This is a local firm stand. It is very sophisticated for a farm stand, but it still has a real homie feel of being directly associated with the farm that it represents. Their products are really quite exceptional and the people that represent them in their stores are very helpful. Our family has been going here for years and during a time my father-in-law was ill. They would allow me to call the order in and go down and get it so that I didn't have to be away from the house that long. It was very helpful for our situation. Fall festival I saw an advertisement for their fall festival. It was a great option for our family to go apple picking and have other fun activities to entertain the kids. On arrival parking was a bit tricky. They had street parking or the attendant directed us down the road to park at a school. They give you bags to pick your apples and then you pay when finished. They had several apple varieties available for picking that weekend so it was great to have so many options. They also had a straw maze, pumpkin painting, food trucks, music and a playground. The food trucks were good and the apple cider donuts where delicious being so fresh. They also have a market with apples already picked and other food items. read more

We went during their fall festival and it was ridiculously packed. I specifically picked Bauman because their website said they had Honeycrisp apples, but when we got there, they only had pre-picked Honeycrisp. There were long lines for everything and the place was swarming with bees. I'm sure it's much better during the week when not as many people are there. We probably won't go back just because it wasn't really worth the hassle, and without Honeycrisp it wasn't anything special that I can't find closer to home. read more

Fall to me means cider and donuts. While I'm still on my quest to find a perfect Fall donut, my quest for the perfect cider ended this past week. As a self-proclaimed Cider aficionado, I've traveled the state looking for the perfect cider for many many years and this past week I found it. It's produced by Bauman Orchards in Rittman, Ohio. As most cider snobs know, store bought ciders are usually a pasteurized version where they boil the brew. In doing so some loose most of the taste. What struck us most was the fact that Bauman's cider is sweet and you can actually taste apple in every sip. Its so sweet and flavorful I called them to see if they added sugar. Not only do they not add any sweeteners, their pasteurization process is by an ultrasonic process, not boiling it so you get the full taste of the apples. Normally I wouldn't carry on so much about cider, but folks if you love good flavorful cider, this is the one you must try. In Columbus you can get it at Weilands Market, Luckys Market, and Mosers fruit market. I won't bad mouth any of the orchards around Columbus, they all do an admiral job, but being a cider snob, this stuff checks all the boxes. . read more

After a visit to Bauman Orchards in October of this year, my wife and I decided to have some apples shipped to our house. The cost to ship the apples was doubled the cost of the apples, but we thought getting a better product would be worth it. We were wrong! The apples arrived in about 3 days (Texas) which was good. However, half of the apples were either bruised or soft. They looked worse than what we get in our local grocery store. The Honey Crisp apples weren't near as sweet and we found our store bought apples were sweeter. We had every intention to order more apples later in the year, but what's the point. The cost for subpar apples isn't worth it. read more

Let me start by saying, yes during their Fall Festival it is business and crowded. That's why you go there knowing that the kids will have fun and don't go if you're in a hurry. Now let's talk about the real reason to go to Bauman Orchard. The cider is the best anywhere. I usually have to buy 2 or more gallons if I want any. The rest of the family drink it so fast. The price on cheese and other items are awesome compared to the local stores in the area. Like I said, the Fall Festival is a fun time to take the kids, pick apples, get some fresh doughnuts, maple flavored cotton candy (so good), kettle corn and multiple gallons of cider. Other less busy times are great throughout the year for bagged apples, baked goods and other store items. We love this place and recommend it to all. You really can't beat the taste of the cider. I dont even know where to start with this place. Lets do good news bad news. The good news is the cider is sold everywhere and the quality is considered tops in the area. Their baked goods and their variety of products is tremendous. There are wagon rides for the kids and family and they have a vendor that makes fresh donuts. The bad news. The front of the building was constructed about 18 feet from the the very busy Ritman road. This causes all kinds of problems. All the merchandise is presented out front including the baked donuts so the line literally goes out into the busy street and I mean literally. We almost got hit by several cars. The line moves terribly slowly too. We ended up leaving after 20 minutes in line cause then we would have to wait in a second line to get cider or apples. Next, The wagon rides pull out into heavy traffic with loads of kids onboard. I cannot begin to tell you how dangerous this is. The reason the traffic is so heavy is because there is no parking at all. You have to park on the street. This too is hazardous because you have to dodge cars to get across and there is no shoulder on Ritman. The band plays in front of the building adding to the problems. There are hot dog vendors out in front too. Summary: This could be the best orchard in town with some careful planning and redesign of the physical layout and where items are bought. Perhaps they could move all the vending to back or side of the building to keep the public out of the street. My recommendation for right now, is go to another place to get apples and cider until the physical planning issues are addressed. read more

I used to go to an apple orchard with family in Green and 5 years ago, they ended their "Pick Your Own" since the many storms we had that year destroyed most of the apple trees there. After I moved to Rittman, I bought some apple cider from the local grocery store to hear that it came from Bauman's Orchards here in town and it was delicious! I kept saying to go up to the orchard but never had the time. This year, I went up to Bauman's Orchards to get some cinnamon sticks and to look for any baking apples for my grandmother and even though the apples were not harvested until the end of the month, I still got the cinnamon sticks, some delicious apple butter and chow-chow, and a small bag of kettle corn. I also found out that they have a "Pick Your Own" apples there (though it is only for a short time) so I may have to bring my family out to start picking more apples. I was also at Dussel's Farms in Kent for my family's annual trip to the pumpkin patch the other day and we bought a gallon of apple cider and I saw a familiar "mascot" on the label and upon closer inspection, I realized where it came from: Bauman's Orchards. I recommend Bauman's as your choice if you would like some delicious apples, cider, and more! read more
