I initially thought I could manage the pain with over-the-counter medication, but I was wrong! As the pain continued, I began looking for a dentist who would accept my dental plan. I found NorthView Family Dental on the web, and before contacting them, I took some time to read through their online reviews. The many positive reviews gave me confidence that I would be in good hands. Truthfully, I was also a little nervous about seeing a dentist I was unfamiliar with, but after reading the reviews, I decided to give them a call. I contacted them Friday morning and explained my situation to Lindsey, who was able to schedule me for an appointment later that day. She sent me a link to provide my personal information, medications, and insurance details. The process was very easy, and Lindsey was friendly, helpful, and professional throughout. I arrived at the clinic about 15 minutes early, and Monica greeted me warmly. She was extremely friendly and professional and made me feel comfortable right away. She explained what she would be doing before Dr. Anderson came into the room. Monica has such a wonderful demeanor that she immediately put me at ease--yes, even in a dental office! She carefully assessed which tooth was causing the problem and took digital photographs and X-rays. The office I visited was in Westview. The building was new, modern, and impressive, with seven doctors working on-site. The technology they use is amazing, including digital X-rays and an intraoral camera that allows them to see exactly which tooth needs attention. They even have technology that allows them to make crowns while you wait. Truly, technology at its finest! Dr. Anderson came in, confirmed the assessment, and explained the treatment I would need. Unfortunately, because my appointment was late in the Friday afternoon, there initially wasn't enough time to complete the treatment before their normal closing time. They provided me with a treatment plan and explained that my dentist back home could contact them for the X-rays and other information needed to place a crown. While I was waiting for the treatment plan paperwork, Dr. Anderson returned with Monica and told me that they were willing to stay after hours ( on a Friday night) to complete the treatment and crown my tooth. I was absolutely elated and incredibly grateful for their compassion and willingness to help. I wouldn't be returning home for another three days, and I had no idea when I would be able to see my regular dentist. Dr. Anderson and Monica completed the crown in about an hour and a half! I cannot say enough about how kind, compassionate, and professional they both were. They went above and beyond to take care of me when I was in significant pain and away from home. I am so thankful I found NorthView Family Dental. I am in Spokane quite often, and after this experience, I am seriously considering making Dr. Anderson and her team my regular dental office. I highly recommend NorthView Family Dental, and especially Dr. Anderson, Monica, and Lindsey. They provided exceptional care, showed genuine compassion, and made what could have been a very stressful experience surprisingly comfortable. Their excellent online reviews were what initially gave me the confidence to contact them, and after experiencing their care firsthand, I can absolutely understand why they receive such wonderful reviews. Double check your EOB's against what they charge you. We have been patients of Downriver Smiles…read more(DS) for 40 years. Both of us really like Dr Gaunt. I had $10k+ worth of dental implant work the end of 2023. Later in 2024, my husband, John, was told a second time, he didn't need to pay the $20 copay again. He asked why. They had overcharged us over $700 on my dental work from 2023 and were using it $20 at a time to cover his copay (now a total of $40 against the $700 credit). They had been using our money for most of 2024. We were shocked and asked for a refund. In November of this year, they sent us a bill for $130. The DS insurance person was snippy with him, but looked into it and not all of the proper forms were sent to our insurance company. She corrected the mistake and we owed nothing. The first of December, I saw Dr. Gaunt to get a replacement upper denture. We paid them in advance on 12-11-25. I received an EOB from the insurance company on 12-23-25 for the claim they submitted on 12-11-25. (I didn't even get the denture until 12-31-25). They had overcharged us again - by $170. The DS insurance person told John they couldn't pay us because they hadn't received payment from our insurance company yet. On 12-31-25, Dr. Gaunt fit the dentures as best as he could. I also asked him the cost of completing the implant from 2023. When checking out, although we didn't ask her, the DS insurance person felt a need to tell John again, each step of the implant procedure. She stood directly in front of me the whole time and spoke directly to John constantly referring to me as "she". She never looked at me. She never said my name. I never said a word, but it was so condescending and embarrassing. Just because I'm old and in a wheelchair, doesn't mean I am blind, deaf, and dumb. Why would she act that way to me? When she was done, John asked her if we would receive a refund. She acted so superior again and said yes and answered with the same contempt when he asked her when. A couple hours later Morris called, identified himself as the current owner of the business and said because John was rude to his insurance person, we no longer were patients at his business. And he didn't want to hear anything John might have to say. I am now left with finding another dentist to pay for finishing the fitting my dentures - for which Morris has been fully paid. Whether John was rude or not, he has sent a letter of apology to DS. Again, check your EOB's.
