Took my daughter to Bay Play in Oakland and we had a great time! It's a clean, well-designed indoor playground with just the right mix of fun and safe. The moment we walked in, the staff was super friendly and welcoming--made us feel right at home. She had an absolute blast. There were plenty of things for her to climb, explore, and interact with, and I appreciated that the space felt organized but still allowed kids to be kids. You can tell they've put real thought into making it a joyful environment. It's also nice as a parent to have a spot where you can sit back and relax a bit while your little one is totally engaged. We'll definitely be back soon!

It's so exciting to have a new place space in Oakland! I really like the convenience of this place, and it's really big. They have multiple climbing walls and in another freestyle, climbing area a nice bounce house, a small toddler area and then also big climb structure for the children just to run around and get lost then. There are also a ton of arcade games. And I mean a ton! They take up about a quarter of the space and there seems to be a little bit of something for everyone. There is also supposed to be an American ninja style obstacle course, but they were just setting it up the time we went. Hopefully it's up the next time we go. I do like how this place has dedicated toddler hours in the morning and then it's open for all ages thereafter. Overall, I really like this place and felt like there was a lot of great seating for parents and caregivers. I will say that I was not a fan of having all the arcades as soon as you walk through the door. It's definitely distracting for the kids and the kids just really wanna run to that versus wanting to use the obstacle course or the play structure. I would have preferred the arcade games to be a little out of the way maybe towards the back versus the play structure being towards the back. There are also little prizes you can win, but ultimately it's a lot of money. I can get very expensive really quickly with just playing those arcade games. There's also a little cubby place for shoes, and then lockers which it's one set price and then per hour additional dollar. I did take one star off because while this is a play place, it feels more like I would spend a ton of money here because of the way it's set up. So I know every time I go, it's gonna be really hard to convince my kids that they don't need to play any of the arcade games because they're right there and in your face. I do also think the price point is pretty expensive given the place structure size, but I think that it's great that they have the climbing walls and then the ninja obstacle course and hopefully it will all balance out. Food is allowed in here, but I do hope that they actually start selling food as well, which would be really helpful for those parents like me who always forget something. There is tons of parking outside and a dedicated lot as well.

Visited with my 5 year old today and he had so much fun. I wish we had more time to stay but we had an hour to burn and found this place nearby. Super clean, bathrooms at the front and back of the facility and lots of seating available for parents and for rest breaks. Everyone has to take shoes off so be prepared for that, especially given the bathrooms. I'll probably bring crocs next time and keep them on me. Bathrooms have changing tables which is great. The arcade games are so fun and kinda different than regular arcades. We got a $40 card and are considering the membership. We will definitely come back!!

We went to a kids birthday party at Bay Play this weekend and it was so fun! There's so much for kids to do - lots of climbing structures, bounce houses, an arcade, and big slides. The kids were entertained for hours!! Will definitely be back soon.

Is it safe to park in this part of Oakland?

It's safer than some other areas but there is very little parking- literally a few spots and you still have to be careful. Make sure you take plenty of water bc it's incredibly hot and the manager doesn't seem to care.

There's also no elevator, so you'll need to carry your little one up a flight of stairs. Keep this in mind if you're planning a party, especially if anyone in your group has ADA concerns. Entrance is $16 per child for a maximum of 2 hours, and honestly, two hours is more than enough. The space itself is small but perfect for little kids. It feels like they're exploring their own tiny town with all the pretend-play stations: an ice cream truck, spaceship, chef's kitchen, grocery store, laundromat, pet store/groomer, and pizza parlor. They do have a small reading area, but there are little to no books. The play area is padded, which is great for crawling children. I wasn't totally sure how often things are sanitized. There's a basket for toys that need extra cleaning, which made me wonder how frequently everything is actually wiped down if we're asked to set items aside ourselves. Party space is limited to the entrance/hardwood area. I was told the max is 20 adults and about 15 children, but I honestly can't imagine everyone fitting comfortably in that small space. Overall, it's a great spot for my kid to run around and get her wiggles out. She really enjoyed it and that's what matters most.

They have little areas set up for imagination play such as a veterinarian area, a grocery check out area with play food and shopping carts, little play houses, reading nooks, blocks areas, so much to play with and explore. It's so cute to see her figure out all of these play areas. We hung out at the tables in the back and let her enjoy herself with all of the other little kids. I felt totally comfortable there and did not need to worry about my little one, like some of those bigger places get a lot of rowdy older kids. Other notes about the facility: They had coffee, tea and water for free. The bathrooms were clean, especially loved the regular changing tables in there (the foldable ones make me nervous). Socks were $3 for play socks with rubber grips on the bottom. She loved it and we all had a great afternoon. We will come back when in Oakland for another play day.

Lots of pretend play stations with Melissa and Doug or that style of toys - grocery, vet, kitchen -- plus duplo wall, magnatiles, connect 4, a small toddler foam area, and the star of the show, the giant play structure with a swing, slide, and large ball pit. While I understand their policy and did read about it beforehand, I would have appreciated a clearer recommendation during our initial communications. Given the size of my party (and I had extra people I didn't expect to show up come), more time was realistically needed for setup and breakdown, and a heads-up from peek a boo team would have been helpful, as they are the professionals.
