Dimitri & Nick were great to work with ! We shipped our own 40' container from Hawaii to California, and these guys made it a whole lot easier. The process for a shipper owned container is completely different than if you use the carrier's containers. They took care of all the dealings with the carrier and got the container booked and shipped for us. I was recently recommended ETC by a friend and have to say, I was a little hesitant at first reading the negative reviews. My friend however, was adamant about their reliability, so I contacted the company to inquire about their services and obtain a quote. I was contacted directly by the owner, Dimitri, who talked me through everything and answered each of my questions over the subsequent weeks. I was won over by their customer service, not only from the owner himself, but also from the other employees I interacted with (Nick and Lee). I took a leap of faith and was incredibly satisfied with my choice. The entire process was smooth and streamlined and the excellent customer service continues to this day. I felt obligated to share my experience with ETC because I understand how a few bad reviews can reflect poorly on a business. From years of experience in the logistics industry, I understand that sometimes there are additional costs incurred at customs that are completely unavoidable and independent of the importer. Here goes my first review, Just finished my second shipment with ETC and felt they deserved credit where credit is due. I purposely waited until the second shipment was completed before writing this, to allow me to write a accurate and informative review. Both shipments were on schedule and went exactly as they said it would. WITHOUT A HITCH. Coming into this, I had zero experience with International shipping, but Dimitri and Nick were so patient and spent a lot of time answering any and all questions I had. Some were much more relevant than others, but they took the time to answer them all anyway. Initially, I was uncomfortable bringing a product in the US from China to sell on Amazon, but after speaking with them I felt confident enough to proceed with my first order. They have a branch in China that was able to make direct contact with my supplier in order to bridge the language gap and allowed them to provide me with updates before my supplier even could. Needless to say, it got to Amazon (which they are very knowledgeable and seem to specialize in) efficiently. Dear International mover. Pay attention to my review if you are considering using this company for your move. I am not gaining anything from this review other than trying to help other people avoid lots of headache. I have moved to Europe back and forth several times and never had such horrible experience. First they sent their estimator over and gave me misleading estimation, that the work will take approximately 4 to 5 hours and would cost $200 an hour for 4 people as long as we pack all our boxes, and they would only rap big items.The job was supposed to start 7am and done approximately 12 pm, so I asked them to have the container schedule around 10am because first two hours was free. These guys show up 7:40 instead of 7am. They were 5 people instead of 4, so that way they jack up the price to $250 an hour without our consent. One of the guy was son of the supervisor who was minor (15 years old), which is against the law. In middle of work the supervisor left for over two hours and left us with inexperienced staff, who had no clue how to rap or maybe was intentional. Every time we saw them sitting around and wasting time we asked them to rap bigger items while they are waiting and their answer was we don't know how. They took their time to almost 12 hours instead of 4-5 hours. The container was standing there fram 10 to almost 7 PM. Beside of first free two hours, it costed me $700 for just standing there. Finally the container left to port of Long Beach. I called the company and talk to them and at first they were very understanding and unhappy with their staff, but with my surprise it was just a show and they are in it together. they know what they were doing. Next day I receive a bill for almost $3500 and that was only this part and in Europe I had to pay addition $700 plus $8500 to another company for shipping. $8500 dollars was completely fear, because I have done this before and this is what is cost to ship, but having company come to rap your items and cost you $4200 is ridicules and unfair charging. I spoke to several people there at the ETC company included the owner and no result. As matter of fact when I told them that you sent one more staff without our consent they started to threatening me that some of your items were new and you might have problem there. I had only my household items and nothing to worry about so I told them there is nothing to worry about. They started to Threatening us to hold our Container if you don't pay the bills. So basically they hold our items hostage to force us paying them. We were so worry about our items, 20 years of memories and our children belongings that in end I kept my mouth shut and paid them to get our belonging. Now we have our staff and with such bad experience, I decided to warn others and let them know to do your diligence and don't fall in to trap of their friendliness sound. I am 66 years old and moved from the Dominican Republic to Tampa Florida. Samantha Puefua, a customer service rep, walked me through each step including a payment plan that was affordable and worked with my time schedule. All my questions were answered promptly, either by phone or by email. It is very stressful moving from a foreign country, and at times I felt I might be a burden asking so many questions. This is my first review and actually ETC is the reason I decided to create a Yelp account. They went above and beyond helping me get my shipment from point A to point B. The company that I work for was sending some computer products (monitors, keyboards, USB Cords all that good stuff) to one of our clients in Greece and it was a fairly big job. (7 standard size pallets) I was assigned the task of finding a company to get everything over there for us. So I began calling around, and after talking to roughly 5 different companies, I came across ETC International Freight Systems. I went on their website and it was very easy to navigate.
