One of our favorite stops on our visit to Honolulu. Quite pricey but my husband said it was worth it. You get on a shuttle boat and are taken to a small submarine where you can watch the sub surface and be taken underwater to check out the ocean life created by the artificial reefs they built out of boats, a plane and those structures for harvesting seaweed. Pictures can't really do it justice cause of how dark it is but if you're in the area and can afford it, gotta do it at least once.

Great excursion! Really enjoyed the submarine cruise, even though I had done it a few times before. For those who have never tried it should give it a shot. The crew were super friendly and helpful in educating riders on the characteristics of the submarine and the underwater cruise path. During our cruise, the submarine was less than half full. Very concerned about tourists not coming to support the local economy. Hopefully, things will pickup as summer vacaction begins.

We really enjoyed the Atlantis submarine! Saw lots of fish around the sunken boats. As stated in previous reviews, the colors are a muted blue when taking pictures as shown in the attached pictures. Crew were very nice. Since I don't anticipate ever going scuba diving, this was the closest option to going deep. I imagine that if we were further out in the ocean then we would have seen more fish. Overall it was a good experience.

Super friendly & knowledgeable staff & awesome experience for family to see underwater life in a safe environment. We saw plenty of fish, 5 sea turtles, a barracuda, and an eagle ray. Everyone had a seat with great views and the tour was the perfect amount of time. They do sell a $55 photo package at the end of the tour but they were not pushy and were very polite when people declined to purchase photos. We opted to purchase them since they turned out great. We even get digital copies we can download so to me it's a better deal than school photos that are $$$.

So MUCH FUN! Greatest 25th Birthday Gift ever. This for me would be a go for the experience at least because it was great to learn about Hawaiis ocean and how Hawaii has an impact on it. The guide is great and funny as well. If you do good go during the afternoon. Although the animals are out in the morning.

A great and easy experience that will satisfy your inner Jules Verne This trip was a perfect mini excursion. A short, scenic boat ride takes you out to the submarine. The sub itself was very roomy. We were told that it's the world's larger passenger sub: with windows all round and a roomy interior, it almost seemed like a Disney ride. The staff were all knowledgeable and friendly. We saw wonderful man-made wrecks and underwater structures that hosted a variety of life. And the whole experience felt like quite the adventure. Only negative: They do try to upsell an overpriced photo at the end of the- which soured it a bit. $54 for an impromptu posed photo is a bit much. They'd probably sell more if they dropped the price to something reasonable. Other than that it was a great experience. I especially loved how eco-minded the outfit was. The sub is battery and air powered. The wrecks are prepped and placed to remove harmful materials and protect the reef life. If you're not ready to scuba or want a fun underwater experience - I highly recommend this adventure. The whole experience took about 1.5 hours.

Ohh whee, we got down to 107 feet!

Fun and educational! This is a pretty rare experience. We went down 107 feet. If you do not like small enclosed spaces, this is NOT for you. We (family of 4) did the 11 am Thursday tour. The ferry ride was a little rough, but the submarine ride is very smooth. On the ferry you get the best views of Diamond Head and Waikiki Beach. You can see fish, turtles and sharks, but its not like snorkeling. The colors are not bright a beautiful. All your pictures will come out blue. Be sure to book a head of time if you want to do this activity during a touristy time.

It's an interesting experience to try once especially since this is the largest public carrier submarine. It'll take you down to 100 feet deep across some artificial and natural coral reefs. There will be a decent amount of fish and we even saw a small shark briefly. The reason I rated as three stars is because the submarine itself got a bit repetitive and boring and there wasn't as much fish as expected. Also visibility is quite low down there even during a nice sunny day. The boat ride was nice but it was very shaky and nauseating. Overall just an OK experience especially considering the cost but could be good to try for the first time.

Aft section sub. The largest commercial sun you can ride outside of the US Navy.

Ever wanted to take a real submarine ride, without joining the Navy? Recommend: Absolutely. Amazing overall experience TBH. The entire process from in-processing, crew courtesy, camaraderie, comfortability, was just spot on. Water clarity is something they can't control but the captain speaks you through everything, literally every step of the way. The encouragement to explore the waterworks of Hawaii was a joyous experience. I'll be adding some video after this posting so check back for that. Feeling sick, 'puke bags' right above your head and entirely on the ready! Pricey; a smidgen, but this isn't a Disney world ride, it's the real deal.

Had a great experience with Atlantis Adventures Submarines! I was looking up things to do with a few free hours in the am and stumbled upon this roughly 2 hour excursion - which was perfect for me. I booked online and it was hassle free. Check in is at a a little booth on the beach at the Hilton near the pier. The guys at check in told me to watch for turtles as they frequently swim near the pier and sure enough - I saw two. When you get to the pier they offer to take your picture but I declined since I was solo on this adventure. You take a roughly 20 min ride to the submarine and we managed to see a couple mama humpbacks and their calves. We also saw a pod of about 150 dolphins and had great views of Diamond Head. It's kinda cool getting to see all those things on top of the sub tour! (And I didn't have to pay for a separate whale watching excursion!) The climb down into the sub is very steep (as others have mentioned). If you have mobility issues this may not be the best option. Our sub was only about 1/3 full so we had space to spread out. The guide was knowledgeable and funny. She was constantly on the lookout for different species under the water and pointing them out and giving fun facts. The water was clear and visibility was high. Among many varieties of fish we also saw an eel, sting ray, a turtle eating algae on one of the structures and a white tip shark. It's pricey - at $149 after tax per adult, so just an FYI. It's one of those fun things to do once.

One of the more unique experiences to do in Honolulu, Atlantis Submarines definitely was one of my favorite activities. If you know how to swim, I suggest you experience the sea life yourself by snorkeling, but if you're like me who's with elderly folks, then this is a good alternative. We start off by riding a boat to the submarines off the coast. The boat ride was beautiful! You will have a nice view of the Waikiki coast and Diamond Head and breathe that cool, refreshing Pacific breeze. You will then transfer to the submarines with the help of the crew. While submerging into the bottom of the ocean, you may feel a little seasick, but once at the bottom, you won't really feel anything anymore. The tour was enjoyable and educational. You will see an abundance of fish, sometimes even a shark, but don't expect a very lively coral life. There's a shipwreck and other monuments there and I believe that marine biologists are currently studying the lives of coral life, which makes up most of the tour. This is a very family-friendly adventure and I'm sure you'd appreciate your experience there.

How much passengers on submarine & is there social distancing?

After July 8 restrictions were eased so there probably will be less social distancing if any. Rules regarding COVID in Hawaii changed after July 8 and we went before that date so my experience is no longer valid.

Is there restroom access on the submarine?

Aloha! Unfortunately, there is not a bathroom on the submarine. However, there is a bathroom on the shuttle boat to the submarine. Also, the total amount of time you would be underwater is 45 minutes. We hope this helps! Mahalo!

I'm 6months pregnant. Can I still ride on the submarine?

I'd call and ask but I can't see any reason why you couldn't. There are ladders to get in and out of the sun so as long as you can do those you'd be fine. It's very tame and a soothing experience. Highly recommended.

What's the difference between the premium tickets and the standard?

They did provide proper and plenty storage spaces for your footwear on the boat (appreciated!). I'm the girl who wants to go snorkeling even though she gets sea sickness and can't really swim…read morebecause I love animals and I want to experience snorkeling with turtles and fish at least once in my life. We did the turtle tour on 5/13 at 8:30 in the morning. They teach everyone how to use the given gear, they antifog the goggles beforehand and sanitize all the gear well afterwards. They have snacks, water, and ginger ale. We saw two turtles within a couple arms lengths at the surface (you can't touch them but gosh they were so close!). We also saw about seven turtles chilling on the bottom. Tons of reef fish swimming so close to us too. The crew makes sure to point out turtles so you don't miss them. It was my first time in open water and the crew was welcoming from the start. They separate the groups so if you can't swim or are not great at swimming, you can stay back and hold onto a blue mat in the water where they teach you and help you feel comfortable in open water first. Even though I vomited afterwards (yes I took plenty of motion sickness medication ahead of time!), I highly recommend the experience. It's unlike anything else. The crew is so funny, they normalized not being able to swim well or motion sickness so you don't feel embarrassed. They get in the water with you (not all crews do!) and were super attentive, and encouraging. I felt safe enough that I was able to learn, get confident in the water and join the others and I still felt like I had plenty of great snorkeling time. Overall, GREAT company for actually seeing turtles! GREAT for inexperienced swimmers and people who get motion/sea sickness! If you're determined, you can still do it. The crew made me feel safe the entire time! You've got this, you only live once!

I didn't even get off the boat and my son already asked me "can we come back to this same boat again next time!" From the gate B, which is your entrance, make sure you read your additional info after your confirmation email, especially if you are taking a Uber or Lyft, or else you can get dropped off at the main area and have to walk and find gate B! It's a long walk if you do not specify, our u er drive was the one that asked me, what gate sir, or else you have a long walk. Thank god he asked us! So from the gate to the entire experience, it can be overwhelming, it's a lot to do, it's a ton of fun. I rated 4/5 for the snorkeling because it's open ocean vs doing this inside a "bay" You first get a cruise down the waters and learn about the city and the captain t Story tells you a lot of history and the buildings while we are cruising and then we turn around to the play and snorkeling areas! Wow! But knowing my kids they want to also PLAY! Thais is the boat, you have a water trampoline, a water floating board that you legit can lay on or stand on and play balance and or just lay, and a huge slide!!!!! Wow! And drink and snacks are included! We didn't even get a chance to grab a beer! lol (for additional $ on your own) Just look at the view and the photos. So this entire experience is just 5/5 We booked through TripAdvisor. This is 100% recommend, since this is also at open ocean, it's easier if you can swim and not afraid of the waters. They do offer life jackets and self blown floatation vests, your choice. Must do!!!!! See you next time!

If you're an energetic couple looking for more than just a relaxing beach day, Island Splash Turtle…read moreTours delivers an experience that's equal parts thrilling, educational, and impeccably organized. From the moment we arrived, their team demonstrated a level of professionalism that immediately stood out. The check-in process was seamless, the safety briefing was clear and thorough, and the equipment was in excellent condition. You could tell they run a tight operation -- everything felt structured, efficient, and well thought out without ever feeling rushed. What truly elevated the experience was how intellectual the tour felt. The guides weren't just there to point out turtles; they shared fascinating insights about marine ecosystems, turtle behavior, conservation efforts, and local oceanography. Their knowledge added so much depth to the adventure. It felt like a marine biology mini-masterclass -- but one where you're actively swimming through the lesson. And speaking of active -- this is not a passive, float-around experience (which we loved). As a very active couple, we appreciated the energy and pace. There was plenty of swimming, exploring, and maneuvering through the water, and the guides kept the vibe upbeat and engaging the entire time. They matched our enthusiasm and made sure we got the most out of every moment in the water. The atmosphere was fun, vibrant, and full of positive energy. The team clearly loves what they do, and that enthusiasm is contagious. We left feeling exhilarated, accomplished, and genuinely grateful for such a well-run adventure--we left having seen many turtles, Hawaiian spinner dolphins, a stingray and plenty of fish in a natural setting. If you're the kind of couple that prefers movement over lounging, learning over just observing, and meaningful experiences over generic tours -- Island Splash Turtle Tours is absolutely worth it. Professional. Knowledgeable. Energetic. And incredibly fun. We would book again in a heartbeat.

Once we got out on the water, the experience was unforgettable. We swam with colorful fish and sea turtles, saw dolphins, and even got to see false killer whales. It was truly a great day out at sea. The crew was exceptional: Capt. Dani, Ben, Faavae, Kania, Roxanne, Kirra, Bernard, and Keely all made the trip special. Keely deserves a special shout-out! The crew provided educational facts, acted as lifeguards, served food and drinks, and even danced, making the whole experience fun, safe, and memorable. I highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for an incredible ocean adventure in Hawai'i. Great service, beautiful wildlife, and an outstanding crew!

This tour is very misleading online snd I want to make sure ppl know what they are signing up for…read more The staff was wonderful and very organized. But despite being called a "Dolphin and You" tour, there is only dolphin WATCHING from the boat -- no swimming with dolphins. They also only stop at one snorkel spot in shallow waters.m whereas most companies have you snorkel at 2. Maybe if I had never been on another tour, I would have thought this was good, but I'd only recommend this for people who want to mainly watch things from the boat and not snorkel. I honestly saw more marine life where I live in OC. On a previous tour with a different company, I swam in waters where dolphins were swimming all around and underneath me -- it was a core memory, and I was hoping to recreate that experience. They also don't let you swim very far from the boat, which made the experience feel overly restrictive. Because the website is not clear I will lay down the iternary: 6:00am pick-up from hotel (about 1.5 hrs to get there) Restroom stop at Fareharbor 1 hr dolphin watching--basically your just on a boat 1 hr snorkel--will see sparse fish 1 hr return--will give you sandwich and water cups no water bottles, temporary tattoo offered Return to hotel: another 1.5 hrs to drop everyone off etc Kind of waste of money $180+ and my precious vacation time. Also, be wary of the reviews. They offer incentives for leaving one. Sorry, but as a Yelp Elite, my honest opinion can't be bought.

Semi-Private Snorkel Tour --7:15 AM Departure…read more If you're debating whether the early departure is worth it-- it absolutely is. Being the first boat out in the morning makes a huge difference. The ocean was calm, conditions were excellent, and we weren't surrounded by multiple tour boats. For long stretches it genuinely felt like we had the reef to ourselves. Sam and Ella were in-cred-ible. Professional, knowledgeable, and very clearly people who love what they do. They struck the perfect balance of being attentive while still letting everyone enjoy the experience naturally. We felt extremely safe the entire time, and they were just genuinely joyful humans to spend the morning with. And I have to mention the turtles. We saw at least eight. Not just in the distance-- they were everywhere. Below us in the reef, gliding past us at the surface, popping up for air unexpectedly. At one point we were actively looking around just to make sure we weren't about to bump into one. Also...calling them "little" would be inaccurate. Some of these turtles were big-- absolutely stunning animals. Swimming alongside them, surrounded by hundreds of reef fish, was one of those rare travel moments that sticks with you. A core memory, without question. -- San Diego
