I have a prescription, Rapaflo, that the insurance companies do not want me taking because the patent expired at the start of this year. When they, the insurance company used in the most general sense possible, peddled me the "generic," it did not work right which led me to not being able to pee and started experiencing pain in anal cavity. Needless to say, I am sensitive about this pill.
The insurance company, and I am using that generally as I have had two of them, makes get signatures from doctors constantly.
I called Bay Pharmacy on Tuesday and Thursday, and they said they needed the doctor to do something. Then, I called and emailed the doctor on Thursday and Friday to ask them to do whatever the pharmacy wants them to do.
The doctor's offices tell me it's going to be 1 to 5 business days, so I call the insurance company and they say it's not true. Just so you understand, this is what I am told:
Pharmacy: Need doctor to do something
Doctor: Need pre-authorization
Insurance: Do not need pre-authorization and do not know why I cannot get it refiled.
THE ABOVE IS NOT A COMPLAINT ABOUT BAY PHARMACY AS IT HAPPENS TO ME ALL THE TIME!!!!!!!!!! How do you resolve it? You yell at everyone until they PICK UP THE PHONE, like they, the medical community at large, should do anyways. I will go on a long rant about this at the end of the post.
I finally get it worked out by having the doctor called Bay Pharmacy and everyone is happy.
START OF MY COMPLAINT AGAINST BAY PHARMACY: I go to pick up my pill and tried to be as discreet about it as possible because I did yell at them. With that said, however, I have no other choice because I am powerless to know the truth BECAUSE IT'S ULTIMATELY OUTSIDE MY CONTROL YET I AM PENALIZED MONETARILY FOR IT.
BB Pharmacy Employee, JJ, who is the most knowledge at that place besides the pharmacist, starts lecturing me on something I know way more about than her. Sure, my situation is extreme! Do I want to fight multi-billion dollar corporations? NO! But I cannot pee, work, or function like a normal person if I do not keep up the good fight.
I told her to quit lecturing me and basically how I am not in control of this situation. She then acts like she is going to make me go to the back of the line, which forced me to start yelling again.
While I am giving them a two out of five because the pharmacist helped me a few times in the past, I think JJ was completely out of line. Obviously, I will not longer be using Bay Pharmacy.
A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THE MEDICAL PROFESSION IN LARGE: They do not communicate at all with each other. When there is a problem, we, the consumer, basically have to figure out what the heck they are talking about, call all the parties involved, and pray you get a competent person. Otherwise, all that money the insurance company takes out of your paycheck is useless; Rapaflo was like a $600 drug for 30 days a few years ago.
I think this quote I developed illustrates the problem well "Barack Obama and Donald Trump agree on literally nothing except that you are ripping me off." While I am not trying to get political, these medical people need to get over themselves and learn that money does not grow on trees.
EDIT: The owner and pharmacist at Bay Pharmacy, Jason Poole, responded to me via message and called me crazy. Is this the kind of guy you want to deal with? I think he should call me crazy in public!
EDITED AGAIN: I never thought I would compare a pharmacy owner to a totalitarian government, but Bay Pharmacy sent the police after me today. Jason Poole thinks employees at Bay Pharmacy can not do their job, talk down to you, walk off while you are talking to them, and you are supposed to take it. read more
