Dr. Clark has treated me on numerous ocassions. He often calms my nerves by telling me I haven't done permanent damage. Within a few treatments he has corrected my issues. This review is long overdue. I cannot say enough great things about Dr. Eric Yu and the A.R.T. treatment that I received over a course of 5 months. I injured my wrist about a year ago and I stopped working out from unbearable constant pain. Over a course of 9 months, I sought several treatments prior with acupuncture and a steroid shot in my wrist, while wearing a splint the entire time. None of it worked and I was in pain night and day. When I met Dr. Eric I was a bit discouraged given my past experiences and did not expect any healing whatsoever. He recommended A.R.T. treatment to me, after an initial consult and saw the condition of scar tissue damage in my arm. I'll never forget my first session with him. I was in excruciating pain as he dug deep in my tissue.....from the top of my shoulder to the tips of my fingers. I was so certain I'd have scars when I got back home....but luckily I didn't. The pain in my wrist went away for the first time in almost a year for 15 minutes. That was my first session. I continued to receive therapy initially every week, then every couple of weeks and now once a month. About a month ago, I realize I was completely pain free. Dr. Perry was great, no complaints on the service here. Proactive plainly states on its website they will call and provide insurance coverage up front, prior to your first visit. When I made the initial appointment I asked for this info and was promised a call back. I did not receive a call back and was charged $200 on my first visit unexpectedly. Absolutely amazing practice! I've had chronic back pain for the past 2 years from a bulging disc injury. This is the only chiropractor that has been able to actually properly diagnose the pain and figured out a way to work it out. I went to ProActive to see Dr. Yu for an injured shoulder back in Nov. 07. My first impression was that their office was very nice. Clean, minimalistic, interesting magazines, and calmingly quiet. Dr. Yu was very good at explaining my injury as well as the methods he would use to treat it. My kind of Dr. I really appreciated his open method of communication. The doctors at this office are very honest and good at what they do. They aren't spine centric and approach treatment based on their knowledge of the whole muscular and skeletal system. I like that they perform both chiropractic manipulations and Active Release Technique (ART) muscle therapy on their patients. I feel the positive results of my treatment much better when they apply both techniques. I've been to Dr. Yu more than I've been to Dr. Perry, but they are both very professional and are also good about suggesting at-home exercises you can do to improve your posture and strengthen your back. read more

I had no idea what Active Release Treatment was when i walked in to Pro-Active Wellness Center. It was suggested to me i get ART done to help my tendentious and sciatic nerve problems by a physical therapist i know. Funny thing is i walked by this place for 3 years and never stopped in. First and foremost, Dr. Perry is the best! Second, Dr. Joe is the best! -- I have been going to Dr. Perry and Dr. Joe for all my sports related injury. Dr. Bhang is finally at this location, and I made sure to book an appointment with him for acupuncture. He has treated me and healed me once before, and after surgery I had this year I needed a good acupuncture doctor to get back to normal. I visited several places, and although they helped a little, no one was able to make a quick, meaningful impact like Dr. Bhang. This time he told me I would need only 3-4 immediate treatments, and that after that I would be well enough to just visit every now and then to maintain my balance and health. After treatment #2 I already started seeing a significant difference. He understands the body as the system, gets to the root cause, and helps people in ways words cannot describe. Pro active is awesome. I'm able to hit the volleyball again with out being in pain. Dr Perry is amazing!! He was very thorough at explaining the process and the treatment was exactly what I needed. I have known Dr. Perry for 3 years. This chiropractic office is terrific. The secretaries are great at scheduling and they always verify my insurance benefits. My PPO insurance pays for every visit. The masseuse Trez is also very good. This place is always clean. There's always free parking behind the building. I love the A.R.T. Therapy from my chiropractor. Dr. Perry helped me during my Achilles tendinitis and plantar fasciitis. He always helps take care of my aches and pains. To begin with, I am a chronic sufferer for over 25 years of low and mid-back pain due to childhood and collegiate athletics, and a serious skiing accident in my 20's. I've done everything short of surgery--well, I'm not really surgical since my pain, stiffness and limited mobility stem from ligament and muscle damage. I've done everything including seeing different chiropractors, pain management, epidural injections, physical therapy, acupuncture, pilates... Dr Eric Yu and ART are the magic combo for me. I have never experienced this much relief, right away and lasting for several days as I have after treatment with Dr Yu. He is very knowledgeable, listens intently to your issues during all of your appointments. He is also thorough in explaining what and how ART works. ART is not your usual, everyday chiro treatment and is probably not for everyone. However, if you are experiencing chronic pain from athletic endeavors in your youth, repetitive use of muscle/tendon area (e.g. years of dance, gymnastics, baseball, football..) or from an earlier accident, ART might be right for you. If ART is the correct treatment for you I highly recommend Dr Yu and Pro-Active. Actually, I think anyone with bones, muscles and ligaments would benefit from ART. read more

Just realized I've been going here for my various aches & pains for the past 5 yrs +. I keep coming back because Dr Perry is the best. He takes the time to figure out the problem and use the appropriate technique to treat. Specifically, he's helped to relieve my Crossfit related back pain and shoulder impingement. Yes, he totally made those issues go away. He can give you exercises/stretches to do at home to help relieve pain & prevent future pain. Today I went in for a new problem, TMJ. He helped to identify the most problematic parts of my jaw & neck & treated it. Then gave me some pointers on what to do at home. The active release treatments are painful but you will feel better later. Releasing all the tension built up in the muscles and various muscle imbalances also takes time. Sometime you will feel relief immediately and other times after a few treatments. I suggest you help by working on these areas at home too. You will heal faster. Love this place for A.R.T. And chiropractic work. They accept PPO insurance, but will also take cash clients. I've been coming here for a few months and they've really helped me feel better from minor/nagging injuries I've had. If you haven't heard of this kind of therapy you should come by here and check it out. I've done regular chiropractor thing before and this is hands down better. They work with muscle and the joints to make you feel better. It's almost like a sports massage to loosen up and break up scar tissue in the muscles. I highly suggest this place for anyone who has muscle/body pain. This is especially true for people with ergonomics related pain (lower back). My specific issue was extreme lower back pain, and I have been seeing pro-active weekly for ART treatment. The results are amazing. You leave feeling the change in your muscles as they break down scar tissue and rebuild muscle strength. The Dr's at pro-active are also very knowledgeable; they have been dead-on every time they describe where I should feel pain and tenderness during treatment. They describe where I should expect pain over the week as we systematically work all of my weak back muscles. I've been very impressed! I am an office worker who sits in a cube 8 hours a day. ART treatment has been x1000 times better than any ergo thing my company has offered. I highly suggest them for work related pain or carpal tunnel. Feel better!! read more

He's not one of those chiropractors who are about getting a huge quantity of clients to keep coming in, and meanwhile, don't fix you because they want you to keep you coming in. I've been meaning to write this review for quite some time, but now that I've relocated and looking for a good chiropractor, I miss this place. While living in South Bay, I was going there on and off for 3 years and couldn't be more happier from the work Dr. Yu and Dr. Perry perform. I've had injuries from an ankle sprain to general muscle strains/tightness, low back stiffness from physical activities. All of these were treated with great time and effort, explanation, and active release technique (ART) that really was helpful in healing. Now that I'm in NYC, the chiropractors are mostly the traditional ones that don't integrate emerging therapeutic practices. Furthermore, they seem to do the standard adjustment with little effort, then suggest a number of follow-up appointments. Dr. Lee and Dr. Perry begin treatment and explain the plan, spending effort on soft-tissue injuries and making one feel a lot better upon leaving. I highly recommend this practice! read more

I had read about Active Release Therapy (ART), but I wasn't sure what to think of it. I decided to give it a shot with Dr. Yu, and I have to say he is a true professional. Dr. Yu provided a great overview of ART, then did a very comprehensive assessment on me, and in the first session was able to pinpoint the spots on my back that he guessed were causing me pain. SPOT ON, every one. He explained these were areas of unhealthy tissue adhesions that he would attempt to release in this and future sessions. Dr. Yu is very practical and honest, explaining that, if I did not see relief after 4 sessions, then this treatment would probably not help me. Excellent. read more

I can't recommend Pro Active and A.R.T. enough! I hurt my back by locking up a joint about 9 years ago and as a result of that lost my ability to do any number of things such as travel, any sports, etc without bringing on very bad back aches. Finally with the treatment of Dr Yu my back never aches any more, and I can begin to resume normal activities. The first doctor and physical therapist I saw didn't figure out that the joint was locked. Eventually a second physical therapist did find it and we started doing exercises to strengthen my back, but it never got better. I saw several chiropractors and another doctor over 4-5 years without real sustained improvement and finally got a recommendation to go to Pro Active from a friend of a friend. Began seeing Dr Yu and he found what the problem was - my SI joint was locked up, and my muscles were all out of balance as a result. It took some time, but between muscle therapy - both on the back as well as hips and hip flexors, and adjustments to loosen the joint he has eliminated any reoccurrence of pain, and minimizes the extent to which the SI joint locks up. I can't say enough about the interest he takes in his patients and drive to improve their health - compared to medical doctors who diagnosed me (incorrectly) without touching me, and told me that's just the way it will be. Dr Yu has also worked out muscle issues in my legs which were causing fatigue. read more
