Golf course is decent, facility is very nice. Only drawback is the food quality. They need to pony up and hire a Professional Chef. It's amazing how they continue to hire line cooks that have no ability in making a decent meal. read more

My wife and I golfed here as a birthday gift to me. What an amazing course! Everything from the tee boxes to the greens were pristine and the staff were all helpful and friendly! We went on a Monday morning so there weren't too many people out, but that just allowed us to take in all the course had to offer. We also had lunch in the adjacent club restaurant and that was also pleasant friendly and served quickly. Definitely recommend!!! read more

We were here for a wedding and from the very beginning it was a mess because of the venue and management. The food for the rehearsal dinner was an abomination. We had to ask for our salad after half the people were served. They provided barbecue chicken, fried potatoes, and 1/2 corn on the cob. The chicken was dryer than a day old French baguette. The potatoes came out of a bag and were still cold. The corn was also served cold. We were locked out the building during the ceremony and not allowed back in after having paid to have access to said building. We had items we needed to get from the building and it was like pulling teeth to get access back into the building. I would not recommend hosting any type of event here. read more

For a small town like Freeland, Apple Mountain is an impressive little place. Great spot for weddings or corporate events. The skiing hill is not super impressive, but given the flat terrain in Mid-Michigan it gets the job done. The best part of Apple Mountain is definitely the golf course. Very impressive. read more

I would give 0 stars if I could. This place is ridiculous! We're currently having a wedding ceremony, spending thousands of dollars, and after the manger of the restaurant, which was supposed to be our central location for the wedding party to meet directly after the ceremony, decided to lock us out. He then told us that we were not renting out the restaurant so we could not come in. On top of it all, we had our rehearsal dinner here. The food was god awful! We had better food at the bar we went to after to enjoy ourselves. Talk about poor customer service! The food was laughable. The only time I ever had chicken that dry was in jerky form. Don't have your wedding here! read more

We had our wedding in the Chapel Sept. 15, 2018! Honestly, our experience wasn't too great when it started out. My dad and I set up a consultation and the coordinator literally just handed us a price list and wouldn't talk. When we asked questions about anything, she said "I don't know." I had later decided we wanted to get married here so I tried to reroute dealing with this person again by leaving a voicemail discussing my situation to a manager, but ultimately got sent back to her. I was not thrilled. About 3 months prior to my wedding, I had called to just make sure everything was still a-go. I had ended up talking to Michelle and she took over our wedding for us after I explained the situation and I thought that was very nice of her! As the day got closer, we talked a lot more. For our rehearsal, we set up and was able to keep our stuff there over night. However, I had called and asked for the porch and the sidewalk to the chapel be cleaned before our wedding the next day and was told "Oh yes we will do it in the morning before anyone arrives." Then it never happend, so there was wood chips and grass on the carpet in the chapel for my wedding. NOT impressed. In the chapel itself, it needs to have some of its general decor updated. For as many weddings as that place has, the carpet needs to be UPDATED. The stage's carpet is literally tattered and unraveling. The little bench/altar type thing, needs to be repainted. There are old marks on it from things hanging on it and being ripped off. Overall it wasn't an overly great experience but our wedding ended up turning out beautifully! This place was awesome. We did skiing with the Groupon and rented equipment- totally worth it! There's hills for beginners and bigger ones too. Plenty of snow despite this being a light winter for MI. One of the hill patrol employees, Cindy, was super nice and helpful, taking photos of my bf and I for us (we were celebrating my bday) and giving us a couple of pointers. I came to Apple Mountain Golf Club not for the skiing but for the restaurant with my boyfriend's family. The food was very good when we finally did get it. The wait staff could have been better but hell....it was Christmas!! I didn't care how slow they were, Everyone was in a great mood and the meal was being served and not being made by ME! John and his sister had great stories of their younger days skiing here and it was fun listening to them while we ate. I hope we go back again so that I can re-review this restaurant. read more

I don't have anything to say about the golf or ski offerings, but Apple Mountain serves as a cute place for a wedding reception. The scenery is pretty, and guests are free to walk along the grounds, which is nice in the summertime. The food is wedding-caliber food, but salt and pepper can make things a bit better. The bar offered Oberon on tap, which, if this is a regular thing, is wonderful! If you're looking for a venue out in Saginaw for a wedding, or for a going-away party, or whatever, give Apple Mountain a look. read more

Every time I go to an event here the last few years, each time it's a little bit more down hill. Outdoor wedding? Seriously, for years their pavilion sound system has been terrible. And that's being charitable. If you don't mind your music sounding like it's being played on a 1940's system, and cutting out every now and them, and having your celebrant's voice cutting out and fading in and out, then you will be happy going here for your outdoor wedding. If you'd rather have a place with a good sound system, this is not the venue for you. Every time I go to an outdoor wedding here, I am stunned that they haven't repaired it. As for their wedding food, you are much better off sticking with plated meals, which are far tastier than their buffet. Their buffet chicken is dried and rubbery. The food is very often cold. But I've always had nice plated meals. It use to be a nice place for showers, but after a recent experience I have crossed them off my list for our next family shower. The service was inadequate, and what they served for lunch was barely a snack. It was a tiny sandwich and a mini cup of soup served on a gigantic plate. It looked pathetic. If they would have just tossed on a few chips and a pickle it wouldn't have looked so sad. We all went home after the shower and ate lunch because we were still hungry. That is not good. At one time, this was a reliable place to have an event. Sadly, not so anymore. I hope they make improvements. It's a beautiful place and I would love to add them back to my list of venues. read more

My husband and I choose Apple Mountain for our wedding ceremony and reception after viewing 6 or more venues in a short period of time. After meeting with Abbe we knew this was the right place for us! She was extremely down to earth and friendly, making us feel comfortable and at ease about this big decision. At our second meeting, Abbe made sure to fill in any questions we forgot to ask and continually brought up extra ideas or added on to our current plans to make things easier. She was amazing throughout the whole process, I will recommend Abbe to any and every one! The day of our wedding... Success! We did not use the chapel, as that was not the type of ceremony we were having, instead we chose the Fountain Room. We had plan to have the ceremony outside, with the option of inside if the weather was bad... and it was. The staff was on top of everything, making sure to take down all of the outside set-ups and get the inside ready. Our ceremony went smoothly causing our timetable to be a little to quick, the amazing staff made sure to move up our dinner as much as possible. The extra touches the wait staff did made us and our guests extremely happy. More than one person commented to us they were impressed and would definitely let others know how great everything was there. I would recommend Apple Mountain, Abbe, and their staff to anyone interested in a great location, venue, and atmosphere!!! Thank you for making our "best day ever" amazing!!! read more

I gave an extra star for improvement over my last visit a year ago when the Chef just wasn't up to the challenge. This time around the Chef did a better job and it was obvious that the kitchen was using fresh ingredients for their dishes. My only negative comment would be that that the Chef cooks with a heavy hand. Personally I would lighten up on what is put on the plate. That is a personal preference and my opinion may not be shared by all. The Ravioli pasta although not bad at all could have been served al dente for more authenticIty. The apple dessert with ice cream was nice. Once again let me say this visit was much improved over the last. Our young server ( young lady) did a great job of looking after us. The restaurant manager was attentive and the Hostess was welcoming and friendly. Chef.......keep it going ! I would suggest having the owners send you to Italy for short cooking module which would be great for your personal development and for the restaurant as well. read more

Our family recently had an Irish Wake for my Grandpa at Apple Mountain. Of course, it was planned with little notice, but they were very accommodating and helpful to get it organized, and we were able to do it all over the phone. We did a three hour bar package with some appetizers. The staff service was wonderful and the evening was the perfect ending to a long, hard day. Grandpa would have loved it! read more

I don't know where to begin. My bf and I went there to celebrate our anniversary and from the staff to the terrible food I am not sure which was worse. It was jokingly said to me I was a "hooker" for the night by the waitress and although I laughed it off I was appalled. When we arrived there were only 2 other tables seated and this was around 7:30 PM. After we were given the very hard to read menus with insane prices we figured since it was considered "fine dining" the food would blow our tastebuds out of the water. About 15 minutes after arriving, a table of 4 was seated. It was clear the waitress Pam felt she needed to cater to the business after hours dinner meeting than my bf and I. It took 45 minutes to take our order for an $18 perch dinner which would include a starch (he chose mashed potatoes), cole slaw, and mixed veggies. We added a Swiss onion soup to share and I ordered the Duck dinner which I also added the mashed potatoes too. We were offered a salad which we chose the bacon and bleu and when asked if we wanted crumbled blue cheese we of course opted for it but were not told of an up charge. It took nearly another hour to receive what was at best buffet microwaved food that was not even hot. The duck was rubber from the inside out and there was not even one shred of crispness. The mashed potatoes clearly came from a instant bag and looked like a pancake on the plate. The veggies were some cross between julienne and chopped and way undercooked. The only thing hot on either plate was the fish. The other 4 top table had already finished their dinner by the time we received ours. When I said the duck was cold and like rubber she grabbed my plate and brought out another pancake of potatoes sans veggies and the perch which I replaced for the duck and my bf never did get his cole slaw. This is clearly not a fine dining establishment and I would recommend stay far a clear from this place...it will break your wallet and a McDonalds meal has better quality. read more
