What I thought was a relatively minor issue, my optometrist, Dr. Ngo, referred me to Dr Goldberg. I got an appointment right away and here I am. I was initially seen by Sumaira, who took all of my intake information, dilated my eyes, and gave me several vision tests. She was very through and explained everything to me. A very pleasant person. I was taken to another examination room and I saw Dr Goldberg. He have me examined my eyes and gave me his diagnosis. Dr wanted me to return for a follow up visit. Finally, a pleasant fella named Matt took several scanned photos of my eyes. He walked out and I get my follow up visit. All in all a very professional visit to the doctor. read more

First time I saw a doctor and he was on time, didn't have to wait for hours in my car (ugh). Referred here by my regular ophthalmologist to confirm bilateral pseudopapilledema. Receptionist was awesome and understanding even when I was late cause I parked in the wrong parking lot. She had such a positive attitude about it, didn't make me feel bad about any questions I had or the fact that I wasn't punctual (ugh so unlike me)! (Other receptionist or woman at the front desk was a bit more rigid and serious when I asked a question regarding how my information is handled/shared with other parties, nonetheless she tried her best to be informational). All questions and tests were done at my pace, and all my talking made it take longer, but the assistant never made me feel rushed! She was awesome and sweet, a joy to sit with through all those boring eye tests they make you do :) Dr. Goldberg finally saw me. Was extremely friendly even though I was a bit nervous and tired, he tried his best to make me feel welcome and was very warm and communicative and actually one of the nicest and humane doctors I've seen in awhile. Although he didn't explain anything more or new to me than what my other doctors have told me about the condition of my eyes, I was still happy to talk a little bit more about my eye condition with an actual medical professional instead of googling aimlessly on the net lol. He also used really simple language to help me understand what it was (I wish he would have given me more details about it but I'll save those in depth convos/questions for my regular ophthalmologist), and it made the experience more enjoyable, nice to feel like I'm not being talked down to. Chairs blocked off for proper social distancing, no long wait, not a lot of people in the lobby, great staff. Was my first and only time seeing them, hopefully my condition doesn't worsen and I don't have to go back since I'm relatively young and should not be having eye probs so early on lol. read more

Yes, Dr. Luo's credentials and experience are impressive, but the attribute that makes him unique among all the doctors I have seen is his deep empathy and warmth. He understands how emotional and scary problems with your vision are, and he makes his patients feel heard, cared for, and confident. I came to him with cystoid macular edema after glaucoma and cataract surgery that left me with extremely blurry vision in my left eye (which already had significant vision loss because of glaucoma). My cataract/glaucoma surgeon did not warn me about the high likelihood I might experience this compilation (I had a previous case of retinal vein occlusion which is what brought me to Dr. Luo originally) most likely because he didn't bother to fully review my file before my surgery (the office is not digitized so finding content requires shuffling through a thick folder). And his response to diagnosing the situation "Gee, you sure are unlucky" (given that less than 5% of people experience this complication). For the 5 days before I saw Dr. Luo I was despondent, thinking that the condition might be permanent (thanks Google). Immediately, he assured me he sees this condition frequently, and after a steroid injection, in a few days, my vision would improve significantly. He was 100% right. I am so grateful to have Dr. Luo as my retina physician. Now I just need to find another glaucoma doctor! read more

Two years ago I was referred to Dr. Goldberg for vision loss. Dr. Goldberg was very thorough in his exam and was able to suggest a diagnosis to my other Doctors. Further tests were done and he was correct. Major kudos from all the Doctors as a fairly rare issue. Back today for vision loss my optometrist was unable to correct. Dr. Goldberg once again was able to solve the problem. His staff are polite and helpful, explaining all tests in detail. I enjoyed talking with Dr. Goldberg and found him easy to understand. He showed my photos of my eyes pointing out the areas of concern and answered all my questions. No waiting needed. Staff is following all safety regulations due to Covid. read more

I had a sudden, severe impairment of vision in my left eye. I saw Dr, Goldberg today. In my 80 years or so, I've had contact with a few physicians along the way. Based on today's experience, Dr. Goldberg goes into my Top Five. He cared about my condition, he developed a plan for ongoing treatment, and was, relatively speaking, a joy to talk with. Initial appointment for my son was supposed to be with Dr Ray but got rescheduled, and he was seen by Dr. Goldberg.....not very friendly. When I called to make the appointment I told the receptionist that my son has spots on his eyes. Dr. Goldberg came in and my son was explaining to him what the problem was and added that on top of having spots on his eyes, his eyes are also itchy to which he said.....you don't go see a specialist for itchy eyes. Several years ago I was in danger of going blind because of a macular bleed that had occurred suddenly. I was referred to Dr. Craig Leong who immediately did a thorough exam and said I needed to have a shot in my eye to control the bleed. I had never met Dr. Leong before but somehow I felt that I could trust him and so our relationship began. It's been several years now and both eyes are involved. Dr. Leong is caring, funny, highly professional and I respect him completely. The staff is efficient and very friendly. The only waiting that has occurred is for the numbing medication to take effect - otherwise everything else is on time. Dr. Goldberg wasn't a very friendly Dr. I was referred here by my Pcp to see Dr. Leong but ended up seeing him. He didn't introduce himself and was very forcing during my exam. I had an appointment and scheduled a follow up for 6 months. A few days later, I got a call from another company related to my visit . They asked for my birthday, which I never do for calls I receive. I later confirmed the call and found they were soliciting to fund my next visit's procedure. My visit was 8/27/12, I provided them with the vision coverage info they requested and you would think that while the patient is waiting in their lobby they would take the time to call the insurance company and ensure they get clearance or at least a quote for their customer. I wasn't given any info about an amount being due or that they would bill me later or anything!! Complete lack of communication. Now I come to find a bill in the mail from them (15 months later) saying I owe their office $230.00. Make sure you're more clear with your patients what their visit is going to cost them before they walk out of your office! Completely unprofessional. Would not recommend! read more

I was referred to Dr. Ray by my regular eye doctor. I did develop a retinal hole while under Dr. Ray's care. Dr. Ray did the surgery (a gas bubble in my eye) in 2017. All seemed fine, although nearly all consults with Dr. Ray lasted under 3 minutes! Hard to get your questions in before he is out the door! I was scheduled to return for my 6 month follow up two weeks ago. After waiting nearly an hour I asked the staff when I would be seen and was told it would be another 15 to 20 minutes! I told them I would need to reschedule which created quite a rumble among the staff. They said there had been an emergency so Dr. Ray was running a bit behind. Well, more than an hour wait, to me, is more than a "bit" behind. But I figured I would give him another chance. So I came back today for my rescheduled appointment. And as before, the waiting room was full, but also as before I was taken in within a few minutes by a young technician to have my eye sight tested (letter chart on the wall) and eye drops. I told the young technician I would have to leave by 45 minutes after my scheduled appointment. I asked her if that would be a problem and she said it should not be. There were no unexpected emergencies. I was then returned to the crowded waiting room, and after a short time, I was taken back to have my retina photographed by another technician, then returned to the waiting room. By the way, the eye test and the retina photos had all been done just two weeks before, but apparently there was no record of these exams! All this preliminary technician work was completed within 20 minutes of my appointment time. I waited another 25 minutes, watching other patients get called out of the waiting room, and then when the 45 minutes I advised the staff about was over, I left. I am not returning. To me it is obvious that Dr. Ray is running a meat market, just over-scheduling patients with the arrogance that its OK for others to wait hours to see him, and then spending 3 minutes or less during the consult with him. Really? Who has the time or inclination these days to accept such poor business management, greed and arrogance, and lack of care and consideration in their doctor? I can't accept it. I've made an appointment with a highly rated different retina specialist and look forward to better care. It certainly couldn't be worse. read more

The BARA physicians appear to be competent, but their billing department cannot seem to handle the insurance claims process. The billing office filed a claim with my insurer under a different name than the treatment was provided under, so my insurer rejected the claim. Rather than re-file the corrected claim, BARA came after me for the charges. I paid them, but my insurer later told me I should not have paid, that they would cover the treatment if BARA re-filed. It's been almost a year now, and the issue remains unresolved. I've spoken to their billing department at least 8 times. read more

My Mom sees Dr Leung at this office. This is a group of physicians that specialize in retina disorders. We have been to this office here in Walnut Creek as well as the one in Pleasanton. I wish I didn't even have to give it one star. This office is horrible!! They book patients every 15 minutes yet the Doctor takes much longer. He is a very good and thorough Doctor however this office is very poorly managed. Matthew Carano is the office manager here. I tried to speak to him personally however he would not talk to me and told his receptionist to tell me basically it is what it is. We have had to wait from 2-3hrs every visit here. I call ahead and they tell me the Dr is one hour behind. I tell them fine we will be one hour late. I was told "your appointment will be pushed back then if you are not here at your scheduled time" . What is the purpose of making an appointment here?? Do yourself a favor DO NOT go to this office!!! Chose one of the other offices to attend. This office is managed very poorly ! It's all about the dollar and not about patient care. It is so unfair for patients to be kept waiting for 2-3 hours for EVERY appointment!! read more

Although Dr. Leong was great with my surgery, their office and staff are in need of help. The staff is rude and inconsiderate to the fact that a patient is recovering from a surgery. All my follow up appointment still have me waiting 1 1/2 to 2 hours to see the doctor. Even when I have an urgent need I'm told I cannot get in for 2 months. When you do have an appointment, while waiting, the staff and front desk people gossip and chatter behind the counter where everyone in the waiting room can hear. Many of the patients are older and they are treated terribly, I've seen this happen on many occasions. I wonder if the doctors know how bad and unprofessional the front office really is? If you do have surgery with this office, be aware that follow up office visits will take half a day away from your job and prepare for that. read more
