Bolyard's is a cute little butcher shop located in the heart of Maplewood. I ordered online and picked up to-go once I got there. The Tom Tom sandwich was just okay, nothing spectacular. I probably wouldn't order it again, but if you're thinking about trying it I'd recommend adding bacon to make it less bland. But the beef tallow fries were 11/10!!! At first I thought no way are these $8 fries going to be that good but they really were spectacular. The house made ketchup with them too made it really unique!‍ I also ordered some breakfast sausage to make with biscuits and gravy at home since the meats case was filed with a great selection. A plus is they also have a parking lot with dedicated spots too if you wanted to dine-in.

I have heard all kinds of wonderful things about this place on Facebook. We decided to give it a try. I ordered the PULLED BEEF NACHOS for $14.00 corn tortilla chips - pulled beef - cheese sauce -candied jalapeno - tomatoes - crème fraiche. These were good, but I would probably opt to try one of the sandwiches if I were to come back again. They have a few tables and seating at a bar height area inside and then they have a few tables outside. You order up at the counter and they bring you your food.

Very tasty food all around. The dip was delish, though light on meat considering the price. That said you can tell all the ingredients are very high quality so I recognize that comes at a cost. Bread on the sandwich was so fresh and soft with a nice toasted crisp for soaking up the jus. Salad was fresh and dressing was tasty. No frills service - order at the counter and they bring it to the table but all we interacted with were very pleasant. Ambiance is quiet with some tables and window seating.

Found this little gem while on a trek for a cool lunch place in Maplewood. Wide open and airy vibe. Order at the counter and obtain a number type of joint. Perfect set up for lunch . The story is all meat is sourced from a farm in Troy, Mo. Grass fed beef and zero hormones, plus less pharmaceuticals in general. Love that!!! Farm to table...smash burgers, Rueben's, beef tallow fries, pork rinds and more...extremely fresh, organic and full of awesomeness. Need to make another visit and try the French dip...looked delicious. Also of note, it's a true butcher as well and had on display, bacon, steak, pork chops, chorizo, other fantastic culinary meat finds...so that appears an additional opportunity worth trying. I know we will be back, as early as next week and encourage anyone who reads this to do the same!!

I found out about Bolyard's a few months ago and have been a huge fan of their butcher shop ever since! They carry Buttonwood farms chicken, which is one of my favorite local farms in the area for chicken and eggs! The service is friendly and helpful. The ambiance is cool since they also have a lunch menu so they have a nice seating area. I also love that they make their own stock - I have purchased and used the chicken and beef stock (both were great!). They also carry pork stock but I haven't tried it yet, I'm sure it's great too! Overall, a great spot for fresh and local meats all year round!

Anyone who knows me has heard me rave about Bolyard's. I set a goal to try 25 new-to-me STL restaurants in 2025 and ended up hitting 26. Out of all of the restaurants I visited, Bolyard still stands out as one of my absolute favorites. When my family and I went, we each ordered different entrées and shared the sides. I had the French dip and truly can't rave about it enough, but the real showstoppers were the sides. The cauliflower, potato salad, and fries were all incredible, I honestly couldn't pick a favorite. I also love that they have an Excel soda fountain and appreciate the overall ambience, even if it means waiting a few extra minutes for a seat on a busy day. Overall, it's such a great experience with amazing food, friendly staff, and top-tier meat options at the butcher counter.

Came here strictly for their bone broth but came away with some of the mortadella slices. Shared them with my new friends at the local brewery down the street. Bought some seasonings here too ! Bone broth mixture was delicious.

The provisions case so many great in-house made or local farm sources!

Was back over there today and it was so good had to come tell you do not sleep on the broth! That cup was so warm and comforting!

If you're looking for an elevated take on classic comfort food, Bolyards Meat & Provisions is an absolute must-visit. From the moment you walk in, the warm, welcoming vibe makes you feel right at home. Every bite showcases incredible attention to quality--whether it's their perfectly smoked meats, juicy burgers, or decadent sides. Service was friendly and attentive, making the experience feel personal and unhurried. Portions are generous, so you leave completely satisfied but still dreaming about your next visit. Pair your meal with a cider or one of their fountain drinks, and it becomes an event rather than just dinner. Honestly, Bolyards balances casual comfort with chef-level execution--10/10 would recommend to anyone who loves bold, hearty flavors.

    Cubano sandwich

I heard people saying good things about Bolyard's, so we gave it a try. Cuban sandwiches are one of my favorites so I had to order that. Sandwiches come with their house made pork rinds, but I'm not a fan of pork rinds , so we asked if we could swap them for something else. We were told that we could get any of the sides instead. I heard people raving about their fries, so we ordered them. I expected an up-charge, but it turns out that we were charged the full price ($7.25) and simply didn't get the pork rinds at all. I was disappointed with the Cubano. It didn't have a lot of flavor. I couldn't really taste the pickles or mustard, and there was a lot less meat than I expected from a meat market and the meat flavor was overwhelmed. The fries were good, but the size was deceiving. They came in a large pitcher (see picture), but when you poured them out, it was less than half that size (the fries were suspended on a napkin). I may come back and try a burger. I want to give them a fair chance.

The food here was pretty good, but prices were a smidge high on most things for us. I didn't particularly care for the pork rinds, when I normally do love pork rinds. Service was friendly enough and atmosphere was nice enough. We might try something else from here in the future.

Nice butcher shop in the heart of Maplewood. They have some beautiful cuts of meats at fairly decent prices. All of their meats are cut in house. They also serve hot food and you are able to sit inside or take it to go. I grabbed me a pork Panini and a side of fries. The sandwich was hot and fresh, cooked to order. The pork was tender, seasoned well, the sauce that was on the sandwich was flavorful. The fries were crunchy. I wasn't a fan of the garlic aioli dipping sauce as it didn't really have a lot of flavor. There is street parking and a small parking lot next to the building should you choose to park there. Inside there are a few tables and counter top seating. There is a viewing window so you can watch the butchers while they are hard at work. The staff were friendly and took my order right away. No complaints! I will definitely be back to purchase some smoked meats.

    Lard biscuit/peach butter

I was in town and caught a few seconds of a random newscast where it was mentioned that this place was ranked among the best butcher shops in the country. Naturally, I had to try it. I can say with confidence that after doing so, that you should try it as well and that you will not be disappointed. It sits in a quaint, walkable area in the city surrounded by other shops and restaurants so it's not hard to find and the area itself is really pleasant. The shop is super clean with a modern/industrial vibe and has seating both inside and outside for those days when the weather is great or you're feeling a bit of fresh air. Order at the counter, take a number, fill your beverage and they'll bring your meal to your table. Now this place is more than just a restaurant. It's also a full service butcher. They source their meats from small (often local) farms and process them on site. You can watch the actual butchering through a large window that faces the dining area and see the magic unfold for yourself. With all that said, you can of course choose from a variety of incredible looking meats that are available to take home and cook for yourself. A variety of sausages from Irish bangers to brats, thick sliced bacon, steaks of every kind, and all those fancy little meats that you might normally find on a high-end charcuterie board. If you love and understand meat, you will be impressed if not thrilled by their selection. (I saw a slab of pancetta that I wanted to take a bite out of right then and there) Really great stuff. Now on to the dine-in menu. I ordered the burnt end breakfast and the lard biscuit from their brunch menu, and my friends both had smash burgers. The prices and portions were reasonable given the quality, (and given the portion size of that burnt end breakfast). The burgers were fully smashed and beautifully crisp, served with light, airy buns that stood up to the burger and held together well without adding too much bulk. Excellent patties, excellent bread...the foundation for any good burger. 10 out of 10. The breakfast bowl...I did not expect the portion to be so large. A generous amount of large burnt end chunks, lots of tallow-fried potatoes, and a perfectly fried egg on top to add that little extra flavor to set the whole thing off. Outstanding. I had enough for leftovers. The lard biscuit was flaky, crispy, yet dense in the middle and very filling. Served with a house made peach butter/jam that really added a ton of tartness to offset the lardy goodness of the biscuit. Someone really thought these flavors through. Overall the food was better than most people would expect even if they were expecting something good. I would order anything I had again and again. The service was quick, the food was great, the vibes were on point, and the place was clean and tidy. They're serving up farm to table burgers, sandwiches and brunch items, and anything you could ask for from a full service butcher shop. If they aren't on your radar, they should be. They're winning awards and making the national rankings for a reason. Get down there and give them a shot if you're in the area. You won't regret it. 5 stars.

They did not have this but once the very nice lady that works there knew what I wanted she was able to recommend items I would enjoy. She is so patient and kind. I enjoy the fact that she is extremely knowledgeable about the products and gave me a taste of everything I asked for, even mixing oil and vinegar together for me so I could taste the combination. She took her time explaining the bottle sizes (and a bonus, I didn't know before is that if you keep your bottle and clean them, bring them back and they will refill them with a new oil. It saves on the cost a bit because you don't have to buy new bottles) There is a very nice stock of alcohol as well here and they are all so unique. I am not a drinker so I skipped that but the selection of oils and vinegars is just as impress. They also have things like risotto, spices, chutneys, honey, chocolates and more. It is a very cute and welcoming space where you are greeted, allowed to explore and then assisted which makes for a great shopping experience. There is also a man who works the shop who I spoke with last time and I'd like to acknowledge that he is equally as friendly and knowledgeable about products and very friendly and helpful. Now I want to say here that I really feel when it comes to oil and vinegar you get the quality you pay for. Bot only does Vom Fass stock items using herbs and fruits that are in season but they are truly quality items. I am health conscious so enjoy using oil and vinegar of salads or veggie platters and Lao use flavored oils for roasting vegetables and each time I have used a Vom Fass item, I have been blown away by the taste so their products are definitely splurge worthy. I'd attend such a meeting, but more so for the lulz (but also to share my beliefs). I'm pleased to report that there's none of that going on here, that I'm aware of. Granted, this was a Sunday morning. I was there with my running group as part of our ongoing unofficial breakfast burrito tour, the last such stop until this fall, due to upcoming marathon training. Of course it was the most unpleasant day of the year, maybe ever, with a heat index of 117 (no hyperbole). I changed shirts before I came in and then sweated through that shirt as well. One of the ladies I was with left a gross pool of sweat in her chair after she left. It didn't occur to me to pull a Charlamagne tha God until hours later. I'm growing as a human being. Part of that growth is gradually coming to realize that seasonal lattes, unless they have sort of especially distinct flavor, like banana, aren't going to taste like anything other generic artificial sweetener, let alone what they purport to be. I considered ordering an iced caramel latte, but I figured what the heck. I went with something called a Miso Brown Sugar Latte. It was good for what it was, but I don't know that anyone, if you gave it to them to try, could identify it as that. I liked the fact that it had a somewhat more pronounced coffee flavor, compared to some places where it mostly just tastes like a glass of milk. I wasn't as crazy about the fact that it took a while for the ice cubes to cool it down, probably longer than it would have taken if it were served in a glass cup. I went with something called the Annex Burrito, which I didn't realize until after I ordered it is not the only burrito they carry. I guess you can also get a bog-standard breakfast burrito with bacon, eggs and cheese. This one comes with corn, beans and some sort of unidentified crema for the same amount. Maybe they give you less bacon. Mine didn't have a lot of bacon, but the bacon it did have was not crisp and had a precooked vibe. The latter was more of an issue for me than the former. I'm a savage in that way. I did appreciate the fact that it was griddled, possibly using a panini press. The exterior was ever so slightly crisp, while the interior was pizza roll-level molten. The overall vibe was similar to those microwave burritos they used to carry at 7-11, but in a good way. All I needed was a mini truck enthusiast magazine filled with photos of bikini-clad Latinas and a Windex-blue Slurpee, but I was able to make do with a lukewarm mystery latte and the old ladies I run with. I'm resourceful.

My eyes immediately did a quick scan trying to figure out where everything was that I saw in the video. Big cookie? Check (register); the chips? (Made in house and directly behind me on the shelf). The jackpot was the sandwiches which were located in the deli to the left of the register. I made my way back there and was surprised that not only did they have a hot bar, but they also had tons of deli meat, different cuts of meat, breads and vegetables! I took a quick scan of the menu and knew I wanted the Truffles Caprese but on foccacia instead of the bread it came with. I noticed the hot bar had shrimp and some chicken balls which I found out were chicken spiedini! While ordering my sandwich, I inquired about the spiedini and they let me try some. The spiedini was equally good, if not better than what they serve at Charlie Gitto's. It was packed full of flavor, had a nice char on the outside and seasoned to perfection, just how I like it. I ended up sticking with the sandwich and decided to browse the store while my sandwich was being made. I love how they have everything you need and at relatively good prices. I was surprised at how much alcohol they had- it seemed like they had more of that than the groceries! It wasn't long until my sandwich was ready and I decided to grab a chocolate chip cookie because you know I couldn't leave without getting something sweet. My first bite of my sandwich surpassed my expectations as the balsamic was so fresh as were the tomatoes and the burrata paired well with the rest of the ingredients. After a few bites, I felt the cookie calling my name. It was perfect in every way- soft, the right amount of chocolate chips, and the sea salt sealed the deal as far as the taste goes. My first visit to the Truffles Butchery Market was a success and I'm already trying to figure out when I can return!
