Bates Exterminating sprayed our lawn on 7 Dec 2024 and unknown to me, they added green dye to the spray. Green dye came off the paws of our neighbor's dog on Sunday. On Friday green came off on our dog's paws (had not been out till then). On Christmas day it is still coming off (see pictures). Bates refused to acknowledge it was a long-term problem and refused to do anything about it saying they were not responsible for anything done to our lawn as we had signed an agreement that they were not responsible. We have used their service for 32 years and never that problem before. The owner said he does not need to respond to a complaint filed with the BBB, which I had done on 13 Dec 2024. We used Bates in Jupiter Farms for many years and had always been very happy and satisfied with the service, especially with Steve. We moved to Port St. Lucie and continued with Bates. We were very happy with a young man who went out of his way to provide excellent service. THEN I was told the young man had been fired and we got a new technician. One month I called Bates and said not to come the appointed day, that I would reschedule. The man showed up anyway, driving up just as I was leaving. I told him not to do the service that I wanted inside service along with the outside but I had to leave that day. Well, I was charged for that day. When I called and explained he had not done the service so I wasn't paying for a service I did not received and had said I would reschedule . When I tried to reschedule, THEY NEVER CAME BACK. I called a number of times and was told I needed to speak to a supervisor. They said they would take my number and have the supervisor call me. I left at least 5 messages but NO ONE ever called me back and I never received service again. Obviously I will no longer recommend them. Bates Exterminating like many companies is having a hard time keeping its employees. every month on my service I get a different technician that is a new hire with no knowledge of pest control or lawn care. The owner Bob is rude and likes to preach about Jesus in everyone's faces. His employees have been caught stealing from customers during their monthly service appointments and her management does nothing about it because of the lack of workers. Maybe if the workers were paid a decent wage his employees would not have to steal from customers. read more

I have used Bates Exterminating for over 10 years and on a few occasions I have opened the rodent boxes to discover that they had not replenished the bait per our agreement. Last week I opened the boxes after the service technician left and noticed that the boxes had not been replenished. I called the office to request that the technician return and provide fresh bait and instead of apologizing, the Bates person who answered the phone lectured me that opening the boxes was illegal. The technician returned later the same day to remove the boxes from my property and cancel my agreement. I guess they don't like being caught cheating! There are many options for pest control in the area so my suggestion is to stay away from Bates. read more

This company is great for land clearing as well as extermination. I hired Bates to clear my fence line and some trees. They have a reasonable rate for the day, and worked very hard from 8-6. At the end of the job they had encountered more time consuming trees than expected, they went above and beyond, Troy came back the next day and worked 4 hours to make sure our expectations were met. I was headed from Lox to the Loxahatchee river in Jupiter for the first time in my life. Google took me here I parked my car at the end of the dead end which belongs to the city as there were park signs in front of me. The owner of this company came out and was super rude to me . I told him I was lost and needed direction. He told me I don't belong there never return yet that way a way into the park just not the main entrance. I tried telling him I was lost he told me not to follow google to I stayed clam and asked him well then how do I get there. I'm sure it wasn't the first time he got unwanted people but if you live by a park entrance what do you expect it's a entrance. I was not on his drive way or anything like that I was just at the end of the street . He then told me "You need to leave and never come back you should of known not to come here u didn't see the private property signs." Then again the road and park belongs to the city not to him anyone can enter the park that way if they wanted to. I couldn't believe how rude this guys was to me I was lost. I seen his business truck parked out side and if he is that rude to others I can't imagine what it would be like doing business with this guys . All I kept saying was I'm sorry although I was in the road not in his residence or on his drive way. He talked to me like a piece of shit I just did not feel like arguing with him but as I got home my father told me I should of have called him then called the cops because I was in the road inside my car trying to figure out how to get to the main entrence of the park and he was so so rude. He came and walked up on me in my car and I could of ignored him but I was being polite. . If I could use zero stars I would have. I own a condo that we rent out. The tenant had bed bugs and when he moved out, we threw all of the furniture , (it was a furnished rental) and had Bates in for the service. A few days later I went into the apt and still saw bugs still crawling on the wall and still alive. They said they eventually will die. They also said they have a "30 day guarantee". which was very confusing. Was the guarantee of the contract for the price? While the contract said they will guarantee their work.....anyway, before the 30 days were up we had them in again, and they sprayed again. The condo was empty for 6 weeks while we waited for another tenant. In the mean time we had the condo professionally cleaned, and had the carpets cleaned. This past weekend our new tenant moved in and within 2 days he was getting bit by bed bugs. Apparently they weren't dead, and because nobody was living in the apartment up to that date, we didn't t know this. When we called Bates, they said ....uh...the 30 days were up and for an additional $400 they would go in and spray again. They obviously couldn't do the job the first 2 times they were there. They charged $695 for the first job. (This was a 1 bedroom apt). I am outraged by their lack of professionalism to honor their guarantee without additional money. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR BED BUGS! They are ineffective. And they do not honor their contract without additional $$$. read more

This company ruined my grass. Told me a pack of lies. They are more expensive than most companies too. I would not recommend this company.

Used these people 4 months ago for bed bugs and had a HUGE MANIFESTATION again. Called them on a monday and came on Thurs.They put blame on a mattress store where we purchased a new box spring and mattress in July .. but would not put it in writing that they said it was from the mattress store...so now my poor elderly mom is out of the $600.00 it cost her for them to exterminate AND a brand new box spring!! We don't even know if the bugs are gone yet completely! Now need to get a second opinion .. Will never use bates again OR recommend them to any one ! Beware!! read more
