    Sonny angel

My son and I were looking for a Bay Area place that sold Godzilla toys and this came up near the top of the list. The front is pretty unassuming and you would never guess what was beyond the facade. As soon as you walk in it open up into an amazing vintage Japanese setting. You're greeted by a giant pikachu and ultra man along with a few taiko drums. The owner was working and she immediately greeted us. My daughters were interested in Sonny angel so I told them I'd look out for them. The store had it but they were definitely on the pricier side than the $11.50 we were used to. There's a wide variety of different toys and vintage items and we found three full racks of Godzilla stuff. Again they were a little pricey but we managed to walk out of there with a couple of figures. The owner noticed what my son was interested in and gave him a one million dollar Godzilla buck. Awesome place!

For those into Japanese anime and Sanrio characters, come check it out! I lucked out with a Gudetama foldable bag! Too many great finds, you'll probably need an hour or so, I did! Not too much more to say since this is a MUST see kind of place.

Let me just say, ignore the negative reviews below. You can check their instagram which they update whether they'll be open or not on the weekend. If not, give them a call and they'll confirm. That said, this place is a hidden gem as it's located in an alley street in front of FedEx. I took my son and my father who are huge Kamen Rider fans, and we were stuck in the store for over an hour. Very huge selection of vintage figures of any Japanese hero you can think of from 1980s to 2000s that are hard to find nowadays. My son enjoyed it so much, i want to bring him back every month.

How cool is this? So eclectic

I love this place! It's poorly organized and you would never know it was there unless you found it on Yelp or Google Maps. There is no iconic sign over what is essentially a dank warehouse in Emeryville but the treasure within is amazing. If you like Japanese Anime and classic die-cast metal toys, this place is a treasure trove of stuff. Focused more on older toys including used ones than new pieces, they use the warehouse as part of their online eBay business. Their hours are short but if you get the chance and you like those classic anime toys you are in for a treat. This place is so much fun to look through. For an anime fan like myself this was awesome. If anime isn't your thing this place is not for you. But if it is, you have to visit Kimono My House.

Just a small part of the collection

This place is a REAL HIDDEN GEM. Don't be worried about the 1 star reviews, owner was injured for a while and had to keep shop closed for a while. It is back open to the public 1:30-5pm Friday-Sunday! I absolutely love this place and am amazed by the selection of all things Japanimation. Definitely worth checking out if you're looking ti add some really unique stuff to your collection! You wont be disappointed

Immediately, a staff member greeted me and introduced me to a group of people, encouraging me to exchange information with them. I was a bit too shy to join in that night, but I really appreciated the effort. You gotta love a place that goes that far to make a "noob" feel included. During a more recent visit without all the tables of people, it's still a cozy store with a warm and inviting environment. Upon walking in, I could tell the staff genuinely enjoyed being there. As I was browsing, a staff member told me about their puzzle trade. For a few bucks, you can trade the old puzzles you own with a selection of their used puzzles. I'll definitely be making the most of this deal. This is an Oakland gem that I can't recommend enough. If you're looking for a kind and welcoming community, this is a great one. I'll definitely be returning.

I liked seeing part of a shelf that highlighted local California games. Seems like a great community spot as the Friday night had some sort of Magic the Gathering tournament and they were open pretty late. There are around 5-6 folding tables of seating across the store. We spent some time browsing but no staff members approached us. It was a little stuffy inside but better away from the used games in the back. The used games in the back shelves were organized alphabetically -- but it was unclear if they were to play or for purchase The chalkboard has some weekly information of their events

They make you sign a contract so that each time you need to know your balance you must show face in person (so if you move what happens?) we'll, they send you a check to your updated address BUT can't disclose how much it is over the phone LOL I asked for my stuff back and they said NO wow! I'm not able to show in person regularly nor am I willing to continuously update my address nor do they even have my address because I'm private: I have consigned many many places for various hints, jewelry, bags, clothing it's always straight forward. You can see or ask how much you've earned and they pay you period and if you want your stuff back they give it back. The person I spoke with said a lawyer wrote their contract so obviously it's set up legally in a way that makes it difficult for sellers so once they have your belongings it's almost easier to just abandon them there unless you're extremely local with a bunch of free time and no privacy concerns, extremely predatory and I'm going to look into my rights .
