Last month I visited Dr. Tammy Cook for the 1st time and I've thought long and hard and finally decided to leave a review. I'm 51 years old and moved to Bath just over a year ago after vacationing here for twenty-five years. I haven't had a cavity since the 4th grade maybe because I get my teeth cleaned and brush. My daughter went to Dr. Cook and was happy so being due for a cleaning I scheduled an appointment. The office is just off Washington Street with lots of parking. The lobby is very nice and folks seem happy, professional and polite. Because I haven't had any dental issues as an adult I asked if we could skip the initial x-rays or if they could contact my previous dentist an obtain my digital records. To their credit they did contact my previous dentist and my x-rays were a few years old (even if you have perfect teeth you should get x-rays done at least every three years) so I begrudgingly agreed to redo them. The procedure took roughly 30 minutes, was uncomfortable and it seemed like every tooth was imaged individually. During my cleaning Dr. Cook popped in for a few minutes, said I didn't have any cavities, some old fillings would likely need work and I would need a two appointment cleaning and left. I asked the wonderful hygienist (she is also a private pilot and we connected over the common love of flying) if she would finished up assuming I wasn't coming back in a week. At the reception desk I made an appointment for the following year and said I wasn't coming back for the additional cleaning. A week later I got a form letter saying that "we were not a good match" and telling me to find another dentist. WTH? My hygienist was awesome and I had just spent $390 bucks to get an initial exam and cleaning but I wasn't welcome back? Having a form letter, seemingly ready to go and unleashed after meeting someone for three minutes didn't seem right. In my line of work I too have easy, difficult, profitable and non-profitable clients. I don't get to pick and choose "for whom I bake a cake for." My hope is Dr. Cook will read this and change her mind and see me again or at least tell me what I did wrong. read more

I made an appointment to have my teeth cleaned at Bath Family Dental in June but wasn't seen for almost 3 months. I was very clear that this was what I wanted and was told I would need to get x-rayed as this was routine. I figured a few bite wings, so ok. Got to my appointment and was told I would have 18 films taken ($105), the dr would come see me ($110), my gums would be checked and "if there was time" my teeth would be cleaned for an additional $145. In other words, $350 or no dice. I left. This is my 2nd time at this office & both times I have gotten a bad, unhappy vibe from the place. I won't be back. read more

My husband and I have both been going to Bath Family Dental for a couple years now. They are easy to reach if we need to reschedule appointments. I love the text and email appointment confirmations. They don't make us do unnecessary procedures, and they fit our dental needs. They are also quick to remember names and faces, and they make you feel welcome and comfortable. read more

I've been going here for several years and have no complaints about my care. With retirement coming up and looking to control expenses I asked David, the office manager, what in-network did they accept. He didn't respond, so during further appointments I would ask if he was there. On the third time he said they accepted Delta Dental as in-network. When open enrollment season opened I changed to Delta Dental. While checking out after my first cleaning under the new plan he asked me if I wanted to pay for the uncovered portion of the cleaning or get billed. I told him that in-network cleanings were 100% covered. He responded that they had "a problem" with Delta paying. I was billed for 10% of the cleaning. Which I paid. Checking with Delta i found out that Bath Family Dental in not truly in-network, but is listed as a "Premier Dentist" and charges out of network fees. I won't be using them again due to David's misleading statements. If they can't be honest they don't deserve my business. read more

Not only is the office super professional and pleasing to the eye, but Ashleigh is a wonderful hygienist. It was my first time at bath family dental and Ashleigh made me so comfortable. She was super nice and very thorough, giving me some great tips. I'm already looking forward to going back! read more

I do not get a chance to see Dr. Cook (because I have great teeth!) All the hygienists are great and friendly. David up front is awesome and remembers all of my family. My husband started with Dr Sawyer and he was great. - I recommend them. read more

I always have a good experience at Bath Family Dental, and have been the practice's client for over 10 years. Dr. Cook and the staff are always professional in their approach, and very hospitable as well. The care has always been thorough and appropriate, and they use up-to-date technology and methods. I am a retired RN, and look for health care to be based on sound science which is clearly explained. That has been the case at BFD. I am very satisfied with my recent visit and all the visits I have had, and will continue as a client of the practice. read more

I tried Dr. Cooks office when I first moved to the Bath area. Things kept occurring and I should I left her office sooner. Procedures such as repairing a tooth were not done correctly and had to be repeated. Unfortunately it was her bed-side manner that sent me to switch. For one entire appointment she complained about the work that she was doing and that she had to be in. She can become very unpleasant when something does not go her way. I advise everyone to steer very clear of her. Googling her history came as no surprise to me. read more
