I came here for removal of calluses on the bottom of both my feet not covered by my Kaiser insurance. It was easy to schedule a legit and secure appointment. The physician listened to my needs and provided informed and appropriate care. The office is clean and in a good location. 3 weeks later my feet are healed and walking feels effortless unlike before when walking felt like torture to my feet. I've been a patient at Balance Foot and Ankle for over a year with an active, ongoing treatment plan. I needed a simple prescription renewa that Dr. Abraham prescribed -- and couldn't get a human being at the actual office to handle it. The phone system routes to a call center that can only book appointments. When I asked them to transfer me to the office for a prescription renewal, I was put on hold for 10 minutes and then hung up on. Multiple callbacks got me nowhere, no human, no resolution. I shouldn't have to book an appointment and wait weeks just to get a renewal on a prescription that's part of my existing treatment plan. This is a basic patient care function and the office infrastructure completely failed at it. Dr. Abraham is great, but if you can't reach the office when you have an actual medical need, that's a serious problem. Fix your phone system. read more

I booked the appointment well in advance and made sure I was ready. I took the day off work and arrived at the scheduled time. I was shown to a room and left there, waiting for an hour. Then, a staff member appeared and said the appointment would have to be rescheduled because the doctor was running late. I agreed to reschedule for later that same day. When I arrived at the clinic, I was once again put in a room and left sitting in a chair, waiting for the doctor. Another 30 minutes went by--and no one showed up. So, I told the receptionist I wouldn't wait any longer. I left feeling extremely upset; in fact, I left in tears. Sobbing! Never in my life have I seen such a lack of respect for a patient. I am emotionally devastated by this disrespect. I do not recommend this clinic. Care begins with punctuality and respect. read more

I was handed a piece of moleskin and instructed to create a small rectangle buffer in my shoe. What? What kind of long-term management strategy is this? Me and my daughter saw Dr Cat Pham Gia at the SAn Jose location. The sizing for the orthotics is done by photos on an iPAD. The last time I got mine, the orthotics were done weight-bearing, standing in a plaster of paris mould, which resulted in accurate readings. The orthotic was ill fitting, so was sent back (I was charged for that tryout visit; btw was already charged for the first fitting visit), came back, I tried them on (was charged again). The orthotics were ill-fitting and resulted in knee pain (seen by an orthopedist). I called the office that the orthotics are ill fitting, woudl they adjust them at no-cost and I was told I would be charged the offfice visit (plus orthotic cost if needed) again! Now to the Balance healthcare billing practices. They require 325$ upfront deposit. My insurance reimbursed for the orthotics. No refund, no call from them. I happened to call them a month later and they said, we wait for patients to call us to request the refund, as we don't know if the payment method has changed. How about refunding and calling the patient if the method bounces back?! I asked them how come this is not explicitly told to the patients at the time of payment? They cited their contract- which does not state this anywhere!! I'd stay clear of this practice network and the provider (although I think the doc does not define the rules and is a victim of the corporate practice himself). read more

I came in for a problem with one foot and the highly observant doctor, identified an issue on my other foot and ask if I would like for him to address it as well. The issue on my right foot, I black toe nail, was painlessly removed and the problem with my left foot, which I had given up on, a plantar wart, is resolving. I have been returned 4 times to this office and I have always had a pleasant experience here with no wait time. I highly recommend this office and Dr. Abraham. read more

If you're very active and looking for a pair of orthotics to maintain neutrality, I would not recommend Dr. Hiatt. On visit 1, I stepped on the equivalent of a xerox machine to take digital images. I was skeptical, the Dr was not. On visit 2, it was immediately obvious that the product that came back did not address the primary issue we were solving for. The Dr decided to make a cast of my feet on the spot...except there was no casting material in the office. On trip 3, my feet were casted and I request a certain material and posting style. On trip 4, I received orthotics that were lighter weight material than I had requested and had no support posting (!!!). On trip 5, I was handed my orthotics posted with soft material that has since already broken down. Front to back this was a six week saga that cost $1200 and lots of time. He's nice, but he's not your guy if you need orthotics for a very active lifestyle. read more

I saw Dr. Hiatt for plantar fasciitis. I was really afraid of a cortisone shot after hearing others stories of how painful they are especially in the foot. He did not push me to have the shot, he let me decide. He used an ultrasound to guide the injection. He has a calming manor that immediately put me at ease. My fears were not realized! I have no fear of having another one (which I may not need!), my pain subsided that day and has not returned. It has been 6 weeks. I tried PT for 5 months but still had constant pain prior to my visit to Dr. Hiatt. I recommend him 100%. I will see him for any foot needs I have. read more

If I could give them a ZERO rating I would. Worst doctor's office experience EVER. They sent another person's info when I was supposed to get an MRI. After 2 1/2 weeks, I figure it out - NOT them. After 1 more week, I am the one that has to connect them to the insurance company because they couldn't do it on their own. So I was in a boot for a month just waiting on my MRI. When I finally get the results and I go in to hear what the problem is, I waited for 1 hour and 15 minutes. I will never go back there again. I would highly discourage anybody from going there. Dr. Hiatt and his staff are absolutely wonderful. I had a bunionectomy and a hammer-toe corrected. I had waited ten years to have it done due to fear of excruciating pain and wound infection. Dr. Jay is amazing! After visiting several doctors who couldn't figure out what was wrong with my foot, Dr. Jay was able to fix it. He was extremely patient and walked me through the whole procedure! He knew I was very nervous and he made sure that I understood everything and calmed me. After six months without being able to walk, Dr. Jay fix my foot and the revovety was only two weeks! Just a great doctor and person. I went to Dr Hiatt after another doctor had left me with an infected toe. He got to know me (asked about hiking and why I needed my foot), let me make the decisions in an informed way (only operated on one two of two), and delivered excellent care (clear post-op instructions, plus responding to text messages with pictures of injured feet as they healed)!. I went to Dr. Hiatt for ingrown nail, corn removal and ankle fusion. The corn and ingrown nail operation which were done with ankle fusion went well. But it looks like he did not know how to the fusion. After two month of being in pain and in cast, he send me to physical therapy and I went thru another 4 months of pain. He did a second operation to remove the hardware because he thought they were the problem. He told me that would order a cat scan to see what's wrong but he ordered Scanogram instead of cats-can. I finally saw another Doctor. The moment he saw my foot, he said the fusion had not taken. I had to go through the operation again and I have to go through Another two months of non-weight bearing cast and painful physical therapy afterward. I absolutely Do not recommend him for major foot surgeries. read more

Dr. Hiatt is the reason I'm still running at age 72. He fixed the pain in my foot, he's personable and professional. I referred two other patients to him, and they are each pleased. He just did surgery on my wife's foot, and it turned out to have what he called "subtleties" - i.e., it was more complex than expected but Dr. Hiatt handled it fine.
