We had a very unfortunate experience getting to Hillsdale from Detroit in our rental car from Avis (nightmare is more accurate) and he was more than accommodating, polite, understanding and very helpful during the entire time. The hotel is in a pleasant and charming neighborhood in close proximity to Hillsdale College and downtown. The grounds are well kept and welcoming. Check in was a breeze and our room was perfect. Some of the rooms do share common bathrooms, but this was expected and fine with us. Back in the day most of Europe was like this and we were used to it. The common areas were clean and cozy, other guests were fun to chat with and the "guest Haas" feeling was welcoming. The continental breakfasts were light and fresh, more than adequate. Overall a wonderful stay at a reasonably priced Inn, the service was way above any place we have stayed in years.

Let me start by saying that the people who are giving it such low ratings must be absolute Karen's and Karl's. I mean this isn't the freaking Grand Hyatt Regency in downtown Chicago nor is it the Trump Hotel. This is an American Best Value Inn. I think it says it all in the title of the hotel name. I travel a lot for work. I stay at all types of hotels. I will say this. This hotel is very clean. It has modern features. The staff are very nice. It's only $65 a night. What more do you want people? I mean, I could tell you stories of the Motel 6's, Super 8's, Quality Inn's and Days Inns that are not this modern and nice or this clean. The rates are at least 50% more in most cases. You truly are getting a good value at this hotel, and the big kicker is as I said above it's clean . No broken things or Bed Bugs. I gave this a four star rating and they deserve every last one. I can't tell you about the breakfast that they offer because I don't eat breakfast at any hotels so that doesn't factor into my decision. I enjoy staying and relaxing and being out on the water. Marble lake is a lake that's part of a series of channels and lakes and that's one of my favorite things about this particular area. As mentioned above there's a pretty nice price tag on what we pay and because of that it would be nice to see the money that so many are paying for go towards upgrades in the resort. Better restrooms and showers... more full hook ups in the camper area... heck even new playground equipment... throw us a bone!! For as much as lot rent is as well as paying for our own electric on top of that this resort has to be pocketing a lot of money and I would be thoroughly impressed if we start to saw some, *any* kind of upgrade in the resort. Anyways the resort is usable and not by any means in bad shape. I enjoy spending my weekends here and don't have many complaints. Side note the corner store on the water has amazing hand dipped ice-cream that can't be beat. If you're here, don't miss it.

I let the management know how clean our room was when we first arrived because it was very clean, even though outdated. We slept like crap on the springs that were popping up in the bed. The pillows were awful and all night long..... it sounded like someone was wiggling our door knob, trying to get in our room so needless to say I had maybe three hours of sleep. And to top it off, we both had to turn opposite directions and sleep in both of the queen beds because all you could smell in between the beds was adult urine saturated in the carpet We had decided that we were going to go down to the front desk and cancel Saturday night. Since we had already paid, it was not an option and we were like 10 minutes after 11 AM check out so it was our fault, I take full responsibility and we did not argue. And the breakfast they offered was above and beyond just nasty. They actually had tangerines that were so dry you wanted to just make a pair of shoes with them. I think my biggest irritating factor is the pool is cold and the sauna hot/ hot tub whatever doesn't work... but if you compare this to any other Best Western, check it out before you stay!!!! I I personally feel that Best Western with the prestige they have and having their name on this building is a very big mistake. And it's funny they were advertising online rooms for the night that were $44 cheaper than what we actually paid with all the discounts we got for being Best Western members. I do not recommend this location because you're not going to sleep well the urine is major on top of just I feel dirty.
