Szalay's is a decent farmer's market. There is lots of fresh vegetables, corn and other staples at pretty reasonable prices. I believe the corn was $4.80 for 6 ears (or around that price). I got some fresh sourdough bread for $6.99. Great price as a lot of sourdough goes for around $12 some places. They have an outdoor area where you can buy food. It's just hot dogs, turkey burgers, salmon burgers (maybe hamburgers - not sure) plus roasted corn for $2.50 an ear. There was music on the patio. It was very busy and note they only take cash. They do have an ATM on site. I would stop in again if in the area. read more

Szaley's is the busiest farm stand I've ever seen. With the amazing pumpkin selection (so many shapes and colors!), the towering corn maze with eight scenes to find as you go, the outdoor music, food and seating (very crowded in the front, much quieter in the back), this is such a great fall destination. There's great produce, breads and other treats to buy too. Prices are good, but bring cash to avoid the ATM line, and expect a crowd on sunny weekend days. read more

I picked out six ears of corn and put it in my basket. I shopped for a few other items and then went to the check out. I placed my items on the counter including the corn. The gentleman at the check out told me that the next time I shop there , I need to use a corn bag. The area where I picked out my corn was very crowded and I did not notice any corn bags. He wasn't very nice about it and it has discouraged me returning. Because he also charged me twice for my watermelon. I didn't notice it until I got home. It's too crowded to go back for a refund. Parking is hit and miss. Definitely overcrowded on weekends but if you're going on weekdays everything improves as it's not impossible to move around. Cute spot! Heard great things about this market. Parking is across the street by a corn field. Walking across the street, you enter the market. There are swinging tables/benches which are super fun to stay in the shade and enjoy the snacks. Inside the market, you see a lot of produce. I wonder about seasonality since some seemed out of season, but everything looked great. Of course, there are a lot of sweet corn outside in a big container for you to pick. I always like to stop here. Its in the wonderful Cuyahoga Valley National Park area which has allot to offer including beautiful scenery, hiking, biking, Kayaking and more. And you can stop by Szalays during your visit. They have allot of fruit, vegetables and other food available including some homemade items. Food stands are open at times and you can sit out and eat. The atmosphere at times is festive. Unfortunately I generally do not receive friendly service. I also had an awkward experience where the price of the produce was way over the mass times the cost per pound and the person didn't know what to do. I said I cant pay the price since the cost was much higher than stated on the sign. Weird. I unfortunately have not had positive experiences shopping here and thus the rating. Discovered this place while riding on the Towpath. *Bring cash. All of the food stands and farmers market are cash only, but they do have an ATM. *Grab some food before you shop at the stands. Partner said the hot dog was one of the best hot dogs he has ever eaten. I got the salmon burger, but I recommend you pass on that one. The star was the grilled corn with butter. So juicy and delicious. The lemonade was fresh squeezed and refreshing. We finished off with some chocolate and vanilla twist soft serve ice cream on a cone. Perfect serving size. Szalay's is a Midwest dream! This sweet corn farm has a market and weekend food stands that offer soft serve ice cream, corn, hot dogs, drinks, and more. In the fall they also have a corn maze and a million pumpkins. It's quite a drive to get here for me but it's perfect for when my friends and I are in the mood for hot dogs, roasted corn, or just some wholesome vibes. Only complaint about Szalay's is that their only burger options are turkey and salmon burgers and in my ideal world I would be able to get a deli dog + regular hamburger along with my corn. Also, I have had both the Polish Boy and the regular deli dog and I would suggest getting the deli dog - the Polish Boy isn't as filling or remarkable as the deli dog in my opinion. This is a must stop place if you are visiting Cuyahoga Valley National Park! They have a little bit of every kind of produce here, plus honey and maple syrup. I wasn't a huge fan of the maple syrup after returning home and using it on waffles, but the bread was out of this world! Make sure to try the jalapeño and cheese sourdough bread. If you want a nice experience... this is a great one... the market is full of beautiful fruit and vegetables including their (best I ever ate) sweet corn. The outdoor seating included these really cool rocking-roller tables for an old-world feel. On weekends they often have a groovy 2 piece singing duet, oldies and Sinatra stuff which is fun. I'm not exaggerating when I say I'd go twice the distance for this corn. I'm sure there's sweet corn sold somewhere between but why take a chance with others when you already found the best? I read plenty reviews and everyone of them were positive and everyone of them are truthful. You seriously will not be disappointed. Go see for yourself. They have "EVERYTHING" imaginable. Best corn I've had in a while. Had the roasted corn for $2.50, it was truly delicious. Perfectly cooked, slightly charred, sweet and juicy. I went to Szalay's this weekend with a couple friends for the corn maze. The corn maze itself was great! It was around 3 acres big, well kept, and they had a scavenger hunt to find various wooden pumpkins. They also handed out maps to make sure you didn't get lost. I felt safe as most people in the maze were wearing masks and complying with social distancing measures. However, I would stay away from the farmers market/dining area. It was really crowded and not many people were wearing masks in lines for food. The food looked great from a distance but I did not want to put myself at risk. I think there were lines on the ground that were meant to for distancing but none of the rules were being enforced. If it weren't for the social distancing issues, this is really a perfect fall fun activity! read more

Big farm market and apparently popular but I'm not a fan. Extremely extremely overpriced with apples at three dollars a pound and $17 pumpkins. See pictures. A local grocery store had the same apples for $.60 less per pound. It was a 38 minute trip one way for me to arrive here for a first visit only to find out that they only except cash and you cannot use a credit or debit card. This is absolutely ridiculous and I do not do business with businesses who do not use modern forms of payment in an effort to pad their own pockets and minimize business costs at the expense of the customer. They do however have an ATM machine so that you can be inconvenienced and have to pay additional fees to get cash to pay for already over priced to produce and goods. I highly recommend checking out your local grocery store for better buys read more

Szalay's. Not trying to be corny here, but this place is amaizeing. When I was but a young lad, my parents would drag me here to get corn. And whenever we got there, I was delighted. Well, lend me your ears, and I will tell you that Szalay's is even better now. Would corn by any other name still be so sweet? Unlikely. The corn here is so sweet that you barely need to cook it, and butter is entirely unnecessary. There is more than a kernel of truth in the statement Szalay's is the best. On weekends in the summer it's even more fun, as they have bands and stands selling roasted corn and other snacks. Corn-gratulations for still being so great all these years later! read more

While this establishment might produce the best sweet corn and other fruits and vegetables. For it being right off a major walking path, they sure are rude when it comes to dogs in the picnic area. If your dog barks or makes sound because of excitement, you are going to get asked to move your dog away from the other dog because "you just can't have your dogs do that here". We all ready are in the picnic area standing in the rain so we are away and respectful to the produce and customers. It's one thing if we were in the store. I'm not sure what this employee thinks dogs might do in a resting area off of a major walking and biking path. It's not like the dogs were being aggressive in any shape or form. In fact children were coming up to meet these two happy puppies. If you are going to allow dogs, it's pretty tough to ban barking. read more
