What I really want to do with this review is share with those who are more like me, who have never even considered something like energy work. Those who have perhaps even maligned it and thought "well, that is nonsense." Logic and analysis were more than a simple cornerstone of my life they have always been the utter foundation. So much so that I am a theoretical mathematician, so logic is how I support my family as well. In November of 2022 I was heading back to the second day of a 2-week solo beach trip from the funeral of my sister-in-law of almost 40 years, after her unexpected death. I was so weary from many "set-backs" including my own cancer and the death of a niece both in 2017. I have always been one who claimed, I can't meditate. On the drive from Charlotte back to IOP, I quite suddenly had the thought, "I am going to find someone who can help me try reiki and learn to meditate on this trip." The next morning, I typed it into Google and without reading much under each listing I simply picked the listing my intuition led me to choose. There was a short "contact us" form on which I only said something like "I am trying to learn to meditate but seem to struggle following some big events in my life such as cancer." I heard back fairly quickly and was astounded when Romain replied, "I think you might struggle with meditating at this point and likely need to consider some energy work first." I was astounded because he was so very right but how could he know that from the little I said? I saw Romain that day and for the remaining 9 weekdays of my trip. It was the beginning of what has been a life changing evolution. I made 5 trips, as opposed to my usual 2, to IOP in 2023 so that I could work with Romain in person. We were also connecting on Zoom most weeks while I was at home. For me the "job" was huge so the time commitment was necessary. I have "only" been to IOP 2 times so far in 2024. I won't bore you with the details but I can say I am, perhaps for the first time in my 59 years, at peace. Not every second of every day but there is a new foundation of my life and peace is a big part of it. It has been my experience that there is no greater gift you can give yourself than to take advantage of the amazing opportunity to work with Romain. If you allow it, your life will be so much the better for it.

The road in is pure washboard -- about 13 miles of bump city -- so make sure you have a 4-wheel drive and that nothing inside your car is loose. Fossil Creek is absolutely stunning, and bonus -- no permit needed after October 1st. The other thing says this trail is easy. No, it's not to be careful if you're taking somebody elderly over that doesn't have good mobility because there's some rocks you had a climb and what not also make sure you take plenty of water to drink and a little snack everything you pack in your pack. I would also suggest leaving the house by three 330. No later you don't wanna be hiking in the pitch dark.

I wish I knew more before going. I need to know more information about how things work at Fossil Creek. Even after going, though we enjoyed ourselves, I still don't know how it works. There were no signs telling you where you can access trails to get to the creek. You just had to guess. I found a trail at our Homestead parking lot, but it was very steep and a little dangerous. We found a spot okay in the shade but was very small for our party of 6. We worked so hard getting down there that we just made it work. After leaving we went up the road a little way in our vehicle to see what the other spots looked like, but I saw no bridge or easy access from The Bridge parking lot either, and the road was just way too bumpy. I hope my wife's suspension is okay on her Mazda CX-5. The information before going should've told us about the road and what to expect, basically how to plan. It's all a guessing game. I could've asked the Ranger lady more questions, but I didn't know what to ask. My boss made things sound different. Apparently you can't drive people to the waterfall trailhead anymore. You have to walk over 2 miles on a dusty dirt road in over 100 degrees with vehicles driving by kicking up dust. That makes no sense whatsoever. We enjoyed our time at the water. Everything else leading up to it and after it we could've done without. I don't see us coming back unless we have someone with better suspension and/or better knowledge of the area. Thank you.

Hike- Put lots of sunscreen on, bring a hat, lots of water, some snacks of food, and the right shoes! The hike itself is not bad, it's pretty much flat for the most part. It does have some incline, but nothing an average person can't handle. I think the only reason people complain because the heat drains out a lot of energy and water in your body. If you do feel tired they do have a couple shaded areas by trees to rest. Keep following the signs that say Bell Trail. You do have options to stop and check out other smaller cliffs and little river pools but we chose to see the big cliff. Take it slow, enjoy the view and make it all the way to end of bell trail and jump of the cliff! It's amazing . You can spend basically the whole day there if you want but have what you will need in your backpack for that day.

If water is murky, don't assume it's shallow. Water was pretty clear when we went.

Trail is marked with carin, since trail is less traveled, look for carin to stay on the trail. First water hole is deep enough for cliff jump. If you arrive early in the morning, water and lights are perfect to take reflecting images. Water stays cold even in the summer. No restrooms or drinking water available, bring plenty of water and food when visiting this trail

The upper lake was fairly crowded and a bit noisy (sound really carries there), but it's a beautiful spot overall--small, peaceful, and scenic. We stayed for about two hours, didn't catch anything, but did spot a few fish swimming around. Still a pleasant visit!

I'm giving it a 3-star review mainly because the lake has recently been drained and they want it to refill naturally, so it's unclear when water levels will return to normal. There is also a $5 day-use fee to enter the park. You can pay cash or card. Currently, the park opens at 7:00 AM and the gates close at 5:00 PM. The trail around the lake is about 2.5 miles and offers a few different routes, including at least one path that leads to a small waterfall (or what would be a waterfall if the lake wasn't drained). The west side of the lake is more paved and level, making it easier for walking, while the east side is more rugged with a dirt trail. One thing to add, the bathrooms were clean, but they had smell in them was hard to ignore and really unpleasant. Overall, it's still a nice area for a casual walk around the lake, especially if you're in the area.
