Coming from Seattle where we basically do not have any more places to buy soccer gear anymore I happened to be in Portland for other reasons and found this great soccer shop. At a time when everyone says they have very little inventory this place had a great selection of firm ground, turf and indoor boots available. The pricing was great and the customer service was perfect. I am slightly partial to my brands and styles and this shop had it all. My next visit to Portland will definitely include a stop here. read more

We visited last weekend to purchase both indoor and outdoor boots. My son couldn't make up his mind between an expensive pair of outdoor boots and a pair on clearance. The young man who was helping us said we could bring back the pair he chose against if we bought them both...so we bought three pair total. Came back two days later to return the pair that had been on clearance. Nope! They wouldn't take them back because their policy is not to accept returns on clearance items. Mind you, I've four kids, two still playing club soccer. Outside the uniform that I have to buy here, do you think I'll be buying $300 boots two or three times a year for two kids each? Certainly not until the empower their employees to make the right choices for their customers! Unbelievable Update! Far Post has graciously remedied the situation. While I still believe that some of their employees may need customer service training, I do find myself wanting to support this small business. read more

Moving to a new city can put a damper on things you take for granted but I'm starting to get into the swing of things and even found a new soccer team to play with. So with a new city and a new team I needed a new establishment to outfit myself. In Seattle there was Soccer West, a small but dedicated shop that focused on providing the best selection of a soccer equipment in the area. Luckily for me Portland is as soccer-friendly as Seattle and doubly-lucky for me there's Far Post! The store is small but packed with a wide range of boots and balls, and a great selection of replica kits. I had no problem finding a pair of turf shoes for my foray into futsal. It's location is pretty central and while being downtown might be a bear for most people, they do have a parking lot that's free. When I find an outdoor league/team to play on I know where to get my boots. read more

If I was a dude I would probably love this place. Unfortunately I happen to be female. I went in this past weekend for some turf shoes. They didn't have any women's specific shoes. Nor did they have any women's indoor shoes. My only option was a small men's shoe, which I ended up going with. I'm sure they'll work fine. I guess I'm just disappointed that there were ZERO options for women. All this store carries is soccer gear, and they couldn't include one option for women? Aside from my disappointing trip this weekend, I've been in a few times and purchased a few things. They have a good selection of soccer accessories- balls, socks, shin guards, etc. Like other stores, way more options for men. But the store is stocked and well organized. Employees are helpful but not overly friendly. I'm on their email list and sales are usually a little disappointing. Overall a solid soccer supply store, especially if you're a guy. read more

What can I say? This palce is the heaven for soccer maniac. Staffs are friendly and very knowledgeable about their products. They do have great variety of jersys, soccer wear and cleats. Top of the they have their own parking lot, consider it's still downtown and it's free parking. I'm not going to complain how small the lot is, I parked my full sized pick-up just fne lol... I'm jealous of the selection of jerseys they have here that you can't necessarily find at a store in the bay area. As for the prices some items seem to be very over priced. I was looking for goalie gloves and noticed the same goalie gloves I saw there were almost +$40 more than the store I usually go to in Alameda. So much for waiting to check out this store and hoping to buy some gear since there's no sales tax. Aside from the prices, we did find a soccer ball we wanted to buy. We were standing there for over 5 minutes to get checked out because the girl working the cash register was trying to find a roster for this other customer who needed her jersey printed while I'm assuming the manager was busy talking to some friends...awesome your friends came by but this little girl needed her jersey...I just felt bad for her because they made her stand there while the girl cashier and another employee were checking people out for their purchases. In June I took our team order directly to the store, along with payments as when trying to do so online was unsuccessful, as the links weren't working. I was in a panic and team order was needed asap, but we were leaving on vacation the next day. I had all checks and order forms, and personally drove the order down and handed to Calvin, who said he would enter for me with no problem. When I got home after dropping off order, Calvin said my order was $43 off. I didn't have time to review, but wrote a check and mailed off. Hoping this would not hold up team order. Another parent was to pick up order. Two weeks later after returning from vacation, nobody had heard anything about uniforms. I called Calvin, and he was waiting on someone to pick up order, instead of calling the parent who volunteered to pick up order and whom Calvin was suppose to call when order was filled. I returned from vacation and found out order was not picked up. Called Calvin and went to store to retrieve order. When there asked Calvin for the original order forms back, but he couldn't find them. Everyone's order was complete, but my daughters order was missing socks and ended up with XL warm up pants we did not order...daughter is a medium. This made sense why I was asked to pay $43 more. Calvin mixed up the order when entering into computer (order forms are micro small and mistakes happen... easy to do to do) Calvin said no problem, and I'd have a check issued when the accountant posts them once a month. I sent Calvin an email to confirm our discussion reminding him of the refund. Fast forward to September, and roughly 6 calls later, two more emails explaining to the new team sales guy, Brian, and still no check. Calvin was fired, they are into their busy and Brian, who took over Calvins mess can't find any of my emails (even thought I sent him twice the email train of correspondence with Calvin) he said he'd take my word for it and issue me an in store credit because they don't do cash refunds (Calvin said they would). We don't need anything, in store. We live in SW Washington so driving over to purchase something at the Portland store we don't need isn't convenient. What is convenient is to send me a $43 check. Brian is to talk to the owner, and get back with me. Four days have past and no call or check. Team sales, though I understand is super busy, is disorganized. Hey, Owner, check out this review, talk to Brian, and issue me a check. When this is complete I'll think about updating this review. Update: after 12 days and no response from owner, went in to Far Post 10/1 to redeem our in store credit and there was no credit record on files. The guys working were kind enough to stay open 15 minutes longer and honor my word and records of communication. They did help us pick out $43 worth of socks and a ball pump. Non of which we needed. Would have rather had a refund. Also, to avoid team ordering confusion. Get rid of the micro online order print out form and figure out a computerized order processing with what coaches need for individual teams. Parents can do individual orders and pay online versus checks. Ship directly to client. Work with UPS and their small business division. Far Post makes it hard to read and place team orders... read more

This place has horrible customer service, and employees that don't know store policies that give you wrong information and cause you to make several unnecessary trips, everyone you talk to tells you something different. Worst of all, they don't stand behind their products and sell defective merchandise. DONT buy cleats here for sure! read more

I whole-heartedly agree that their store is male-centric...well, the entire sporting goods industry is so can't blame 'em for that. I can blame them however when there are just as many female footballers looking for gear than there are guys. Plus, with the surge of females looking for lacrosse cleats/turf boots, you'd think they would stock them. Why do I care so much about the fact they don't cater to girls well?? I've coached girls club, rec & highschool soccer for 10+ years and I've had to hear it from players & parents about how hard it is to find gear. Lastly, you can forget about not being Caucasian in this store...you won't get help/customer service...sad, sad, sad. You would think with the Int'l make-up of professional & semi-pro soccer teams these guys and gals would be more friendly...sadly, that's not the case. I definitely get treated differently depending on who I'm with and what nationality they are. Bottom line, if I need something from this place (because they have the market on soccer selection), I beeline for what I need and don't mess around. If I feel like being made uncomfortable because I have a natural tan, I'd head south and set up shop outside a skinhead boot camp. read more

My journey for boots continue and i am starting to feel hopeless. With a few stores (not by choice) I've tried and the quest for turf cleats continues i am starting to feel that this area has no demand for artificial turf shoes. But here it's a little different. From the outside i thought this was going to be a tiny cramped shop and it's far from it. Lots of room, good selection, even a clearance section which i was excited to sift through. Not only was the selection better than the other stores I've been to but the service has been the best. I asked for a size in cleats and what did i get? a few of them and a little off sizes. Those who shop for boots know that size isn't always consistent and half a size is a huge difference. I was able to get extra info that i didn't even notice. when none of the shoes worked for me, he let me try a different brand even though they don't carry the turf version just so I'd know how they would feel and suggested where to go online to get them. Service was a winner which made me happy but I'm still searching for a pair of cleats to help me kick the other team's ass! read more

Just went there today to pick up soccer gear for my youngest son. For me, it is a long drive out there, but the customer service is excellent, and I like that they give a deal to soccer clubs for uniforms. Nice place to get gear, and lots of Timbers stuff! read more

No matter what the product or the question, they do their best to find the product or find the answer in a respectful, timely and thorough manner. Customer service is lacking. If you need something, don't even think about waiting for someone to help you, you'll need to be vigilant about getting some attention. Also, when I went in they did not have the product I was looking for, MTTSC green jersey's are apparently only sold there. They took my name and number and were due to call me when the product arrived. I just gave them a call since I hadn't heard from them and my son needs his jersey by next Sat. The product is in, as I just found out. I had to ask who I'd called because they just answered the phone with a "hello". Needless to say, I bought everything else my son needed elsewhere. I was visiting Portland for the weekend and wanted to go to some cool soccer stores. I have heard about the far post from other reviews and it sounded great. As i walked in I couldn't believe how much stuff this place had. All the new boots, the world cup kits, the Portland timbers fan gear, it was great. Super cheap for what you get. Clearance section has some insane deals. Bought a ton of Timbers fan gear and new boots. As my mom and I were about to leave we realized it was pouring out. My dad had the car at a meeting so we were just going to call a taxi. The owner, I think his name was Sunny, overheard us and offered to call us a cab. We said thanks but we can do it. He then looked outside and saw how bad it was raining and offered in a totally nice and genuine way to drive us in his car back to the Heathman hotel! The entire drive back he talked to me about the Timbers/Sounders rivalry and he was one of the nicest guys I have ever met. Please support great service like this and go the the Far Post. Will be the only soccer store I go to when i revisit Portland. read more
