This ship was way bigger than i expected and holds so much history inside. Apparently it is 2.5 football fields! When I visited, the weather was a bit rainy, but luckily there are coverings and places to visit on the inside of ship. Our tour guide, Ryan, did a fantastic job of giving us the history of the ship, while also making it exciting. He was able to answer our questions and give us in depth answers. You can tell that he takes pride in this ship and wants to give good quality tours. The ship was clean and well organized with arrows guiding the direction. They have done a great job of preserving this ship. All of the staff were super friendly and helpful with smiles on their faces. Highly recommend checking this place out to get a quick history lesson and to be immersed in it. read more

The ship is neat, but they are just plain running a scam with the shuttles. They are selling more tickets than spaces and the wait is 30 minutes to an hour to get back to the parking lot. Not worth the wait especially when they have the nerve to charge $40 per person to visit. There are many steep staircases and narrow walkways so if you can't climb, it's not really something I would recommend. read more

I spend over two hours at this battleship Missouri Memorial and didn't even go to every room in a ship. I feel like I go to the maze, and I can get lost in the ship. I enjoy seeing how they present every room and giving information. lots of analog equipment, old computer, 80's style and before. The battleship is like a small city and has everything in it, rooms for officer and sailor, galley, kitchen, liberty, doctor office, shop, dental office, fire department, lawyer office, internet room etc. I get to see the deck that Japanese and American sign the formal surrender agreement. And actually, the next day after we visit the ship is September 2rd the 80th years celebration of the end of WWII that is why they put all flags to decorate the ship. after two hours I decide to get some rest and skip some floor and rooms because if I go to every detail, it will be more than one day to complete all museum. read more

This is a genuinely cool place to visit, along with the Arizona Memorial nearby. You literally feel the souls who fought for our freedom and it's simply amazing to see where these brave sailors served. We have a family member who served on her in Korea, something he carried with himself with pride for his whole life. Walking around the USS Missouri was like going back in time. Reading about the ship and its multiple tours of duty was great for a history geek like myself. It was a bit of a struggle for me to walk up and down the stairs and ladders as I had a total knee replacement just a few months ago, but all in all, a good experience. read more

We visited the Battleship Missouri on the last day of our trip to Hawaii. We did the Arizona Memorial first and were still able to hop on a shuttle to Ford Island with minimal wait in the late morning on a Saturday. I would recommend eating once you get there, the food options are much better at this site than the snack bar at Pearl Harbor. We enjoyed the food truck and covered seating. It took us about an hour and a half to go through the Missouri as the self-led option. Not sure how long with a guide. We weren't rushed during that time and we got in line for the shuttle back around 2:15pm. The line was long and took over 30 min for us to get on a bus when we had to meet our tour bus back at Pearl Harbor at 3:15pm. They stop at the aviation museum next so you need to factor that in. This is a must see when visiting Pearl Harbor so make sure you allot enough time to experience it and get back. read more

Pearl Harbor: the most important WWII site in the States. If you're on Oahu, there's no question about it. Make a day out of visiting everything that this historic site has to offer. And a highlight of that will be the Battleship Missouri Memorial. Once you arrive at Pearl Harbor, you will have to take a bus to get to this battleship and museum. You'll be glad you did. Once you arrive, you will be captivated by the size of the battleship. And all of the flags on the walkway leading up to it. It's a touching moment. From there, explore the battleship where Japan officially surrendered, ending WWII. There's plenty to read and plenty to explore. Both on deck and below deck. And there's air conditioning in most spots which is always appreciated. This is such an important historical site that I felt very fortunate to have the time to explore it fully for about two hours or so. You can also participate in a free tour if that's more your style. Outside of the battleship, they also have a gift shop and some dining options. I didn't eat but I did grab a souvenir at the gift shop. read more

This tour is one of my meaningful ones in Hawaii. We booked a full Pearl Harbor Tour and this is one of our stops. Guided tours were available but we preferred being on our own. We took our time checking out the ins and outs of the ship - it was very easy navigating it as there were signs everywhere, guiding you where to go every step of the way. My friends and I love to read so we took time reading all the posts and historical notes in each section. The ship is amazingly almost like a city on its own. We saw the cramped quarters of the soldiers, their mess hall, dental office, post office, kitchen, board game/card games tables, bakery. We've always known the valor of our soldiers and veterans, but being inside this ship made all of their sacrifices look real and tangible. read more

For any first time visitor to the island, Pearl Harbor area is a must!! Once I made it onto the ship, I was greeted and was informed I could tour the ship via a complimentary tour or I can tour the ship on my own. I decided to join the tour group, the guide was very informative, however, I was on a time schedule and with all of the questions from the attendees, I decided to tour the ship myself. The plaques throughout the ship with very helpful. The ship is huge with many narrow passages and stairs/ladders. The interior was massive with all of the various areas such as the sleeping quarters, the kitchen, work areas, the mail room, and even the dentist office. This ship is an icon of the glory of the United States of America. The guns were big! The inside was like a city that many people lived in. I was born in Japan. I was standing at the quarterdeck where the Japanese delegation signed the instrument of the surrender on September 2nd, 1945. I Regarding the museum of the inside, I found the Kamikaze exhibition. I saw letters written by the pilot. I saw a big figure of the famous kissing sailer on the outside. Luckily, the war is over. we enjoy the peace. Time: Sunday morning This is a great preservation of the battleship that can be seen first hand through tours. Of course they're trying to make money while they're at it to help with the restoration process. So there are many parts that are off limits to the basic general admission ticket and you have to pay more to go see the other parts. But outside of that, the general admission ticket is worth the cost of what you get to see and experience. We have base access so we did not have to take the park service bus to get there, which meant we arrived at 8:00 a.m. before anyone was visiting. We were the first on the ship and had the time to visit and see everything before I got crowded. It was a great experience to be able to see the signatures and stand where the surrender occurred. They've got it in case in glass, but you can see everything right there on the spot where it happened. Even though the time frame was different, it's a great way to show someone the life of a sailor and what they experience on a ship, including how small the bunks are. And the food that they ate and so on and so forth. For me it was a reminder of all the times I busted my shins or hit my head going through the passageways. Also, they have a very lovely gift shop, surprisingly. One of the better ones for a tourist attraction. There were a couple different places that you could get snack food in that Maine area before you board the ship. However, it is more expensive and if you have bakes access then you can go to the tiny shopette down the road for a full selection of food and beverages including subway. But if you're coming on the park service bus then just know you do have a small selection while there. read more

All-in-all the ship itself is excellently preserved, especially for sitting in less-than-ideal conditions year round. The museum staff are helpful and knowledgeable. The issue I have is with the cost of going aboard for what you get to visit: If you are active military the cost of admission is $30. If you are civilian the cost of admission is $40. This admission basically allows you into the berthing spaces, the bridge, and certain other below deck areas. These prices do not include seeing the turrets/gunhouses (who wants to go aboard a ship with 16in guns and not see them), the combat engagement center, the plot rooms, the communications rooms, or the engine rooms. To visit the turrets and the engine rooms is another $32 (total of $62 for military, or $72 civilian). To visit CEC and the radio rooms is an additional $32 as well. Out of the 4 Iowa-class battleships extant, the Missouri is the most expensive and most restrictive. For comparison, admission to the USS New Jersey is $30 for civilians, and free for military. This price includes everything above at no extra cost. I would recommend seeing the USS Missouri only if you are unable to visit another Iowa. read more

OPEN HOURS: Monday - Sunday 8am to 4pm.. Closed on Federal Holidays Amazing experience! This memorial is a MUST if you are visiting Oahu and want something cool to do/see. We came during a special event where they were celebrating the Mighty Mo's birthday on Jan. 29 and admission was free to local Hawaii residents, active-duty military, veterans, retirees and their dependents with ID. I found the ad on Instagram because I follow their page and get insight on the events that take place on the ship. We visited on a Sunday and the weather was a bit cloudy but for some reason it wasn't as crowded as I thought it would be and the clouds kept things cool and comfortable. Usually the ship's deck can get really hot during the day and I've been around when people actually passed out or had some medical condition take place because of the heat, so please stay hydrated when you go. TO BUY TICKETS I recommend you click on the link they have posted here on their Yelp page above or you can google for them. The website will have all the information you need regarding tickets, how to plan your visit, directions to the ship if you're driving and a lot more. Tickets can be purchased online or at the ticket booth next to the ship and costs $34.99 for adults and $17.49 for children. PARKING is available to the right side before the restroom facility and there are plenty of stalls to choose from. The earlier you come, the closer to the ship you can park. It's all based on first come, first serve and it's free. The parking closer to the ship is reserved so don't go to that area because you will have to turn around. RESTROOMS are available in the building located before you enter the fence to go to the ship. They also have restrooms available on board. Just ask one of the ship tour guides or other volunteers for directions. IF YOU'RE HUNGRY they have a snack stack and food trucks available to purchase a quick bite to eat at. They menus have a good range of items to choose from and include shave ice, beverages, Hawaiian plate lunches, burgers, hotdogs, chili fries, salads and more! I posted photos of the menus if you're interested! THINGS I RECOMMEND you bring with you before you go: Sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, cold bottled water (they don't allow open beverages on board), camera, snacks, small bag/backpack. Wear comfortable shoes and clothes because you will be doing a lot of walking and climbing many stairs/ladders. Plan to be here at least 3-4hrs because that's how long my visit was to include the basic tour of their exterior, self-guided tour of the interior, a stop at the snack stand and a visit to their souvenir store. There's so much to see and take in that you'll feel so immersed in the ship's history and I promise it's worth it. Overall, my other half and I had an amazing experience! We enjoyed every bit of our time there and would love to bring our friends and family the next time around. The workers were all wonderful, knowledgeable, welcoming and have great customer service. The ship itself was easy to navigate thanks to all the signs and arrows guiding you along the way. The detailed descriptions everywhere kept you inclined and were very informative. I learned so many things I didn't know before about the Mighty Mo until after my visit and now I have such a greater respect for the battleship and am soo proud of its presence here in Hawaii. Thank you for such an amazing time Mighty Missouri!! I'll be back again in the future. **ONE MORE THING: Please donate or purchase items in their souvenir store! Every cent counts and goes towards the maintenance of the ship and allows this memorial to function every day of the week. They are not funded by the government and rely on everyone who visits. My father in a wheelchair and he was able to do most of the tour. Honestly, you could do the tour as often as you wanted. Each tour guide has a bit of a different spin. One of the most iconic ships of the US Navy, the Battleship Missouri is a majestic tribute to the US Military. Having a chance to walk though and climb on this piece of history shouldn't be missed. Not only that, after you are done with the guided tour (probably 30 minutes or so), you get to do the self guided tour as well. It's so humbling to stand in the exact spot that one of the most important moments in human history (end of WWII) took place. The Battleship Missouri is an impressive sight. You can take a guided tour or tour the ship on your own. You can stand in the spot where the Japanese surrendered to the Allied Forces to end WW2. I would suggest not utilizing a tour company when visiting this location. Our tour only spent about two hours at the ship and you could easily spend and entire day going through the ship. The ship is impressive. The size of its main guns is amazing. Standing on the deck looking over at the Battleship Arizona Memorial was very interesting. I slept over on the ship with my daughters 5th grade class. It was spooky but amazing to learn about the history and sleep where sailors slept. Yes, we heard things. It was only our group of about 20 people and one security guard over night + all the souls that decided to stick around. The crew shared ghost stories with us. There's a lot of activity on the ship and you just have a feeling like you are not alone. The ship is where WWII ended and it's parked right by where the war began, the USS Arizona Memorial (Pearl Harbor) I do not want to sleep here again - who am I kidding, I didn't sleep ha ha!! I'm already telling my husband he has to go with our 2nd daughter when she goes to 5th grade bc I don't want to stay overnight here again! I'm fine visiting, but would rather sleep in my King bed than an cramped bunk! read more

In the same area where the beginnings of WWII in Pacific took place, the battleship that signaled the end of WWII is located. The Mighty Mo took the surrender of Japan in Tokyo Harbor, fought in the Korean War and Desert Storm. The main deck has a identifier showing where the surrender was signed. When standing on the deck you understand how long 3 football fields. There is a lot to see on the ship: where the crew ate, slept, how they lived and worked. Lots of small cramped spaces. This was an amazing visit. This was a very immersive and interactive experience. You can get a guided tour of the Missouri, but we chose to explore it at our own pace. You can walk through the majority of the ship and they have many parts of it set up "as it was" with realistic props. I'm fairly certain they even went as far as adding scents to certain sections of the ship to enhance the atmosphere and make it seem very much like you were traveling back to that time and walking through the ship as it was still in use. There was a small museum of sorts inside of it about Japanese kamikaze pilots that was both heartbreaking and fascinating. This ship is a less somber site at Pearl Harbor than many of the other things you can visit, as it wasn't sunk and was even where World War II ended. Even with that said, the proper respect and care is given within the ship to those who lost their lives throughout the times this ship was in use. I appreciate that it can be both a celebration of wins, and a memorial for what we, as humans, lose in war. To me, this was well worth the admission price and you can easily spend multiple hours exploring this ship. read more

Mighty Mo is a must see! Especially for boys ages 5 and up and all history lovers. We came here for the first time to see the Pacific Aviation Museum a while back. We stopped here first and my son wanted to see this magnificent battleship so we were bound to come back soon and we did! It was my son and my first time but my husband has already been here. We went on Living History Day where it was free for Kamaaina, military, and Mighty Mo members. It was a pretty busy day plus it was on the weekend so parking was a little scarce. *dont bring your purse/bag or you'll end up paying for a bag locker. Security won't let you in otherwise. Luckily I remembered and have a phone/wallet case. After passing security, (gift shop on the left) walk straight ahead to buy your tickets, but be careful and read the sign. The tours are separated by different stations. Some require a slideshow viewing. After that, turn to your right, walk towards the infamous ballistic missles, turn right again and follow people out to the bus. Buses come and go every 15minutes. There is dip n dots with 3 select flavors Banana split, Cookies and Cream, and mint chocolate chip. There is a gift shop as well. All at Battleship Missouri. To enter Mighty Mo, walk towards the left to the tent. You get to take pictures, which you can pay for later, and then you can enter the battleship. Like I said before, first stop drops you off at the Mighty Mo. Fortunately the bus also picks up people there first so you have a higher chance of scoring a seat for the short ride back. read more

So this battleship, with massive guns the width of a person that extend like 40' out into the air, is considered out of date? If that doesn't leave you in awe about the US military, nothing will. Pearl Harbor was on our must do list for Hawaii, and the Missouri is arguably one of the coolest things we did. The sheer scale of this ship is hard to fathom unless you're next to it. In some ways it makes a cruise ship look dainty. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable, and respectful of the ship as a place where men had died; he gave a good overview of the main spaces of the ship along with some very interesting historical stories. He was worth the price of admission alone, however being able to wander the ship at your leisure and get a better idea of day to day life is cooler in some respects. In particular seeing the pantry/food setup was interesting. Definitely a must do if you're hitting Pearl Harbor. read more

After we finished the Aviation Museum we got picked up and we were taken to the USS Missouri. Once our group was semi sort of together we we given to an English speaking tour guide Val, she was great by the way. She walked us through the main deck of the "Mighty Mo" given us a lot of information of the Battleship, and it is best remembered as the site of the surrender of the Empire of Japan which ended WWII on Sept 2nd 1945 in Tokyo Bay. While we walked along the way you can see a dent just below the main deck level of the Missouri. It turns out a low flying Kamikaze hit it and only made very minimal damage. The remains of the pilot were recovered on board, the crew wanted to get rid over the side. But Captain Callaghan decided the young pilot had done his job to the best of his abilities, and with honor, so he should be given a military funeral. The next day he was buried at sea. Val informed us since they had no Japanese flags around, the crewmembers managed to find a way to make one before burying him at sea. You see the footprints made of where it was done. After she concluded her part of the tour we were left to tour by ourselves, we were just told one thing " don't take pictures of (I can't remember which side of the ship lol) because that's still an active military base" So we climbed our short butts to the top deck to take some pictures lol of the side that we could. This is definitely worth a stop if you're in the area. read more

Touring this battleship that is a National Historic site is a wonderful experience and a fitting memorial to all those who served our nation. It is a huge ship, three football fields long, that you can go below and see how the crew ate, slept, lived and performed their duties on aboard. You will also see the Surrender Deck where the Japanese signed the documents of Surrender to end the war. I chose to take one of the free tours that are offered. Had an excellent guided tour with Robert. He was incredibly knowledgeable and although the tour was brief (about 40 minutes), it was quite thorough. He gave us a lot of great background information that was not printed on the signage accompanying some of the relics on the ship, and he even shared some of 'Mighty Mo's' post-Pearl Harbor history as well. Fantastic guide! I appreciated the brevity of the tour because it allowed guests the option to either explore the rest of the ship on their own, or head to the other museums and memorials in Pearl Harbor. In addition to the gift shop, there are also a few concession stands on-site selling snacks and cool drinks. Since purses and bags are not allowed at any of the memorials/museums, make sure you take a few bucks and a credit card or two with you. (Don't leave everything in bag check like I did). read more
