She had just turned old enough to qualify and started skateboarding only last summer. Although still relatively new to the sport, she felt totally comfortable and confident joining thanks to the warm, supportive environment. One of her favorite moments was getting to skate with Kaci Woolf, which truly inspired her. From a parent's point of view, everything about the camp was well organized, safe, and thoughtfully run. The food was delicious, the daily routine was solid, and the staff were attentive and encouraging. We especially want to thank Coach Joseph, who not only kept a close eye on our daughter but also earned her complete trust. Because she felt so supported, she was willing to try new tricks and push herself further than ever before. Our daughter brought her phone with her, but barely contacted us during the week--clearly, she was too busy having fun. That made Coach Joseph's thoughtful updates even more meaningful to us. Every message and photo he shared showed her smiling, skating, and thriving. The only minor issue was that one of her shoelaces broke partway through the week, and unfortunately the camp store didn't carry replacements. It was a small hiccup, but a good reminder of how tough skateboarding can be on shoes. When we picked her up, the very first thing she said was, "I want to come back for two weeks next year!" She came home full of joy, confidence, and new friendships. We're deeply grateful for the experience and would absolutely recommend this camp to other families.

The space design allows kids to choose what they want to do and caters to either watch or participate. If I were thinking about having kids I'd more into the neighborhood for this resource. He is now almost 6 and ready to start kindergarten. The care and support they have shown our entire family over the years is more than anyone could hope for. They gave him a love of learning, a safe space to grow and learn about himself, to find friends and build social skills, all the while keeping us parents fully in the loop. Sending pictures every day and newsletters every month. They have professionals from OMSI and Firefighters, etc come and visit to further enrich the students and the kids are always having fun while they learn. I'm so happy they are close to us, so we can now give our daughter the same experience. The staff is amazing and they truly do care about the kiddos and even the parents. Love love love this school!

The class sizes are small, the teachers are consistent, and the parent communication is outstanding. Every teacher knows and loves our daughter, and they bring such care to the small details of her life. I've noticed all the little things like helping her take off a sweatshirt when it's warm outside (vs letting her overheat!), fixing her hair to be out of her face, and remembering to ask about something she said she was going to do over the weekend. The preschool learning is exactly our speed - this Fall has included About Me, Feelings, My Family, calendar, weather, a letter each week, etc. We get lots of photos on the app so I feel included in what's going on and can talk with my daughter about her day. Snacks and lunches are great too, and the kids eat outside when the weather is nice. The long hours are awesome too - 7:00-6:00. We rarely need such long hours, but it's so much less stressful to not race the clock to avoid late pickup at 5:05 or not having to wait in the parking lot if we arrive a little early. After the pandemic, it's a hard transition to having my daughter away from home during the day, but Belmont has made it really easy. It feels small and cozy, not like a giant facility where my kid is just one in a big group. I can't say enough wonderful things!

I've seen them take creative steps to keep and make the programs more interesting. All of that is great, impressive and you'll see that better described in their catalogue. What I've always loved about the program, that is harder to put in a catalogue, is that makes real space for the kids to be kids. It is structured for safety, but not so over-structured that kids aren't able to explore their own interests and, well, just play. The teachers are caring and committed, and they do an amazing job of meeting the kids on their own level, with respect. Appropriate leadership, appropriate protectiveness, without condescension. Over the years the director has encouraged staff to bring their own skills and interests to the kids to enrich the program, whether it was working in a garden that the program created, theater, yoga. The program has a lot of integrity. It is one of the greatest gifts Portland has given my children, no doubt. i can't recommend KCLC highly enough.

The Goddard School was truly a gift for our family. The teachers and staff that cared for our…read moreinfant daughter were incredible! They were attentive, loving and super communicative. They use the Procare app to communicate with families all day long so we had a good sense of what was happening with our child. My daughter really thrived there. The facility is very nice, clean and welcoming. It has great safety and security features to protect little ones. We were super sad to leave but the commute to and from the school over the Sellwood Bridge became too burdensome :/
