Brought a car in with one of their batteries that was purchased at another location, which is now out of business and told the representative that the battery was not holding a charge. I showed him the receipt for the battery which still had two months worth of warranty coverage. He brought out a tester and said that the battery was fine. I didn't believe him and it turned out I was correct. The Die Hard battery "died". My feeling is he just didn't want to take responsibility or be bothered for a warranty item from another store. I went to the Batteries Plus Store 280 in Elgin on Randall Road on January 21, 2026 to get a battery for my travel clock. I could not get off the back battery plate and asked store rep for assistance. The rep get the old battery out and replaced with new fresh battery in about 1 minute. I asked what I owed and was presented a $17.35 bill. I was not informed there was a charge for putting in the 3.00 battery. I did pay the bill and lodged a complaint with Battery Plus Corporate. To my great surprise Matt, the Store Manager, said he agreed with my assessment, had a meeting to instruct everyone to inform work costs before proceeding, and said that he would give me a full refund which he did on 2-4-2026. I am quite pleased that Matt was so forthright in giving my full purchase price back. I give high kudos to Matt and all the Batteries Plus store personnel. If I could give less than a 1 star review I would. I went into Batteries+ on Randall Rd. in Elgin yesterday to buy a car battery for my Corvette and they didn't have time to do it or didn't have the personnel. Either way I was fine when they told me they could do it the next day because their technician would be in at 11 am. They said just to be safe, come at 11:30 for the installation. No problem. I paid the nearly $200 up front and built my schedule around them. Today I came in at 11:30. There was a person ahead of me and as I waited, another person came in. When it was my turn, I let the gentleman after me go ahead of me because he looked a little tired. No problem. When it was my turn, I let them know I was here for my battery installation appointment. The lady at the register looked over at the technician and asked if he had time today to do it. He announced he had 2 watch batteries to replace and he didn't think he'd have time. I tried not to get upset and asked when would they have time? No one could give me a time or even a day. I simply asked for a refund and called another place and within 15 minutes my car was being worked on elsewhere. Shame on Batteries+ for being unprofessional and double shame on the lazy technician. So Batteries + lost my business...forever. There's plenty of businesses out there who would gladly take on a fairly simple install. Oh, I should mention I am 72 and disabled, living in nearly unbearable pain and barely able to walk but that didn't matter to the technician. Why, he had two watch batteries to replace today in the next 7 hours. I actually feel sorry for him. Wonder what it would feel like to have such a busy schedule like that. read more

If I could Give zero stars I would. Took My phone in today to get a simple battery replacement and they broke my phone. Gave me a $10 discount on the battery. In order for it to get fixed they need to send it out to a different company that fixes this. Couple days to a week without a phone, but don't worry they said they would not charge me for the repair to fix what they broke. The customer service in this place is a joke. The lady working next to the one explaining to me that they broke my phone was slamming items down on the counter and looked like she was about to explode. read more

I have been going to this store for years and I have definitely seen of the store members grow There is a young lady there She is very sweet she knows her job I needed help with my key fob and she did it with no problem she then proceeded to tell me everything they offer which was mind blowing I never knew all the things they do there. On top of that she was there alone and was picking up phones and helping everyone at the same time. I definitely will come back and will tell my friends about this place . Of course we didn't return. We are satisfied with the purchase and the store. The store is not quite noticeable from street. Wanted to share an experience I had with the owner of this business. I had taken many watches and other items in for batteries in the past and had always had good luck finding the right replacement battery. Recently I took a Skagen watch in for a battery replacement and the back of the watch would not come off and the store clerk accidently sliced the watch band trying to take off the back of the watch (ruined the watch). The owner of the store came out with the watch and apologized for what had happened. She insisted on replacing the watch. I told her where I had purchased it, which was 45 minutes away. She called that store and worked with them to get the same exact watch shipped to that store. Then she drove 45 minutes away to purchase the replacement watch. Now that's customer service!
