I'm in my "butcher meat only era" I'm tired of grocery stores playing with my food and packaging ground chuck that never produces fat when you cook it. I came to Baumann's and they had the perfect ground beef for grilling burgers. They ground their meat daily from the best cuts of beef and they bake their hamburger buns daily. When I cooked the burgers the meat was juicy. We like our burgers medium well. We even overcooked a few and they were still juicy. I will definitely be back

Great meat counter and the entire staff is so friendly and personable. I mentioned that I discovered them through numerous Yelp friends and they thought that was so cool. We bought a couple of Rib Eyes, that grilled up so nicely. They were tender and juicy. They informed us as we chatted, that Monday is usually not a good day to shop. Their inventory is low after a busy weekend and deliveries begin to arrive on Tuesday. Brad asked about certain cuts of meat and they informed him that they'd be happy to special order them for us. That is going the extra step in customer service. I'm not a fan of beef jerky, but the SO is so we gave it try on the recommendation of Chris Z.. I am here to tell you now, I like beef jerky. Theirs is the best jerky I have had, and will set the standard for any other jerky I try in the future. They offer some grocery items and many were hometown products. It was good to see an independent meat counter supporting other hometown vendors. Team work, breeds success for our city. I will be back this coming Tuesday, and many more to follow.

I had made plans to visit St. Louis and stayed an extra day to visit friends and cook them a big pot roast dinner. If you want meat done right, you need to go to a place that knows and respects their product, and that's definitely Baumann's. They quickly sliced up two perfect 3lb roasts for me that fit perfectly in the Dutch oven. 4 hours of simmering later and I had some perfectly tender and flavorful roasts. I'd certainly head back to Baumann's for a fine cut of meat in the future!

    Yes it is.

As others have…read morementioned, they do over salt their prepared food fairly often but that's just the chef's palate. Everything's high-quality and poor value after accounting for the price. I stopped in to pick up a pork loin because I was around the corner, looking for ~3-4lbs of meat. They only had a 1 1/2 pound in the case (order taker weighed it to confirm before going to the back, which should've been my first warning) so I asked if they had any larger ones. They were nice enough to check and offer to cut one. That's where things went downhill. After waiting 5 or 10 minutes, my order taker came back out to ask how I wanted it prepped (bone or boneless, skin on or off). I said skin off and ambivalent on the bones. This was my mistake, leaving my fate to the hands of someone profit motivated. I walked out with just about a 3 pound bone in roast, which is maybe half a pound more meat than the one and a half pound I turned down - not enough for my guests and I. Had I gotten a roast closer to 4lbs, I would've been unhappy with the price but not enough to write a review. Additionally, they only charged a dollar less for bone in. At $15/lb, I effectively paid the price of their beef for the meat after accounting for the bone. I felt tricked. In hindsight, I should've just turned it down when I saw the price, but I was a bit too shocked to say anything. So I paid my bill and swore that I wouldn't be coming back for anything but (maybe) sausage or a snack again.

Every time I am in Kenricks I feel like a part of the family. They go above and beyond for their customers daily. My eyes immediately did a quick scan trying to figure out where everything was that I saw in the video. Big cookie? Check (register); the chips? (Made in house and directly behind me on the shelf). The jackpot was the sandwiches which were located in the deli to the left of the register. I made my way back there and was surprised that not only did they have a hot bar, but they also had tons of deli meat, different cuts of meat, breads and vegetables! I took a quick scan of the menu and knew I wanted the Truffles Caprese but on foccacia instead of the bread it came with. I noticed the hot bar had shrimp and some chicken balls which I found out were chicken spiedini! While ordering my sandwich, I inquired about the spiedini and they let me try some. The spiedini was equally good, if not better than what they serve at Charlie Gitto's. It was packed full of flavor, had a nice char on the outside and seasoned to perfection, just how I like it. I ended up sticking with the sandwich and decided to browse the store while my sandwich was being made. I love how they have everything you need and at relatively good prices. I was surprised at how much alcohol they had- it seemed like they had more of that than the groceries! It wasn't long until my sandwich was ready and I decided to grab a chocolate chip cookie because you know I couldn't leave without getting something sweet. My first bite of my sandwich surpassed my expectations as the balsamic was so fresh as were the tomatoes and the burrata paired well with the rest of the ingredients. After a few bites, I felt the cookie calling my name. It was perfect in every way- soft, the right amount of chocolate chips, and the sea salt sealed the deal as far as the taste goes. My first visit to the Truffles Butchery Market was a success and I'm already trying to figure out when I can return!
