews but saw some bad ones here. The reviews seem to fall in the low vs high range. It took me a while to drink the kool-aid, but what Dr Bates emphasises is a long term change to your physical health that takes a real commitment in time and regularity with a focus on the right exercises to keep the spine healthy. People looking for a quick flick fix seem to give the one star ratings. I had long term neck injury from a car crash and Dr Bates significantly helped in improving my quality of life. read more

Dr. Bates has helped me get from stuggling with chronic neck and back pain to a much healthier place in 90 days. I had no idea that my breathing and sinus issues would be conquored and I haven't taken a Claritin for over 2 months. The main issue I have is sciatica, and though the incredible pain wasn't attacked directly with chiropractic care, the adjustments really helped me stay in shape as I waited out the nerve issue. The worst experience at a doctors office in my entire life. Dr Rob Bates only cares about his 3 times a week for 3 months payment. I asked if they accepted insurance. They said yes. You have to talk to Dr Rob Bates. I asked Dr Rob Bates what a session cost. He would not give me a straight answer. I asked him if he was a concierge doctor. He did not respond. I asked if he was a cash only doctor. He did not give me a straight answer. He then proceeded to draw a payment plan on a clip board for approximately $1700. He took X-rays. I asked him to submit it to my insurance. He said no just pay $50.00. This was after I was told they accept insurance. Dr Rob Bates is disconnected from patients. I would have gladly paid the money if he was honest and upfront. I believe he needs to get in touch with his patients needs and stop focusing on his own bank account. I asked Dr Rob Bates if he had ever heard the feedback I was giving him. He said never. Well Norma G and Richard T posted my exact experience on Yelp and Dr Rob Bates responded. I never really write reviews but I wanted to share my experience about Dr. Bates. After crippling pain in my upper back from a car accident five years ago, I was getting pretty desperate for answers. At first, I thought, three times a week for three months was crazy but I did it and the consistency worked, my pain is 95 percent gone. I literally couldn't believe it but I followed his routine of spinal conditioning really carefully. I was actually able to go back to my really physical job for the first time in a few years. I've been going now for two years and just do maintenance visits when I want/need it. I have never, ever been pressured to buy more visit or buy things I don't want or need for home treatment and I pay cash for a very fair price of $35.00 a visit (I buy 10 at a time). His approach may not be a good fit for everyone but this DC fixed my back...and that is worth reviewing. read more
