You write down all of your favorites and then narrow it down your list to the top 4 scents you think smell best together to create your own signature candle. You can also make a reed defuser, room spray, or soap as an alternative option. Before pouring the wax and mixing your scents, you choose from their selection of jars, ranging in price around $40-60. After creating your candle and naming your scent, it takes around 90-120 minutes for it set. I think the experience could be elevated with a few things: An option to customize your candle with glitter, color of wick, color of wax, ability to select a cute label with your scent's name or create one, even a label maker would do the trick. They have some cute vessels, but I would love to see more variety in different styles, colors, and sizes. I asked the owner, Marleen what ingredients were in the fragrance oils and she couldn't really give me a complete answer other than they are not 100% essential oils but they're synthetic and safe because they don't buy them from overseas. hmmm.... With that said, I'm sure they contain toxins like phthalates and ethyl methoxycinnamates. Reputable brands of oils will clearly label their products and disclose all the components. I try to use scents, body care, and household cleaners free from toxins so this is a little concerning not knowing what chemicals are in the candle. I'm sensitive to irritants which aggravate my asthma and also give me headaches. I just wish i knew for sure what was in this magical potion of oils we mixed. Overall, I had a fun time and made some great memories. It's a unique activity for a date night or group outing with friends that all ages can enjoy.

We started by smelling several scents, they have 90 scents to smell - I skipped some that weren't appealing like bacon and old books LOL Be sure to grab you a bag of coffee beans to cleanse your scent palette. I don't want to spoil the process so I won't tell you everything! So just go ahead and make a reservation, the fee goes towards your reservation at the end. I'm going to wait 2 weeks before light my custom candle so that I get the best scent payout. It's worth the money. You can make a candle, room diffuser, and/or room spray. They helped our group from start to finish. We had a blast! I've since been back twice for laundry detergent and shower gel. I love how my skin feels, how my clothes smell, and knowing everything is plant based, made in-house. This place is great! The reason I like loose leaf tea versus the garbage sold in the stores is because it comes out way more flavorful, stronger and seems to taste a lot better than the stuff they sell at the grocery. I am also shocked that nobody else has been here before, as I know a few tea drinker who also happen to be active yelpers. Interesting. Anyway, the place is easy to find and right off fourth street and visible from the road. There is street parking, but a parking garage is literally right there on the other side of the street if you need it. As you know, downtown Rochester can get busy at times, so easy places to park is important. Walking in, not only is this place a tea store, but it also sells spices. They also have a ton of cool accessories to choose from throughout, which was really super cool to look at. I've also been on the hunt for the individual honey sticks that seem to be hard to find. Not only do they have the honey sticks, but they came in a variety of flavors? Like flavored honey? Exciting! I just grabbed a packet of regular honey sticks which are sitting in my kitchen now. The spice area has a much larger selection of items, from different varieties of salt, but other seasonings as well. I didn't really study the selection as the place was busy but let me tell you, there's a lot! I went to the tea section and they have all sorts of teas to choose from. I wanted something more citrus/lemon/herbal since I have a sinus infection, but I also wanted to see what else they have. Great selection, pre bagged but make sure you have the steeper's at home. If not, they sell them here too. Service was great, and the staff was knowledgeable. Nobody asked me if I needed help or followed me around the store, but when I did talk to them at check out, these people really seem to be tea oriented and educated on the product. While they aren't cheap by any stretch of the imagination (more along the lines of Starbucks pricing) they are worth every penny. I will be back in the future and I wish they did a better job of advertising!

Back at your table you'll test, then mix your scents, then make your candle which is all clearly explained by the instructor. Your candle has to set so you're unable to take it with you, so you have to pick it up later or the next day. For those who live far, they do offer shipping for an additional fee. I enjoyed hearing about the owners entrepreneurship journey and why she opened this place. I overall had a great time. Compared to the higher end eau de parfum like Gucci or Dior that can cost over $100, the Sol products are well priced and fun sprays for every day use. We also came for some Too Faced mascara which looks very nice. Since I use a variety of products, usually from Ulta, this is a nice option. Especially since some of the products are Sephora exclusive, like the Sol products. The reason for the three stars is for the Sephora corporation and not the individual store. The store is great! It is for their costumer program. At Ulta, for every $100 you spend, you earn $3 back. That is not hard to do, things cost a lot of money right now, and it you have people with, for instance, long hair, you spend a lot of shampoo, conditioner, maybe face products, and other essential items you need for daily hygiene. So, I get back that 3% once I hit that hundo. But Sephora will only give you a voucher after purchasing $500 worth of products! That is insane. You get a $10 voucher which will only cost you a little more than $300 at Ulta. This means, I would rather spend my money at Ulta as a consumer. They both seem to offer free shipping, but still, Ulta wins on this level. Stating the above, I do enjoy shopping in person and like the vibe of this store and this mall. So they will see me around often.
