We are pleased with our room at Bay Valley resort. However, Heatherfields, the onsite restaurant just served us one of the worst meals I've ever had. Never in my life have I refused to pay for a meal until today. We ordered the brussels sprouts as an appetizer, and when they came out, they were almost raw. After sending them back, they put them in the deep fryer and returned them to us dark brown and overcooked, dripping with grease. We were with a very large group of people and the same thing happened to another person's order of brussel sprouts. We all sent them back a second time and removed them from our orders. We then waited for our fish and chips and fish tacos, hoping to have a better experience. For the fish tacos, they took a flour tortilla, added a finger-sized peice of breaded fish, much like a fish stick I got in my grade school lunch, added some sauce and sprinkled on a little bit of cabbage.It was very little fish and mostly breading. My partner's fish and chips were the same, very thin layer of fish and a lot of breading. The fries were soggy, the potato chips that came with the taco tasted of grease and left a film in my mouth. Most of the people at our table refused to finish their fries and chips for the same reason. Many unsatisfied customers. I do have to say they were very busy and we had a very large group, but we waited over two hours to finally get our food. It was ridiculous! The wait staff bent over backwards to get everybody their food and drinks and were very hard workers. The manager understood our complaints and we did not pay for our bill, but I would recommend staying at the hotel while avoiding eating at Heatherfields at all costs. read more

Terrible experience on Mother's Day 2026. It took us 2-hours to complete our meal. 35 minutes to get coffee. I ended up getting the coffee from the hotel coffee bar. The waitress that had the gull to admit she was the manager and seemed aghast that we asked for silverware. Once four of us got our food we had no silverware. 90 minutes to get silverware. The other two with us it took another 15-20 minutes to get their food. If you are interested in going to dine at Bay Valley you better hurry. One of the worst experiences we ever experienced at a restaurant. The prediction is they won't make it until July 2026. read more

There is great potential once renovations are complete. In the meantime, it's just ok. Our room was clean, ice maker on our floor was broken. The bar closed on a Friday night at 10. The "included breakfast" consists of coffee and a waffle maker. We planned on spending Saturday evening at the restaurant on site but couldn't because it was closed for a private event. We were not told about this earlier in the day, nor was there signage to indicate it would be closed later. Disappointing. read more

Easter brunch was beyond disappointing for my family. There were no plates out when we got there, we ended up taking some from the omelette station, 2 of us never got our drinks and the waiter blamed others for the oversight, 2 other people in our party received coke without ice (?), all the food was cold and dried out, disappointing for $50 a plate, it seemed to be the first day on the job for the waitstaff, the restroom was still under construction, with boxes everywhere (?!), and they added 20% gratuity since we were a party of 6! Awful! At least one family that arrived after us decided to walk out, I wish we had too. we had a great experience. it is only 7 minutes from SVSU. Sitting poolside was the perfect way to spend the afternoon post football game. Bay valley has and indoor / outdoor pool that is fantastic. The resort is undergoing renovations . I look forward to the seeing the updates. read more

Had drinks in the bar only. I did not stay here. (I used to work here when it was brand new 48 years ago. It was THE place. Not so much anymore.) The bar does not have draft beer. No taps. I asked for Grey Goose. No Grey Goose. How about Patron...NOPE. This would not be a bad neighborhood bar, but it is in a hotel/golf course "resort". And the bar does not look a whole lot different than almost a half century ago. With it's lovely entrance and the very nice lobby, it's looks more than it is. So much potential, just a waste. The resort needs everything. It's worse than a Motel 6. It's dated, built in the 70's and looks like it hasn't been updated since. The towels are like sand paper and staff is hard to find. My shower head was falling for, spraying water all over the bathroom. Overall, I would never stay there again. read more

Think this will be my last time staying here! More and more run down. Pool is closed for renovations- but do they tell you that ? No. The lounge had a 2 man band on Friday- from 6-9 pm. Really cut off at 9?. Saturday night you could have shot a cannon thru the lounge-and only injured about 4 people. Elevator probably should be closed for renovations also . Kind of scary. They do offer free breakfast- bacon, sausage, eggs, waffles, orange juice, fresh fruit and lots of breakfast sweets. Upon check in you also receive two $4 drink tickets per room. read more

Rooms were old n musty, the whole place was. We have a big family, and when paid for, all was well-kid to adult ratio for them as told on the phone. We get there and they said it was too many and considered a "party" therefore I wasted my time, my money and the younger kids were mad not knowing what was going on. So, if you have a large family or any kids w speical needs, DO NOT GO HERE. They will kick you out for some unforeseen reasons w no refund at all and rude about it. read more

I feel like one star is justifying it, would give zero if possible. I would avoid this place a plague. Really old building but that's doesn't bother me. Stay for a night, looking for a last minute room. ( where I f'd up, not planning ahead). Just a run down in my 12 hour stay. No Wi-Fi, even though it's advertising. TVs have a limited selection, they literally got HD cablebox from Walmart ( so I got the basic of channels). Breakfast is offered but it's literally ONLY Quaker granola bars and muffins. Old hotel sorely in need of an update. The grounds were cluttered with construction equipment from the highway project next door, Room was small and had a funky "musty / rotting something" odor. Carpet was filthy, way past just needing cleaned. Bathroom sink drained very slowly, if at all, but only after spraying you with water from the faucet with a missing aerator. Shower head at about shoulder lever, I had to get on my knees to was my hair, and I'm only 5'11". Mattresses looked and felt like it was original to the facility. There was a group having a good time somewhere, as we could clearly heard the music and the festivities through the paper-thin walls, at least until 3:00 AM. when someone walked down the hall screaming for "Security". I could go on, but you get the point. Bottom line, we had booked 2 nights, but checked out first thing the second morning and found a Hampton 30 minutes away. We recently stayed here for the USS Edson DD 946 Reunion and had a wonderful stay and agree with fellow Yelper Nicola I. It does have a Winchester Mansion feel to it with all different levels. The bar was like an old tavern cozy and comfy like and reasonable drink prices and the bar food was quite good. Our reunion banquet was very good. If we ever come back to this area we'll definitely stay here. read more

Stayed here as an overnight for a tournament. Mediocre would be charitable. The hallways and public areas were very cold. The bar was nice and we did have a good time there. But we were there to save an early morning wake up and long drive. Given the state of the rooms, we'd have been better off with the drive. The layout of the place is a disaster. Inconsistent room numbers with little flights of stairs everywhere. Carrying luggage and bowling equipment up and down was a major PITA. The rooms look like they haven't seen an update in 30 years. Dingy. Minimal lighting. Antique heating system. Even the TVs looked like mid 90's tubes with attendant picture quality. The shower was also a treat. The shower head was less than 5' off the floor. Quite a challenge for people of even average height. A lot of this would have passed off as quaint or quirky if the beds were even average. They weren't. They were very low to the ground. So low that most adults had the impression of stepping up to get out of bed. Moving on to the mattress. If you are a fan of worn out bouncy, non supportive, bedding this might be the place for you. For the 16 families in our party, it wasn't. One of the beds even collapsed. Not one person mentioned a good nights sleep. I recall staying here 30 years ago for a golf outing. The memories were positive. This stay was a complete disappointment. They are renovating the pool so someone is trying to upgrade the place. If they don't do something about the rooms it will be wasted money. read more

Do I have to give this place a star rating? Yuck, yuck, yuck! I refused to take of my shoes in the room for fear of catching something from the carpet. The waitress at the bar sucked, she was rude and much more interested in flirting with the single guys at the bar than taking our order at the table. Getting to our room we took several wrong turns, this place was SO confusing and all the stairs reminded me of a Stephen King novel. I stayed at the "resort" for a wedding. It is seriously dated. The room was old and worn. Old carpet, stained towels, mattress held together with duck tape and VERY OLD AND UNCOMFORTABLE, dusty, non functioning TV, and not very clean. The banquet dinner was tasty, however, the service was extremely poor. Dirty dishes and glasses stayed on the table for three hours after the meal was over. The outdoor scenery is nice. The facility needs a physical and service makeover starting with new mattresses and pillows. read more

We were here for a wedding this past summer. All was wonderful except one VERY IMPORTANT thing. The food. It was absolutely delicious! But. It was cold. Like really cold. By the time we went through the buffet line, most of the pans were empty. Besides the fact we waited for over 5 minutes for a staff to refill any of them (which is absolutely unacceptable), they came out of the kitchen cold! Like they were just taken from the fridge! We were so disappointed. If I were the bride, I'd be demanding my money back. When I addressed to her the problem, she agreed that her food was cold too and that she'd be looking into it. I'd leave 0 stars if I could!!!! Terrible place! We had our wedding reception planned there, but due to covid we had to delay it in 2020. Before we delayed it let me tell you! Some of the food was undercooked at the tasting! Terrible! So then we had to cancel our postponed date for this year because we still thought travel was ill advised for ourselves and many of our guests (some of which overseas) and we were told we could get a refund for our deposit. Let me tell you that's a NOPE!!! You get $0 back and then blamed cause oh we were open and you could have had your wedding even though restrictions were just lifting when we cancelled. And the worst part!? It took 3 months to find out we couldn't get our refund!!! Not a couple days...not a week...3 months!!!!!! Unacceptable!!!! And the parking lot looks ghetto and not maintained well at all!!! Do not trust these people with your wedding reception! read more

Just stayed here last night. The beds are old and broken down. There is a wood bench in the room that has paint chipping off so bad that it got all over anything that rubbed up against it. The room had a horrible musty smell. The pillows are flat and had to request new ones. The only upside to this place was the staff at the desk. read more

I recently stayed at this hotel for a ridiculously low price. Yes, the decor is extremely outdated (I jokingly referred to the place as "Falcon Crest"-- as it seems like the set of a late 70s soap opera/ porn). However, despite that the grounds are gorgeous-- my room overlooked a pond on the golf course, there are lovely trees and landscaping. The bed was surprisingly comfortable. Most importantly, the place was IMPECCABLY CLEAN. The rooms have free wi-fi and cable. There is a delightful pool and jacuzzi that is also CLEAN (I witnessed it being cleaned several times during my stay!). The fitness room could use a much needed update (most of the cardio machines don't work). The continental breakfast is on par with most other hotels (like Holiday Inn, etc.). However, what IS NOT on par is the service-- the customer service at Bay Valley was wonderful. The staff was always friendly and nice and extremely accommodating (I requested a very late check out on a Sunday). A simple billing mistake was made and immediately rectified with apologies. The bar/ restaurant is convenient and the waitstaff was also VERY friendly and efficient (and honestly, I was surprised at how reasonable the prices were for a hotel restaurant. The potato skins are really really good, the cobb salad is huge!). I think for the discounted rates of this hotel, it's a great place to stay. If you want a high-end, luxury, hotel... this is not it. But I had a MUCH nicer stay here, at a much cheaper rate, than I did at the local Sheraton 4 Points. I would stay again! read more

This hotel/resort looks good from the outside but inside it is dirty and dated. The windows are so dirty that they look foggy..sheets are so thin that you can see the mattress, no exhaust in the bathroom. The slider is nailed shut so there is no emergency exit. DO NOT STAY HERE.... While staying at the hotel, we experienced several issues. We tried to talk to the front desk personnel and could never find anybody until we checked out. When we started to explain our issues, we heard "I am just a fill in and can't do anything about it. Here is the Hotel Manager's card." I called the hotel manager and she apologized and said the General manager would get back to me. A week went by and nothing. My wife called the Hotel and was told the District Manager was on Vacation and that we had to wait until that person came back. But still nothing. There was construction going on inside of the hotel while we were there, so it appears they are trying to "rebuild" the facility... Here's a tip, START WITH YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! read more

This used to be such a nice place, many years ago. Now, I would not recommend it at all. Our rooms were on the first level facing the parking lot and construction. The first thing we notice was the smell. Musty, old smoke smell. In the rooms and also in the hallways. Then, no refrigerator (that was an extra $10!). Then when we came back from an evening event, my friend's sliding door was open. She closed it but the lock was broken. After waiting for almost an hour for someone to come to fix it, a maintenance guy showed up after midnight with no shirt on and a long pony tail. Needless to say, she didn't let him on and blocked the door shut with a chair. Then the breakfast the next morning was pretty bad. Paper plates, plastic silverware, and styrofoam cups. Worst coffee ever. The shower temperature ranged from scalding hot to cold, all within a few seconds. The doors at the end of the hallways to the outside were damaged at the bottom with huge gaps directly to the outside. We wondered what little creatures came in during the night. My husband and I had our wedding reception at Bay Valley in June and it was an absolutely wonderful experience! Working with Katie made the planning process very easy and straightforward. The entire staff was extremely helpful and accommodating. They really made us feel welcome and worked to make our big day as stress-free and enjoyable as possible. Our wedding was a little non-traditional, so flexibility was very important to us. The Bay Valley staff definitely delivered in that respect, as well. We really could not have asked for a more enjoyable venue. I highly recommend Bay Valley if you're looking for a reception venue in the Tri-Cities. read more

I stayed here 1 night and will not return. The rooms look like they're out of the 80's. The bed was worn out, carpet was worn out, tube tv (who thought those still existed!) didn't work, and the whole hotel smelled really musty and a mix of you grandmas perfume. I was also told the continental breakfast went until 10:30 but when I got there at 10 everything was cleaned up already. The only thing nice was the surrounding area and it being on a golf course. I booked the room through Hotwire and when I got there they couldn't find the reservation so I had to pay again and get double charged for the night (I do give them credit they refunded my card in the morning when they finally saw the reservation without any issue) I could have stayed at the super 8 for $20 night cheaper and they have updated rooms with a flatscreen tv, refrigerator, and a microwave in each room too. They really need to update this hotel and bring it into the 21st century. Do yourself a favor and stay anywhere but here until they update this place if they ever do. read more
