It's pretty unusual for a woman to be leaving a review for a Barber Shop, but I need to tell you about Bay Ridge Barbershop! My son was home for the holidays and asked me if I knew of any "good barber shop that give good fades". I searched for 'Best Fades near me" thru Yelp and found Bay Ridge Barber Shop. I made a last minute appointment via text with Justin, and found an availability right away. Once there, it wasn't long until we were given service by Vito. The place was bright, clean and very relaxing. More importantly, Vito was very professional, courteous, and welcoming. He did such an awesome job for my son's haircut, while informing him what types of fades and style would look best, proportionate to his head shape and profession. He had a hot towel service too! I'll definitely recommend my other sons to him and his crew! The price is pretty decent and straight forward. Waited over half an hour for a haircut. Barber has a guy in his chair, but is going outside back and forth and taking forever with the guy in his chair. About 20 minutes into waiting, a woman walks in with her kid and sits down. The guy in the chair is finally finished, and it is only at this point the barber tells me the woman is ahead of me because she has an appointment. By the way, this is the first time he acknowledged that I'm even there. Go support another barber, this place is no good. read more

Made a last minute impulsive decision to come to Bay Ridge cuts to have my shaggy beard shaped. I was in the neighborhood having my BMW serviced and had some time to kill. I was very impressed on the cleanliness of the place. The barber chairs were amazing as it can be converted from a hair cut chair to a shaving chair by reclining. I continue to come here and sat in Boris' and Edgar's chair. They're both superb with their own flow. Boris will knock out the style quickly. Edgar is methodical and very detailed. Both will ask you questions during the cut for feedback and provide you a great looking haircut in the end. Extremely happy I'm comfortable with options in these two barbers next time I visit. If you're like me, visiting the barber shop is not only time-consuming but a chore. Between work, school, and more work it is difficult to justify spending any amount of time that consists of neither studies, work or drinking. When I first walked into Bay Ridge Barber Shop, I wasn't expecting much. A typical Brooklyn barber shop, perhaps. I was mostly glad they did not have a name like "Hot Phadez", or "High Fade-Z", etc. A place where I can go and not expect to leave being "cut like a razor blade" (hat tip to Vanilla Ice) Vito has been a constant savior of mine since my first cut here a few months ago. A haircut and shavette razor shave for 20$! (I always leave at least a 5$ tip on top of that). He has taken me in as a Wolverine lookalike and scaled me back to a well-groomed pedigree. With each swipe of the blade, or snip of the blades his perfectionist nature shines through whatever dead-animal I have growing on my head since my last visit and turns me human again. I've had all positive experiences at Bay Ridge Barber shop, except for one. On a Wednesday evening, I went there to get a cut. It wasn't the cut I intended to receive though - concern fell over me as my barber that day made a concerned "oh shit" expression, then shuffled off to the back room and came back with a bottle of something. He dabbed it on my neck, and I quickly realized there'd been some battle damage back there. Long story short, I returned about a week later to find he'd been fired. Not only that, other customers were also fortunate enough to get 'a cut' from him during his brief stint of a hack and slash haircut campaign. I understand mistakes happen, but it's good to know BRBS runs a tight ship and doesn't stand for that kind of rubbish. Still the #1 Barber Shop in the Ridge when you get the cut you came for. Getting a new barber is not an easy decision, and it is one I dread. It can drastically improve or decrease your quality of life. That being said, changing to Sal at BRBS was a drastic improvement. I was going to my normal lady down the street who cuts my hair. When I got there they told me she was on vacation. I couldnt wait for her to get back, so I took a chance and went to Bay Ridge Barbershop. I am happy i did so, it worked out well, and I have been back 3 or 4 times since. Sal cut my hair. I was very specific with him, I didnt want the normal Bay Ridger Leased Mercedes-Benz Cafe Reme haircut. I have had that done to my hair in the past, and I hid myself like a lepper for a week. Sal did a great job, and gave me a professional haircut. He straight razored my neck and did the warm towel thing. It was awesome. Sal listen to what I wanted, and his execution was flawless. Got a hair cut by a guy named Boris, first let me say I don't know if it was his clippers or his hands but something smelled horrible while he was cutting my hair. This barbershop doesn't not know what service is, that is a fact.Little guy in the shop cut my hair in about 10 minutes wow. .didn't even ask for feed back or ask if everything was OK. At the same time the other barber in the first chair couldn't stop bragging about how much $$ he has and how many cars etc.. If you are skeptical about switching to a new barber from your old one, this is your place. I have never felt so satisfied with a haircut, not even from any of the haircuts I got from my old barber. I had to switch from my old barber, because I have been a customer for over 4 years, and I think they thought I could tolerate some bad service lately and worse-- a rushed haircut. I was nervous about switching my old barber and didn't know what to expect. I always had a hard time to describe what I always wanted for a haircut, and when Boris heard my uncleared expectations, he just knew and said: " just leave it to me, you are going to look good." and he wasn't kidding. I really could tell he was paying attention to details while cutting, and he was decently fast(NOT RUSHED). I ended my haircut with very clean and perfect length tape up, without feeling any residue of hair on my neck or forehead. The ambient was comfortable and some amenities(water, TV, GUMBall, GREAT couches). My only compliant was that the stations needed some sweeping(hopefully it was due to a busy time of the year) and they just need to brush a bit the razors after switching out customers. Nevertheless, these are no reason for not coming back and worth the distant travel (as compared to walking distant from my old barber). Highly recommend this place, and Boris! read more
