This review is overdue. I want to start off by saying "thank you" to the wonderful staff at Bay Meadows KinderCare. Especially the Director Ms. Mimi. Ms Mimi truly cares about kids and she has a soft and warm heart. My daughter went to KinderCare for over three years since she was two. She loved going to KinderCare and made a lot of friends there. She's now doing great at elementary school and she still asks me from time to time to take her to visit KinderCare. My son started at KinderCare when he was 18 months old. He's a kid that struggles much more in his development. Ms Mimi showed her kindness and love in helping him develop which means so much to our family!! We can't thank her enough for her support and kindness! We recommended Bay Meadows KinderCare to a lot of our friends. We feel so fortunate that we found this place for our kids. read more

Unfortunately, our experience with this KinderCare location was disappointing. My son was enrolled at age two, and from the beginning, I noticed that the environment was not age-appropriate to healthy development. His first classroom was directly connected to the infant room without any proper separation. This lack of boundaries exposed him constantly to crying from much younger children, which I believe negatively impacted his behavior and emotional well-being. The classroom ratios were also a major concern. While the teachers were kind and genuinely caring, they were consistently overwhelmed due to understaffing. On some days, I saw up to 24 children under the care of a single teacher when the second staff member was either on break, out sick, or not replaced. This is not safe or developmentally appropriate. When my son transitioned to the next age group, the safety concerns became even more serious. I remember one winter day when I entered the classroom, and it was extremely cold inside. The heater was not functioning, and despite the staff and director being aware of the issue, no temporary solution was provided, and parents were not notified. The doors remained open to the cold, creating an unsafe environment for the children. Accordingly, due to these concerns, I was advised to move my son to a different classroom, but the sudden change and lack of proper transition left him emotionally distressed. He became more resistant to attending school, often crying in the mornings and developing frequent illnesses. The school also failed to inform parents when children in the classroom were ill. For example, when my son developed hand, foot, and mouth disease, we were simply called to pick him up, but we were never informed that several children in the class had similar symptoms prior to that day. One of the most painful things I recently discovered that was that my son had been physically hurt by other children, something that was never disclosed to me. This possibly explains his persistent crying and aversion to attending school, which I now understand as signs of distress that were not adequately addressed. It deeply saddens me that my son, who previously loved attending daycare and had positive early childhood experiences, was left traumatized by this school. I had to make the difficult decision to leave my job to be present for him, as coordinating between his inconsistent care at KinderCare and his health became impossible. While I sincerely appreciate the efforts of the teachers, the systemic issues at this location including poor ratios, inadequate facilities, and lack of transparency caused significant harm to my child's well-being. I hope this review helps other parents make an informed decision and that KinderCare takes serious steps to improve the quality of care and safety for all children. read more

After my observation of outdoor time of 4 yo class for 5 times last week and this week, I retain the thought that my daughter is active, love to participate, and not harmful. With some guidance, support, and knowing more about each other, she can be a great leader. After 5 days of observation, I still see that my daughter was not being redirected from other children that they don't get along. I haven't seen my daughter being paired with other children that they can get along as discussed with the teacher I don't see my daughter was being reminded to take time on one thing before moving on to the next activity. I see teacher standing in one position most of the time and there were no support or guided activities during outdoor time. (A child was yelling stop with other child for 5 mins without teacher redirection) While we were told my daughter had inappropriate behaviors (walking around during calendar telling time), those were normal to 4 years old according to California Preschool Learning Foundation, I would like to ask the teachers to list out what behaviors were inappropriate. ( there were no response from school) Because of the above, we believe the problem is on the teachers and the program. We request to withdraw my daughter by starting next week with refund of tuition fee since she joined 4 year old class last month. (For the refund, school is again not taking the responsibility.) *************** 20 mins later after the school feedback on Yelp. Someone from corporate called Sean called me and said I was not welcome to any kindercare and put all responsibilities on me. Be careful all parents. Also forgot to mention the director Mimi slammed on table with both hands and stand in front of me. While I was scared saying wow you are showing powerful and to call the regional director, it is described as I raised my voice and threat the director. There was only one reason I talked in school which is to speak for my 4 yo daughter. Poor teacher parent management. read more

We just had our last day in Kindercare. So sad to leave this place, the commute just got too much for me as we live in SF. My son is energetic and eats a lot so the staff were kept busy with him. Susan, one of the carers, was obviously very close to our son and made sure that he was happy going home everyday. She gave him extra cuddles every day I'm sure and was off the charts generous in buying my son 3 going away gifts. As I mentioned, my son is energetic. About 10 times over 3 months he got bit or bit another child. They always informed us and told us they would keep a close eye on the children. I appreciated their commitment and communication so I could make sure i kept an eye on my sons behaviour while not in daycare. I think they were surprised that i didnt care about other children biting my son :-) You get what you give! And he needs to learn to not grab toys off of others read more

I had my son with Kindercare for a few years (2-4 almost 5) through many classes and seasons of his early life and he enjoyed it really well. My son is super engaged with pre school and even started to excel in some areas (letters, counting, basic sight words) that I know will help him transition to kindergarten. The facilities to administration to the teachers just work. Very to the point and clear comms as well which is I need with 2 working parents. My daughter attended KinderCare (Toddler program) at Bay Meadows from June-2021 to September 2021. This was my daughter's first experience at a day care and we could not have asked for a better place to get started. Since it was COVID, we could tour the center only once before we placed her in it. Ms Mimi was very professional right from the initial call, tour, enrollment and eventual transfer process. She is very transparent and really wishes well for your child, family and all her other teachers and staff. This center has some really warm and compassionate teachers like Ms Shirley and Ms Anela. Ms Mimi is very proactive as well. She has erred on the side of safety on two occasions and sent my kid home as a precaution. We really appreciate that since we rather have our kid home, than have her catch something. The center has really helped our daughter open up and polish her social skills. Also, they nudge them towards potty training and my daughter really wanted to keep up with it even at home! We were very happy with this center and hope we have a similar experience at Santa Clara, where we transferred to. If you are looking for a place that would help you child enjoy day care and playing with kiddos their age, do consider the KinderCare at BayMeadows. read more

We went in for a tour initially and it seemed to good, however, getting responses back from this office, esp the director Mimi was difficult. I would call almost every week to understand what is the application process and next steps, and she would say she would call back but never did. This is long overdue. Mimi and her staff have been our saviors, especially during the pandemic. As an essential worker, I needed a safe place to care for my kids so I can work. Our oldest has been in Kindercare since she was 15 months, and is now thriving in her kindergarten class, also at Kindercare. Virtual school would have been a nightmare for us, and Kindercare came through yet again. Our youngest started at 7 months and loves going to school with her big sister! The teachers are incredibly loving and kind, and really take care of the children like they would their own. Not to mention the educational curriculum- very thorough, and more challenging than other places I have seen. I have the utmost trust in Mimi and the other teachers, and know that my kids are in great hands. read more

My daughter attended bay meadows kindercare since September 2021. She started from toddler class, when she turned two she move to discovery preschool and she just started preschool class a month ago. Our experience has been very positive. We felt teachers are invested in kids and they nurture each kids. My daughter is looking forward everyday to go preschool and she can't wait to see her friends. Too much fun that she sometimes wants to stay longer at pickup and show us around her classroom. The new director is so positive, energetic, and nice to kids. She pays close attention on each kid and trys to get to know them. She brought so much positive changes to this center. Disclaimer: our daughter attended for a few hours on two separate days before we decided to pull her out. This review is specific to the 2's room. We were less than thrilled with the greeting we received on our daughter's much anticipated first day at this center. We were escorted to her classroom where nobody greeted her and they clearly weren't prepared for her. We had to seek out the teacher and ask for a place to put her things. I would've hoped at the very least that the teachers would reach out to her with a minimum of "hello" versus us having to introduce her to them and that they would have thought to label a cubby for her. We had been in touch with the center for months before her first day so her first day certainly wasn't a surprise. After seeing the apathetic nature of the teachers in this room, we felt uncomfortable leaving our daughter. If nobody paid attention to her when she first arrived, I couldn't imagine leaving her in such a cold place like this on her own. I decided to stay with her a few hours the first day and was concerned with some of the things I saw. We gave it the benefit of the doubt and came back the next day and were still disappointed so we made the choice to pull her out. While there, I noticed the following: 1. Meals on the menu weren't meals actually served. I understand that sometimes substitutions are made, but the well-balanced meal I thought my daughter would be receiving were not well-rounded (I.e. menu stated cereal, milk, fruit and in actuality it was dry cereal). When I asked about the meals, I was told the grocery order was missed so there was a shortage of food. One of the main benefits of this place is parents don't have to worry about packing food so there should never be a shortage of food. And if there is, there should be a grocery store run. Immediately. 2. One of the teachers was not a nice person. The entire time I was there, I never saw her be warm, friendly or even smile at the kids. When I inquired about her, I was told she used to work in the kitchen. I couldn't help but wonder if she had any credentials or even wanted to work in the classroom? She seemed less than thrilled to be there and did not have any interest in interacting with the kids. Perhaps I could look past it if the other teachers were great, but this was not the case. I was less than impressed. I realize they have lots of kids to look after during the day, but I was extremely disappointed in the lack of attention offered to my daughter on her very first day there. As in not even a hello or any acknowledgement of a barely 2 year old being in a new environment and possibly needing some comfort. 3. I won't go into details but the potty-time situation was not the most sanitary. 4. It felt extremely chaotic and while some of the other kids had circle time with their respective caregivers, my child did not have circle time on either day. I would've hoped for the bare minimum of a song or even a story (as is typically the case at story time), but instead it was "free" time where kids were simply running around the room and playing with old/broken toys/blocks. Kindercare prides itself in a stimulating learning environment, but this is not at all what I observed. Given all this, I will say (again) that this experience was specific to the 2's Room. The teachers in the very next room (12-24 months) were amazing and super sweet with the kids. I could see their interactions over the wall and also during outside time so I do know that there are some great teachers at this center. In addition, the center director was very nice and open to feedback and said she would work to address it (we pulled our daughter out so I am not sure if it was actually addressed). For these reasons, I am giving this place 2 stars instead of 1. The advice I would give would be to spend a good amount of time there to see for yourself what the teachers/environment are like prior to enrolling your child. I wish we would have done this. After reading other reviews on here and our initial tour, we felt very good about our decision. But I would encourage if it is possible to extend your tour and spend some time in all classrooms and observing the quality and type of teachers if you plan to have your child attend for several years. read more

My son attended Kindercare for almost a year and we're sad to have to leave because of work. He ran into school everyday and didn't want to leave in the evenings. Things I love about Kindercare - very clean and new facility - the teachers are all very caring and nice. At least two parent conferences a year - lots of friends to play with - big outdoor space - special events like performers, jumpy houses, walking distance field trips, visiting animals - they serve breakfast, lunch and snack The only negative aspect is the price - it is one of the more expensive schools, but you get what you pay for. read more

This is a great place. My daughter has been attending here for over 2 years now and we are very happy there. The level of service we get from everyone (director and teachers) is great. Mimi really listens to our concerns and is very accommodating to our needs, she and the teachers have made us feel welcomed since day one. My daughter loves her teachers and we love how nurturing and caring they are. During the 2 years my daughter has been attending I have been able to build relationships with some of the teachers and I trust them enough to even ask them to babysit on weekends when needed. They are not only concerned about my daughter's well being but also our own. In addition, they have a great program, my daughter has learned a lot with them and I have noticed a great improvement in many areas. I recently had a baby and she is going to daycare as well, but since this location does not take babies yet we had to put her in another daycare. It would have been easier for us to just transfer our older daughter to the new daycare, but she did not want to move, that tells us she is really happy where she is. I had enrolled my daughter here when she was 4 and it turned out to be the right choice.. She had a amazing time here in Kindercare. When my son was 1 it was time for me to go back to work and it was a no brainer to return to Bay medows kindercare. He is almost 3 now and we cannot be happier with everything he has learned here. He is also potty trained already. He loves his teachers Ms. Renu,Ms.Savannah and they the are really patient with the kids. Ms. Mimi is very approchable and very supportive.All the staff here very friendly.We are glad that we made the best choice for my kids. I'm writing an update for KinderCare because My oldest son no longer attends. Off to elementary school he went! (with a head start from this place of course!) I want to start off by saying how fantastic the Director Ms. Mimi is. Truly a life saver in my eyes. Twice now I have come to her last minute, and she has always helped me and my kids, no questions asked. My youngest son just started in the Toddler class a few months ago and is doing so great so far. I was a little worried at first because he is my wild child, always getting into trouble and also has a hard time listening. They have helped him adjust so effortlessly and He has already learned so much in such a short time! The teachers and staff are all so loving and caring which I appreciate. My son had never been in a Daycare before so it was very new to him. The staff made this transition so easy and painless (for my son and myself). Drop-off is still a little hard for us both, but I know while my son is here, He receives exceptional care and is as happy as can be! read more

Both my sons attended Kindercare and the younger one is about to "graduate" in late summer to head to Notre Dame Elementary in Belmont for 1st grade (even though by cut-off using date of birth, he would've otherwise been enrolled in kindergarten at the neighborhood school... he got tested for entry into 1st grade by Notre Dame and the proof is in the pudding that he passed with flying colors!) Just thinking of when we will no longer be dropping him off and picking him up from Kindercare and commiserating with the teachers and other parents & kids at the nearby playground makes my husband and me sad -- it really is the end of an era. Ms Mimi and the teachers are great partners to parents -- raising these kids takes a village and having all involved be on the same page about what's important and how to cooperate if course correction is needed (yep, this happens, and sometimes it's just the group dynamics of the kids in their pod but it's important to notice, flag for discussion and work together to address). read more

I am surprised this center is still in business! giving it one star because I have to... I read the yelp reviews, and online reviews about other kindercare centers throughout the US. I never thought that I would be writting a negative one so soon after my experience with them. Please trust your gut with this one, I really wish I should have... I am truly dissapointed, angered, upset, and there has been some serious emotional distress regarding this whole thing, it makes me sick just having to write this... I should have listened to the other reviews, they are right about the child/teacher ratio being wayyy off, and the class always seeming in chaos. I did see one of the teachers on her phone, but maybe she was on a break? I will agree that the teachers seemed nice, but I feel like they could have been a little more amiable with my daughter at drop off, and throughout the day. My poor kid was a MESS at pick up time. Believe me when I say, had I known the condition in which my daughter would be in at pick up time, I would have NEVER dropped her off there. She had paint all over her hands, blood smeared all over her face as if she had a nose bleed and just let her be, without wiping it. okay, so the dirtiness really isn't an issue with me...kids get dirty, that's fine. It was noticing she had soiled herself and them not changing her is what sent me spiraling. I could have dropped kicked someone, I was FUMING!!! I am STILL very very upset by the whole thing. Not only had she had an accident, but it wasn't like her clothes were still soaked, oh no, they were damp, which means she had been sitting in it for a quite a few hours before I came to pick her up. Not only is this disgusting, but it's illegal for a ANY day care, (such as Kindercare, who is also NAEYC accredited, I have no idea how this can be possible) to leave a child in soiled clothes, no matter what their "Potty Policy" may be. I have even taken pictures, because I am truly appalled and confused how the two teachers in the 3's could have missed this. It was very clear that she had soiled herself, she reeked of urine as soon as I was within arms reach (knee level). and the stain that was left on her behind was a very bright yellow. Not only was she a mess, but emotionally I could tell she had a long day of crying because her face looked swollen, she looked scared when I picked her up, I have never seen her act this way which leads me to believe she really had an awful day. I know I'm not the only parent out there that cares about the emotional needs of a child! I felt awful I put her through this! :( Please save yourself the bad experience... I remember about 1 year ago, when searching for a daycare in San Mateo/Foster City, we came across KinderCare.. We went through all available reviews on line for day cares, including Yelp. While reviews here are mostly negative, we decided to give it a chance, considering they had a new administration. 1 year later, our now 2.5 year old son always runs from the car to his classroom, very excited to meet his little friends and spend the day with all the nice and friendly staff. At the end of the day, he always share with us all the fun stuff they did, for example, learning about insects, ladybugs, having fun with the bubble lady, the jumpy house, etc He regularly goes 2 days/week, however, when needed, they can accommodate for him to go 5 days per week. No complains at all. One time he was scratched while playing with another kid.. that happens, and we got a full report of how it happened. No other incidents since then. I was a little bit nervous about the meals. He has never had any stomach problems and based on the reports they feed them very healthy stuff. Every day we're greet by name. My wife and I newly moved to this area. After checking the schools in San Mateo and other areas, we decide to bring our son to this center, which turns out to be the right choice! My son was initially shy and not used to the new environment, but after a few days, he came back and said "I love the teachers here!" He can even start to sing gummy bear and other songs learned in school; and often didn't want to leave when I went to pick him up. I found the staff here very friendly too. The director Ms. Mimi is very sincere, responsive, and gets things done quickly. My wife is very happy about this place, not only the people and facility, even the location is perfect for our family. After interviewing all the options, we are very glad that we made the best choice. read more

My kiddo joined this center in Feb (after staying home for 8+months!) for 2s class. Like other parents, we haven't physically been inside the class but even after joining, teachers took time to show the class room and space. He is very much shy but he found a friend there (lol kids holding hands .. adorable!). There have been times where he wasn't ok to go school, he did cry and teachers told us that he is sad. We realized it has to do with other younger kiddos were bothering him, and teachers did tell us that they are encouraging him to talk to them if someone or something is bothering him - which is great. He is now in 3s class. Some days he is excited go to school and others not but makes sense. I see he is learning - more words, sentences, independently doing things like potty, "clean-up" (with song!) after playing (well not really but hey some days we get lucky!) and more. I think they are great, even if they do mistakes they are learning from it, and humble folks. I can trust them with my son that he is cared for and learning. read more

My daughter started in the toddlers class back in April and although she was apprehensive intially, she now loves going to Bay Meadows KinderCare. As a parent, I am thrilled to see my daughter adjust so well. The teachers care about the children and it shows. My daughter always gives her teacher a big hug in the morning and she's eager to go to daycare to play with her friends. We are very happy with the place. I always pick up my kids happy, clean, they are always busy when I enter the room or playground (which is pretty big and they have different types of bikes there) Teachers are very responding to any parent need or concern either in person or over the phone. During our first 2 weeks I called them every hour to ask how my kids were doing and never met any irritation of being annoying so much. At first I was kinda skeptical about the place as any parent though heard only good reviews from real people, but now I am very happy with my choice. Why I chose the place: breakfast, lunch and snacks, big playground, clean classes, smiling staff :-) And the HUGE fact is that they don't have summer or winter or whatever else breaks other places have and you are in panic trying to find the substitute which was always expensive. read more

My 3 year old daughter loves it!! I took a look at so many preschools and this was the only one I had a good feeling about. Ms Mimi and Ms Ashley really do a great job. They have a very honest, real and loving way to take care of the kids. The food is good and the playing in combination with learning is great for my daughter. They have a great program. Our child attended this daycare 'learning center' and just got so sick all of the time. Not just any sickness, but terrible fevers, discolored mucus and could only get well with antibiotics. After catching different sicknesses for months on end, it's was enough. The hygiene practices at this school don't really exist. The hand soap dispensers were often out of soap, as are the paper towels for the kids to dry their hands. The glass on the doors were streaked with dirty finger prints and marks - - for the "very" expensive tuition, at least they could have the windows wiped clean daily. Kids were allowed to attend school even when they are obviously sick, if they have fevers, runny noses, green slime running from there noses, and often times they will be sick and using their own hands and sleeves to wipe their noses. It no surprise that any sickness any child brings, will rotate to every other child and teacher at the center. Some of the teachers at this location were wonderful and are the highlights of this center. It's a teacher that can make the class great or not. However, the staff changes like the weather. It was hard to get used to one teacher because the next day they'd be gone. Either the corporation doesn't care much for their employees and treats them as ping pong balls or as disposable napkins, or there is a valid reason for the turnover. As if tuition weren't high enough, they have an annual teacher's appreciation week. It's great to honor the staff... but a whole week of buying gifts? They hand out a list of the teacher's favorite gift cards, restaurants, department stores and flowers so you buy them a gift for every day of the week. Mother's day isn't even a week long! Teacher's should be honored, but the corporation itself should go the extra-mile to grant perks and show appreciation for the staff, not try to gouge the parents who are already spending more tuition at this day care center than others in the area. Last, this is a private company, not a public entity. Why are they closed for so many holidays and staff training days? We must pay the same Tuition WEEKLY, no matter if the center is closed during the week or not. If this is a "for profit" business, they should be open, just like any other 'for-profit' business. Gyms are open, restaurants are open, stores are open, but Kindercare finds it acceptable to take your money 'for-profit' and close on every single holiday imaginable. This is NOT a non-profit or a public entity! Meaning, if there's a holiday, there's no pro-rated tuition for the parent's, you still pay for the entire week. For example, in the adult world, our places of work don't celebrate "Columbus Day", so in addition to the weekly tuition, we have to pay a babysitter, in addition, for the day. The worst were the closures for 'staff training'. Can't staff training be done on a weekend, so the parents' aren't affected? What are we supposed to tell our bosses, "I can't come to work because our day care place has a 'Staff Training'"? It's obvious the company does not want to pay overtime to their employees, but would rather inconvenience the parents. The food menu was nice though. A good variety. Rarely ever any fresh fruit, mostly canned fruit. They serve the food and sweep it away so fast, there's seemingly no chance for 'seconds' if a child were still hungry. There was a good daily activity program - - but sadly, mostly overshadowed by the other things. read more

My son just finished attending Kindercare and I must say that I cannot be more happy at the progress he made. A big part of his progress is the incredible staff that is there. They are caring, nurturing, and very positive to all the children. Their guidance is second to none and they have a great way of making kids understand what to do and what not to do. Our son has been attending for nearly a year and started as a three month old. It was a tough transition for all of us but the staff was compassionate and helpful. They really do have an affection for the kids and two of the staff baby-sit for us regularly. I'd recommend this location to anyone. It's really hard work so I thank the staff for all they do to watch over our munchkins. read more

I too agree that the new management has bought a new positive energy that simply was never there with the old management. As for the curriculum, our children have graduated from there and are very well emotionally adjusted and academically confident and competent. These are outstanding traits both their elementary school teachers have stated. Also, even though they are now gone for over three years, they still get so excited to visit and hug specifically Ms. Mimi, Ms Jodie, and Ms Haydet when we are in the neighborhood. The fact that their former teachers are equally excited, remember obscure memories, and know honestly each child's personality quirks to this day, years later attests strongly to me as a parent that they do care about the children they teach. There is a personal relationship between the children and it is genuine. To speak up for the most recent critical reviewer who is totally new to yelp, to my knowledge I have not once witnessed any illegal activity for over 6 years and I would have spoken up first if I did see any. I have always trusted them fully with my kids' safety. Communication goes a long way in whatever school you enroll your children and also simply in whatever stage of life. If you truly want things to change in your preschool or any school you must speak up right then and there not just pull your kids out and yelp it out. My honest review is that my kids must have appreciated the care that they received before they could barely walk, because now they don't walk, they run back into the double doors to visit Ms. Mimi, Ms Jodie, and Ms. Haydet with happy faces. read more

Love everyone there. Kid has been developing at a crazy pace since he joined the daycare. I would see him sitting there reciting the months in a sequential order. Or count to 10 in Spanish. Or sing some kiddie songs. All these before he turned 2. read more

the teachers are decent but seems overwhelmed. Everytime I was there the whole place seemed in a chaos. Would not recommend it.

After trying two daycares in the region, I finally find kindercare! My kid loves it! Me too! The teachers are so caring, patient and help him fully prepared for kindergarten. Class curriculum is well developed. Breakfast and lunch are included. I really hope I had enrolled him earlier. read more
