Obviously ulta products are amazing but this one lady in there was so incredibly rude to me. Made me feel horrible because it was one minute after close and I had no idea. of course i would've checked out sooner if I had known. Shes a heavier set lady with dark long hair and said "better head up front if you like to keep the items your holding" and spoke in a tone that deemed me a child. Im 20 and look younger than i am. I love going to Ulta for a variety of different reasons, and this is the closest to my home. If you've met me before, I have very wild crazy hair, and try to find stuff to tame it down so it's way less frizzy. So I come here for products and such. But, I will say, I do have a few hang ups with them. For starters, they are crazy expensive. I can probably get most of their stuff online at amazon cheaper then for what they sell it for here. Also, they don't always carry what I need. How is this possible you say? It is. I use a lotion for my feet in between pedicures called Glysolid. They used to sell it at one point, but don't carry it any more. Even when they did sell it, some of the staff was aware, others were not. The staff here is really helpful and nice. I like to hit their clearance sections to see what they have. Sometimes I find stuff that I like, other times I don't. Hours are great and it's fun to see the different products. Will I return? Of course. I always do. But, I usually end up purchasing my stuff online when I can since it's way cheaper there. read more

I came back here about a week ago as I was in a pinch. The ladies working seemed to be a lot friendlier and a lot more helpful than the ones I had encountered on my previous visit. I had one lady help me find exactly what I was looking for, and she offered to use the product on me and show me how to use it. I wasn't in a hurry, so I obliged. She then proceeded to give me a full makeover, throwing a handful of products at me. If there is one thing I absolutely hate about shopping, it's people who try to sell you things that you don't need. She kept telling me how awesome these products were, and how they were so much better than what I was currently using. I know she was just trying to get some sales, but COME ON, you can't compliment me on my makeup and then go tell me that what I'm using sucks. read more

Ulta is great, this location in particular is nice because they never run out of your favorite products! From drug stores to department stores, this store has it all. I love to check out all of the new nail polish colors and funky new eye shadows by Urban Decay. The hair irons come in all shapes, colors, and purposes, and there's even a salon inside to pamper yourself. Be sure to get the club card for coupons! OOh, there's also a Benefit Bar, that sells all of your favorite benefit products. Did I mention the perfume to the right of the entrance? Bring your coffee beans, better yet, they provide them! This Ulta is not managed very well. Every time I have been in to the store, the checkout is very slow. It doesn't matter if 1 person in line or 10 people. The cashier are trying to handle each personal problem themselves instead of call for someone to come help. This causes the next people in line to stand and wait till the issue is resolved. They need to have a backup cashier or sales person to come assist. read more

I have been using the salon here at Rochester Ulta for a few years and I am always so happy with the outcome. Whether it has been just a blowout, a new hair cut/style or an entire color change, I've always loved the finished result. Right now I am growing out my grey hair, so I have two different textures. Pros: Store continues to be well stocked and pretty well maintained despite a high volume of customers. Sales associates are very eager to help and answer questions. Cashiers are very patient and willing to explain promotions or coupons. Cons: I find items that have been opened for swatching purposes e.g. Butter London nail lacquers with broken seals on them. I don't understand how this could still occur considering there are almost twice the amount of sales associates than there were in the past. Nevertheless, customer service has improved so much that I could no longer sit idly by, unimpressed. I'm really quite please by the complete 180 this store has managed in so short a time. Not only is this store much better than Sephora, it's cheaper, you get monthly coupons AND they give you an insane amount of samples. I just spend $50 online and received 12 samples, medium - small sized, and a large makeup case! The girls that work here and some of the nicest employees I have ever come across, especially the managers. They all deserve raises because I would never shop at Ulta as much if it weren't for them. They have given me full sized samples and have gladly given more samples of makeup on the floor. I don't even ask for them and they offer it. I definitely recommend this store to others, great service! read more

I recently had my hair done with Bridget and she did amazing job. I saw her a couple of years ago and then tried three other stylists at some locations closer to my home but nobody was even nearly as good as she. So eventually I returned to her and she did amazing full head highlights to my hair. Going to return to her next time as well for sure. read more

I have been coming to ULTA since I moved to Michigan. However, over the past 3-4 months I have had horrific service by the Salon at ULTA. I am so furious, I went to the store specifically to make an appointment for my daughter, we take her into for her appointment and the stylist is very quick to say "I don't have an appointment with her"... my daughter generally prefers to store manager, but when she wasn't available we asked for the next stylist. But, this same stylist was the one who told me that if I was going to be late, not to come at all. I was 10 minutes late... You wouldn't believe the times that I have had to walk into the store and wait 10 minutes. Not to mention, the time I had an appointment for me and my daughter and go into the store and find out my daughters appointment had been canceled (no phone call) and my appointment was given to someone else. This is for a customer that was going quite regular every two weeks for over 2 years. Not to mention the people that I have sent to the store, well... I want give anymore recommendations.... it feels like the stylist have decided that they've gotten too busy that they don't need customers. No worries, I want be back!!!! read more

This review is for the salon at Ulta in Rochester Hills. I was having my hair cut at a much pricier and upscale salon in downtown Royal Oak. However, I got tired of the drive, the high prices, and the snooty atmosphere. I made an appointment at this salon for my daughter to have her hair put up for Homecoming. Ashley did a great job! Alexa's hair looked fantastic. Everyone was friendly. I made an appointment to have my hair cut. I got a great haircut and blow-out from John and on a Sunday! Very happy to say we will be regulars at this salon. Prices are reasonable. Salon is very clean. Staff is friendly and fun. We left with great looking hair that didn't break my wallet! read more

I get my highlights and haircuts here at the Ulta Salon regularly! Most of the time I see Jessica when she can fit me in her busy schedule. She does a great job on my red highlights (on black hair). Red hair color does not stay in my hair very long but Jessica is able to make it last as long as possible. Service can be slow. I went in with a coupon for $5 off a $10 sale. I had 3 nail polishes that totaled $10.41 . Neither counter assistant could get the coupon to go through and then made it sound like I had something wrong. At one point they told me I could have the coupon value applied as they would do me a "favor "this time. This small purchase was for girls in a foster child program that I am involved in. I was so frustrated with their issues and the lack of understanding that either they had or I had they I walked out without my purchase. I usually buy all my products at this Ulta....but I will probably reconsider . read more

A friend and I walked in on a weekday morning curious and eager to buy some bare minerals products. The only issue was that we weren't sure exactly which products we needed. After circling the display (and the entire cosmetic area for that matter) more than once, no one came to offer guidance. We were confused why no one was coming over to help us when we were obviously so interested in the products. Soon we realized the employees own conversation were much more important than sales. A total of 30 mins in the store with money ready to be spent, and we left with nothing. I gave two stars because of their product selection. Other than that, I don't plan on coming back here. I absolutely love shopping here. Every employee is incredibly knowledgeable & kind. The service is quick & efficient and never aggressive or sales-y. They truly want to help you. I was looking for a specific shade of nail polish & if was lodged in the display and was the last bottle. The girl worked with me & we freed it together! Another time an employee very enthusiastically helped me find a cologne for my boyfriend despite me not giving her much help in knowing what he'd like. She helped me find the perfect one & it's now become his signature scent. They are honest about products while being professional. Ie when deciding to purchase the hyped up Tarte Shape Tape the girl asked questions about how I normally apply concealer & what I needed it for. She let me know it was a highlighting product vs a product to actually conceal pimples. They're eager to help you try products & let you know honestly what colors are best & have color matched me correctly every time I've needed it. Brow Bar is hard to get into so you really need an appointment & can't plan on just walking in, but I'm not taking off a star for that because the quality of work is excellent & well worth the pre-planning of scheduling an appointment. Fast & efficient cashiering with nice conversation. The best part is the rewards system, you actually get $$ off vs a dinky sample size product. Love this location so much, cannot say enough good things! read more

Highly do not recommend this ulta. Nothing but horrible customer service and it was such a problem using the coupon that they were handing out at the door. Had my eyebrows done and was told by numerous employees that I could use the $10 off coupon on my brow service. Get to the register and I am told I'm not allowed to use it yet it doesn't state on the coupon that it excludes benefit brow services. I asked the girl to get a manager and she gave me an attitude about it. The manager comes over and says no you can only use it on retail products. Again, where does it state that on the coupon??? No where. She tries changing the amount of the service and "it won't allow her to override it". Took 15 minutes for her to just say if I give you a $10 gift card to use on your service would that be acceptable? I said yes and that I wouldn't be coming back here, I'll stick to my normal ulta. She then stated that she's the general manger and that any other ulta would struggle just as much as she did. I don't care about the struggle, the customer service at my regular ulta is 100 times better. They wouldn't have given me such a hard time about the stupid coupon and it sure as hell wouldn't have taken them 15 minutes to say " if I give you a gift card would that be acceptable?" They really need to work on their customer service at the Rochester location. If I could rate this store zero stars I would. read more

This is my favorite place to get my Bare Essentials products and Ulta's brand of cosmetics are awesome. Fun eyeshadow colors that are high quality and super affordable. This particular store is huge, clean and I've never had any employees follow me around the store. In fact when I asked one where something was she walked me right to the item. don't bother coming here unless you want to be treated like you don't exist, buy damaged product, and hear the gossip of what's going on in their stylist lives. My first issue came over a month ago when I watched a stylist put a damaged bottle of hair oil that had been definitely used back on the shelf because she's too lazy to fill out a damage receipt and would rather just have someone return it later. after dealing with a manager they apologized over and over. today I decided to give them another try because my grandma needed to find a blue eyeshadow. we had been in the store for nearly an hour and not one associate came up to us to ask, and when i asked for a blue cream eyeshadow to an associate who was helping someone she said "I don't know" she didn't offer to call someone or send us to someone else who could better help. I finally had to sit my grandma in a chair and do all the makeup for her while two other associates gossiped about their holiday plans. From now on I'll take the 30 minute drive to Sephora to not deal with this. read more

The service here is terrible. I was in here recently and not one person asked to see if they could help me find something. Even worse, there was a line of at least 3 people waiting to check out and only one cashier, no backup ever requested. The manager was up at the desk and failed to request any backup as well and instead chose to ignore the line and deal with a service worker. While she was clearly busy, she still could have found a proactive solution or minimally thanked the line for their patience. Not the first time I have found this store to be unhelpful... I'll forego future stops here. Not worth the time!! read more
