    Sunrise from my room.

Lovely Bed and Breakfast! I went for a solo weekend away and it was a beautiful space, amazing breakfast and great conversation. I hope to come back with my kiddos one day!

By far, one of the best stays I've had in Virginia! The hosts made my family and I feel at home and welcome to their beautiful estate. The estate is incredible with an amazing waterfront view and a warm fire pit on the water's edge. Additionally, the bedrooms were spacious, clean and extremely comfortable! Breakfast was amazing and our compliments to the chef! The hosts provided wonderful recommendations for evening dinners and activities/site seeing locations in the local area. The hosts were friendly, engaging and accommodating to every need/request we inquired. I can't wait to come back and stay at this beautiful place! Thank you for making my family and I feel at home and cared for! Kevin!

5 reasons why I would recommend everyone I know to stay at Bay Tree Manor: 1. Location, Location, Location.... We were looking for a place right on the bay with a dock with a private resort like experience in a b&b.... We didn't think it was possible or it existed, but it does and the views won't disappoint. 2. Hospitality... Paige and Mark are wonderful hosts. They truly care about their guests and getting to know you. They make you feel like family. 3. Upgraded amenities.... They haven't skipped the quality on anything. From the plush beds that make you want to never get out of bed, to the sea salts for the bath and the plush towels and toiletries. You find the quality you don't always find at 5 star hotels. 4. Food.... We stayed two nights and our breakfast both days was delicious! There was so much food we skipped lunch both days! 5. Perfect place if you just want to get away from it all. We took full advantage of everything they had to offer. We went crabbing from the pier, took the kayaks out and laid by the pool. We have stayed at over 10 b&bs and this was by far our favorite. We travel a lot and you can't beat the views from the rooms and the hospitality you will get here. Way to set the bar high!!!! Looking forward to our next stay!

A breathtaking view... I could sit here for days!

This was our first experience with a bed and breakfast and I'm not sure if any others will ever match up. We were greeted by Paige who was warm and friendly... I felt like I had just arrived at an old friends house. She was welcoming and hospitable. Moments after were arrived we had a drink in our hand and a delicious appetizer on its way. The bed was very comfortable and the view was amazing! Peace and quiet... I could have stayed here for days. Breakfast was delicious! I was stuffed but kept on eating because it was so good. I will definitely be going back to Bay Tree Manor!

I feel so strongly about sharing my recommendation to stay here that this is my first-ever (and possibly only) Yelp review. The rooms, property, restaurant quality food, and service were impeccable. Sherry, Ridge, and Sara are so kind and will go above and beyond to ensure you have the best stay, even communicating months in advance to see if we had any requests. The unlimited ice cream and snack bars, speakeasy and all-seasons room were our favorite amenities, but the list is plentiful. Our room had a private patio with firepit, heated bathroom floors, a soaking tub, and so much more. It was beyond clean and comfortable! The icing on the cake: they are pet-friendly, and even provided organic dog treats to our corgi. We came in March for my birthday (they gave me flowers, a note, and a gift) and are already planning a trip back in the summer to utilize the heated pool, kayaks, bikes, and other outdoor activities. A must-see for a relaxing getaway or event, just a short drive to the charming town of Mathews. Thank you to our hosts for a fantastic weekend!

Our room was pretty and the sleep number bed was sooo comfortable. I think there is only one room available so not appropriate if you have a group. It is just over a mile to the beach but it was unfortunately too cold and rainy to really enjoy it. On the property there is a well lit path through the forested area that surrounds the house to a nearby marshy waterway. Nice scenery. Lots of plants, flowers and green space surround the house. I saw a hummingbird flitting around the yard! What a bonus!! There were some shops and restaurants for dinner a few miles away but we ventured further to Gwynn Island and had delicious food, especially the shrimp and crabcake, at Hole In The Wall which has a great view over the water. It was cloudy the whole time we were there but on nights with clear skies I'm sure the star gazing is epic. You definitely feel like you are out in the country. You order your breakfast the night before so that what you want for breakfast is ready when you choose. I loved having a dip in the outdoor (but under the front porch roof) hot tub before heading to bed. There are several steps up to the front porch and to the guestroom itself so if you have mobility issues it is something to consider. Breakfast was hot, delicious and beautifully served right on time. We really enjoyed ourselves and hope to stay here again sometime. On a side note there is a cool old cemetery nearby that includes headstones dating back to the mid-1800s if you are in to that kind of history. We found it very interesting.

We were booked into the inn by a client who wanted to make our first visit to Suffolk a memorable one. The home is a true Southern belle - a grand dame of historic mansions. It has been so lovingly restored and is perfectly appointed. We had so much fun exploring every inch of the home and absorbing its character. The proprietor (and very talented chef) Ruth has mastered the art of hospitality, inviting us to truly make the home our own. She didn't mind one bit that we planted ourselves in the reclining leather chairs in the stately octagonal library with another couple and yakked enthusiastically until the wee hours. After a blissful night sleep, breakfast the following morning was a marvelous affair. We prepped a coffee for ourselves at the Nespresso machine (fantastic!) and meandered around the grounds until the heavenly smell of baking croissants lured us to the elegant, light-filled breakfast room. Usually an eat-and-run proposition for us, we lingered for over an hour enjoying the delectable food and the conversation with the other guests. The charm of the house and its gracious owner had worked its magic - we were refreshed, satiated and inspired. We departed with great reluctance but the spirit of the Truitt house hung about us for the rest of the day and onto the next as we traveled home. You do not want to miss this unique and unforgettable travel experience - 5 gold stars!!!

The mansion, built long ago, has been restored and updated in every category. I've stayed at lots of B&Bs to find them "charming but in need of modern updates." This place has that without losing its original charm from 1909. Because I'm here for work, I'm purposely spending all my time at the house when not on location and I love to be able to move from study to library to the atrium and other rooms in order to read and for a change of atmosphere. Every room is unique and has a story. You'll love Ruth who will make your stay feel like you've come home to the family estate. Breakfast is made to order and she loves knowing what you like. Casual and comfy. Two words to describe the experience in this amazing, palatial mansion.
