i came into BRG for severe dizziness & irregular heart palpitations. i was seen almost immediately, & blood work & fluids began directly after. i was extraordinarily afraid, as this was a first time feeling for me, but i was met with an amazing medical team. Charlene is absolutely the nicest woman i've ever met. she cares about her 'babies' as she calls us & she was in tune with everything i needed. got me a blanket when my fluids started to make me cold, even made me laugh a few times. i'm sure she could tell i was petrified. i won't name the nurse who blew TWO of my veins in less than 3 minutes, but i WILL SAY that Rachel took over my IV process & didn't make me uncomfortable once. once Rachel took over it was definitely smooth sailing. thanks to all of you guys who cared enough to make me feel better about my situation when i felt hopeless. will 10000% be coming back & recommending this place to others. read more

They charged me over 100 dollars for a flu test, and I had to ask dozens of times for an itemized bill to understand why I was being charged so much. I took my boyfriend there on Friday July 3. 2026. The nurse sucked. He got upset because i was asking questions about the medication they were putting in his iv. My boyfriend was sweating profusely, dizziness and vomiting . His blood pressure was 116/173. They didn't give him anything for his bp. The nurse released him with no wheelchair. Just expected him to be able to walk out after being diagnosed with Vertigo. It was HORRIBLE! The tech was really sweet and helpful. I will NEVER GO BACK THERE FOR ANYTHING. read more

This applies to the small clinic on south Bluebonnet. Two years and eight vistis ago I was diganosed with a terminal illness (CKD) with 3-5 years to live, by a doctor that was wearing children's pajamas, no socks and slippers. I never saw him again. But at the time I specifically told them I would be declining all further medical care when the time came. They made no note of this. Recently for the EIGHTH time in a row I did not consult with a doctor but a PEDIATRIC FNP. My blood tests showed OVERWHELMING evidence of Type 2 diabates on top of my terminal kidney disease which they COMPLETELY missed, even when I brought it up I was completely ignored. I was spoken to like a child who did not understand that my misery could be prolonged for "many many more years" when I have already declared my choice for no further care. My new insurance information that I had updated with them, they did not update with the testing service and I got billed for it. They told me this was my job to fix. This is not all but this is enough! I will no longer seek ANY medical care and will DIE IN PEACE! read more

Was bad off yesterday I went to the emergency room and was accessed in under 5 minutes. I was then brought back to a room where I was seen just about as fast. The drs, nurse's, blood lab techs and radiation staff were fast, professional and so sweet and kind. They got me fixed up and feeling better pretty quickly. I am SUPER THANKFUL!! I was able to go home and sleep in my own bed and although I'm still sick I know have everything I need to get well and I'm feeling sooooo much better. read more

Excellent care from the moment I entered ER until my discharge 6days later. I underwent surgery for hip fracture. Every last employee, from docs to security guards made my stay comfortable. I never needed or wanted for anything - entire staff was on top of everything. Completely incompetent system. I went here for labs, they didn't mention that they have an upstairs lab (with Epic) and a downstairs lab (without Epic). They made me sit for TWO HOURS while they called my doctor to have the labs faxed over, rather than sending me to the upstairs lab. Then, they didn't fax my lab results to my doctor. I waited FOUR weeks for results, and ultimately had to go back to the lab to pick them up myself. It is completely unacceptable that Baton Rouge General ER can't communicate with Baton Rouge General Clinics. There is NO excuse for Baton Rouge General hospitals not to have Epic in 2024. read more

If you can make it alive to another emergency room, please do it. - when I arrived, the entire road to the emergency room was blocked off by construction. There was a detour sign that pointed to nowhere. I rolled down my window to ask someone with an official ID how to get into the emergency room and they said no clue. My instructions from someone inside the hospital ended up being to drive through the parking lot, park as close as possible, and walk to the entrance. This, obviously, would be absurd for anyone with a disability or an emergency where they couldn't walk or wait to park. - when I walked in, the emergency room was completely empty with nobody at the front desk. The leisurely attitude of the staff member who came out of a back room from eating a snack to check me in did not have any feeling of urgency - I have a fairly common mental disorder called anxiety. It happens to be severe/extreme and triggered by doctor's offices. The staff were completely clueless as to how to manage the mental health emergency that was happening alongside my physical emergency. I ended up being the one to request that they medicate me so I could calm down enough to receive treatment without having to be strapped to the table. They acted like this wasn't possible until I specifically requested that they give me two Xanax, which they did. Immediately after I swallowed them they started trying to draw blood and put in an IV whilst I was flailing and hyperventilating uncontrollably. I asked them repeatedly to please wait at least until the meds kicked in, to please stop touching me, and they refused. Every time I started to calm down a little someone would forcefully grab my arm which made me increasingly distrustful and almost led to me fleeing the room. This lasted for an hour and a half. - I finally gave in to the persistent nurse and let her hold my arm while the rest of me flailed uncontrollably. She got the IV part way in, started taking blood, then, obviously, since I was flailing uncontrollably, the IV fell out and my blood sprayed all over the bed. This obviously did nothing to help my ongoing panic attack. She couldn't find another vein and left the room for a long time. - after a while the doctor came back in and reported that they had basically given up on trying to get an IV in me, after multiple hours of imploring me that it was important to check my blood count and do a CT scan. Suddenly they were tired of me and decided to send me home with two antibiotics. - My primary care doctor later told me that this was overtreating my symptoms and they should not have given me harsh antibiotics without knowing what was wrong with me at all. These antibiotics completely wrecked my stomach and I lost 5 pounds in a few days, turning a potential case of food poisoning into a weeklong nightmare. - after they gave up on me, my xanax finally kicked in, and I asked them to please continue trying to test me because I was worried for my safety. They sent a different nurse in ( a better, calmer nurse ) who found a vein that the other nurse could not. I waited a while for the test results to come back and they said I couldn't get accurate results because I was freaking out too bad which made my blood congeal too fast. My family member who is a nurse says that this is not true and was probably their fault. - after getting no results from my bloodwork, the doctor inexplicably decided a CT scan wasn't necessary. At this point I was too traumatized and drugged up to even ask questions. - they let me walk on my own through the parking lot to find my ride. I barely remember this besides being confused and in bright light. My mom said she couldnt believe they just released me like that, with my car keys in hand, while zonked out of my mind. This was my first time getting an IV in my life, one of my biggest fears. It was wholly traumatizing and honestly this experience makes me not even want to go to an emergency room ever again. read more

Went in for a dog bite on my 19 month old son. From the time of the accident to the time we got home from BRG ER was one hour. They called us to triage before we could sit down. When we got to the back, the RN & NP were so pleasant to deal with. NP thoroughly checked the site of the bite and called the Dr in for a second opinion before proceeding. Once the Dr confirmed the NP's decision, he was so good with our son and had us back home in no time. I'm very grateful to the RN (Alyssa, I believe), NP (Frank) & Dr (Kelly, I believe) for their care of our son! Thank y'all so much! read more

I gave 3 stars cause my Dr Keith Rhynes a was a great doctor, my nurse of the 4th floor Byruce was also, great and compassionate he checked on me even if I didn't call, the nurses Aubrie took a hour and a half to respond to me to get pain medication, and Brittany also took 45 minutes to get pain medication to me, i thought this hospital was a good hospital, but it was very disappointing, I def would not suggest this hospital if are all possible! Was getting discharge today, they decided I didn't deserve lunch,when I told them I fight get lunch they offered a sandwich, i was on a liquid diet , i could not have a sandwich, I already was on a Liquid diet so they decided I should not eat at all! read more

Very disappointed. I visited early Sunday morning (9/8/19) with severe stomach and abdominal pain. Triage went quickly. However, the doctor came into the room and proceeded to tell me that I had been there a month before for the same issue. He said he was not going to do bloodwork or an IV. He ordered the nurse to me an injection and then discharged me. I have never been treated so unprofessionally in my life. I don't remember his name and it's not listed on any of the discharge documents. In sum, the wait was short and the triage nurse was sympathetic. Sadly, the ER room nurse and doctor seemed to "bothered" by my presence. I will not be going back to Baton Rouge General Emergency Department. Still in pain, I managed to drive to Our Lady of the Lake. I was pleasantly surprised by the compassionate care I received. I was significantly dehydrated and suffering with pancreatitis. The ER wait was longer than BRG, but the care was superior. read more

I would have put 0 stars but that was not an option. my mother arrived at 2 am by ambulance was brought to a bed In the hallway of the Er. now it is the next day at 2 pm she is still in the hallway we were told at 10 am we were being sent to a room and still just in the hallway. this can not be legal as people are doing treatment asking personal medical questions where everyone can hear. no privacy. She has no call button to get assistance. this is the worst experience ever. my My mother is 75 years old and a fall risk. They made me take her to the bathroom. No one is making sure that she is good. she was here 4 hours before anyone did anything except take her temperature. Worst experience ever. Would not recommend theirs ER to anyone. read more

I had a terrible surgical experience awhile back. I will never have any procedure here again. I developed medically induced ptsd years ago but suffered no long term symptoms until my experience at BRG. I am now terrified & untrusting of the medical field. I have a very complex surgical & medical history. I was severely under treated for several days after a serious surgery. The high doses of nsaids they pushed in lieu of more appropriate & traditional medicines caused me to hemorrhage. Thanks to the advice of the one staff mbr with sense, I pulled it from my schedule & within 12 hrs. the bleeding subsided. I would hope they have modified their protocol by now. read more

I'm surprised to see the negative reviews, but I actually received good care here. I was brought in by ambulance for what I though was very bad kidney stones. Once in the emergency room I was put on a bed in the hall. But I had my own little corner by the nurses station. My nurse was very nice and checked on me a lot. I was in a lot of pain and throwing up a good bit, but she was very patient with me. I ended up having to do a CT scan and an ultrasound. Everybody was nice and it really didn't take a long time. They put me in a room later and the doctor came to talk to me. I was told I had a mass on my ovary. So they referred me to a gynecologist at the general. She fit me in quickly and it was decided I had to have surgery. They called the surgeon and set up an appointment for me. The surgeon was great and made me feel comfortable. I did have a rough time after surgery, but not cause of the hospital. This was during covid time, so I was alone. But every nurse, assistant, food service person and house keeper were so nice and caring with me. It definitely helped my 3 day stay. I've been to the lake before and I would choose the general over the lake if I had to choose again. read more

Nobody there, husband in sever ear pain and they could care less to be in any sort of urgency. After reading all the reviews I can't believe they're still up and running.
