I normally don't rate medical providers but seeing all the negative comments I almost didn't book an appointment with the clinic, but trusted by PCP wouldn't steer me wrong. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I visited the Pittsburg clinic and from start to finish an all around great experience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]All the staff was friendly, professional and attentive.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was seen in a very timely manner. The physician, Dr. Wang was thorough and explained my condition very clearly to me, answering my questions. The building is older, with a shared waiting area, but it was clean and not overly crowded. I will be staying with Dr. Wang and their team for any needed follow up. I would recommend this practice. read more

I had a scheduled appointment at 3:00, as I waited to be seen, I over hear Dr Meng Lee saying that he need to leave by 4p.m. because he had a date. He was already running late, it was 3:45 when I overheard him. When he finally got to my appointment it was 3:55, now he's rushed. He dilated my eyes then proceed to give me an eye exam. I knew that was incorrec since my vision was blurred from the dilation. I called them back a few weeks later and explained what happened with Dr. Meng, they scheduled another appointment with a different Dr. to double check my vision prescription. Sure enough there's a big different. Furthermore, I was charged for both appointments. When I left the office they schedule a one year follow up. A few days afterward, I called the office and canceled the appointment since I no longer trust their provider's care. Fast forward a year later, I get a call from their office to remind me of my upcoming appointment which I canceled a year ago. I missed their call and they left me a voice mail, I picked up the voice mail within seconds after missing their call and called them back, 15mins prior to closing and the incoming calls were directed to their voice mail, I get it it's Friday. I left a message explaining the appointment was canceled and request for a call back to confirm. Monday morning I called to ensure they cancel my appointment. The first time I called they informed me two calls were ahead of me and put me on hold after ten mins. I hung up. I called back several times during the day and their voice mail indicated they were busy and directed calls to call their other locations if it's an emergency. I realise cancelation is not an emergency, but I do not trust in their care/services and charge me for late cancelation. I called their other locations which directed me to an answering service. I finally called the WC location again this afternoon and left yet another message to cancel my appointment. Please do your own research for a provider that cares about your health. In the Walnut Creek area there are lots of options. read more

My mother went to see Meng Lee, O.D. because she was experiencing vision loss. Despite her serious symptoms, he failed to properly evaluate or treat her condition. His care was dangerous, harmful, careless, irresponsible, and unprofessional. At the first visit, he performed some basic tests--eye pressure, vision check, and optic nerve exam--and told us her problems were just due to "old age." He never even mentioned the early cataracts that were documented in her record. At the second visit, he was still unsure of the problem. He did almost no new exams, "diagnosed" her with "dry eyes," suggested she "try" some eye drops, and said nothing else needed to be done--except repeatedly asking my mother to come back, without giving any clear explanation or follow-up plan. Instead, he pushed for glasses, even though glasses were not the cause of her vision problems. Most importantly, he did not perform or recommend any standard glaucoma tests, such as: Visual field testing OCT imaging Gonioscopy Pachymetry Referral to an ophthalmologist (a medical eye doctor) These are standard components of a complete glaucoma evaluation, especially in a patient aged 70, with cataracts and borderline IOP readings (20 mmHg is still within normal range but at the higher end). Although he presents himself as a "glaucoma-certified optometrist," he completely missed the signs of glaucoma and failed to manage my mother's serious condition. We specifically asked whether my mother might have glaucoma, and Dr. Lee told us no--without conducting any of the standard tests necessary to confirm or rule out that condition. We didn't question it at the time--because we didn't know about the standard glaucoma tests and trusted him, especially after he brushed it off and said she was "just old," as if that explained everything. Over two years later, a great doctor performed the proper tests and diagnosed her with advanced glaucoma at the first visit. Unfortunately, by then, the damage was permanent. This is a serious failure of care. If Meng Lee had properly evaluated her symptoms or referred her to a medical specialist, my mother's vision could have been saved. This level of negligence should not be tolerated in any healthcare setting. Someone who ignores clear signs of disease and fails to provide even the most basic standard of care should not be allowed to continue practicing. He should have his license revoked. read more

I never understood why the reviews were so bad at this office. I've been going here for two years now, and I've finally decided to speak on my own experience. The doctor is amazing, and the dental assistance are great. [[HIGHLIGHT]]it's the front desk ladies specifically one named Cassie. The visit itself was alright, no complains. However the process of getting my contacts was pain and created much headache. I went in for eye exam on 11/2 and was told my contacts would arrive within a few days. One week went by I informed them I still yet to receive my contacts and they told me few more days. Second week went by I called and no one picked up without returning calls. On 11/24, I was leaving for a month for my travels and in need of new contacts immediately so I called the Walnut Creek location again to no avail (later I found they closed early for thanksgiving). I checked the Brentwood office for a pair of trial contacts and they said they have one eye and couldn't give it to me but asked me to try Antioch. Finally, I drove to Antioch and they did have a pair of trials for me. On 12/4, my ring camera captured a postman trying to deliver a package but left with it instead of leaving it at the door. With me being out of the country, I had to ask my in laws to pick up the package from the post office. It turns out they are the contacts I had ordered a month ago. Also, the reason why the postman took it back with him was because California Eye Clinic Walnut Creek DID NOT PAY ENOUGH SHIPPING. My in-laws had to pay for the remaining amount they were supposed to include. I'm still out of country and very angry about this situation. There were no updates given at all about any delays with my contacts. This is very disappointing and you will expect a phone call when I return next week. read more

Dr. Meng Lee is the man! Very nice doctor and knows what he's talking about. Every time I come here the staff is very positive and helpful. California Eye Clinic also has locations in Brentwood, Antioch, and Pittsburg. All the doctors/staff at these locations are awesome too! I've met Dr. Mai, Dr. Ong, and Dr. Huff as well, and was very impressed by their professionalism. Highly recommend this practice! read more

She had super long nails and I believe they can transfer germs patients to patients since she's not wearing gloves! BUT, Dr.Lee, is super energetic, respectful, precise and happy. Going to the California Eye Clinic was a great decision. Dr. Lee performed a very thorough exam, and was even noticed the scars from the minor retinal detachment I had 20 years ago, which most eye doctors haven't been able to see. Even though it was my first time seeing dr. Lee, it was quite clear that he really cares about his patients and about doing the best work for them that he can. Bait and switch specialists! Called and specifically asked if they accept my company's unique eye plan (non VSP) and they are an In Network Provider. After confirming, I took the time to fill out their paperwork and went through the exam. Not until AFTER the exam did they mention my company's plan was not accepted and that I'm responsible for the difference. Since I switch companies and moved a few times, I've seen over 10 Optometrists and I've never experience such a deceiving practice. Usually before admitting a patient, the office will confirm your eye plan (last four SSN and DOB) so they know exactly what benefits you have BEFORE they administer any services. This practice just wants to get you in the door, sign their paperwork and bill you. I would never go to an Optometrist unless they are an In Network provider. There are so many good options out there. Lesson learned. Patient Beware. read more

Negative stars.. I am now getting harrassing emails from this office because I told the truth here. Lying about how much I was late to me as if I don't have a watch or can't tell time... why do you think I was so upset!!! (I was three minutes late, not fifteen... three... count 'em one two three and you were tossing me out)... bragging about how many loyal patients this doctor has... not if you read these YELP reviews he doesn't... oh I did forget to mention in my initial review that after I absolutely expressed how angry I was at having to wait two months for an appointment only to be told the doctor wanted to reschedule me for being three minutes late.. with an overflowing waiting room (like I would've been waiting for hours even if I was there three minutes sooner)... then they offered me to wait an extra several hours until the end of the day because I was three minutes late... so I could've stayed ther for two or three hours to have this doctor look at me. I guess I didn't go there because I thought that was even more insulting... like who in their right mind would accept that offer? After reading the other Yelp reviews I feel like I really dodged a bullet by being rejected by this doctor. I then went home and made an appointment with a real eye doctor who scheduled me for next week... and who had seen my daughter a few weeks ago... For the future, sending harrassing emails to people who tell the truth and leave bad reviews for you or your office does NOT make you look any better... it only makes you look far far worse (if that's at all possible). Also, learn a lesson already... if you treat your patients like garbage they will talk about you, not only on Yelp, but on other social media or to their friends, neighbors, family.... this is a community and if you crap on the people in your community it will come back at you one way or another. Shame on you. You are the one sending bad mojo on yourself out into the Universe. All you had to do was smile and treat your patients with understanding, kindness, courtesy and respect... that is what all doctors and their office staff should do. Please read before you come here. I took my grandmother here and we were examined quite fast we only waited in the waiting room a couple minutes. However we were told to wait after being examined and ended up waiting for over 1hr just to be put into the next room. I don't know if the doctor was running late or what. A lot of other people were even behind us. We were told that the appointment was to be really quick but it ended up taking around 2 hrs to have maybe a 30 minute appointment done. I do not recommend the place the people working are very friendly and nice but some time management skills are lacking it seems. There were even more people waiting behind us for even longer when we left. Whatever bad reviews were left here are true. While here someone asked why they were waiting for so long, a worker just responded with they are busy. Even though there are only about 4 people in the office. The doctor also has a very demeaning tone to his voice and doesn't know a clue about anything besides the eyes themselves. He constantly cannot answer easy question for customers and spends time trying to learn them. Shows he doesn't care much about his patients at all. I learned all this just my listening in from the waiting room. When he came in to explain said he was handling something. I have no clue how that something could be. He came in an said 3 things then we left. We waited for 1 hr just for him to tell us what the other helper had already said. I feel bad for my grandmother who says she always waits for so long. I was looking for a place to get an eye exam done & found CA Eye Clinic. I saw they had a bad review on here but decided to give them the benefit of the doubt... The eye exam went fine but one of the contacts I got from them ripped a couple weeks later and got lodged in the back of my eye. I couldn't get it out so I called CA Eye Clinic to see of they could help. They told me to come by, no appointment needed. I went in, the lady poked around with a q-tip, couldn't get the piece out so I went home. Two months later I get a bill for $250, thinking it was my eye exam and for some reason insurance had bounced it. Turns out they decided to charge me under the table for the 5 minutes of unsuccessful eye poking & didn't bother to tell me. Even my insurance lady commented on the bad business practice.
