It's a very subpar and old hotel. It needs a complete upgrade, outside and inside. An outdated lobby, many things did not work or were broken. Slashed lamp shades; not enough bathroom supplies; empty kleenex box; the smoke/carbon dioxide device was hanging off the ceiling - not sure if it even worked? I could go on with the problems. There was a nice hotel staff behind the desk though. We never even got our wake up call. I will never revisit this place. read more

This hotel is very good for the price. We paid $113 last night. The room was spacious with an upgrade to a Jacuzzi tub. It was a bit noisy when we went to sleep our floor, air conditioner compressor cycled on and off and a bit of street noise And slamming doors early in the evening but I use my RainRain app from my phone and drowned it out for the most part. We rise early and the coffee was made a machine that has hot water, decaf, regular bowl, selections, and even iced selections, then paying some serious money for hotels driving across country, so I was happy to find this bargain. read more

Hotels like this Baymont make our life on the road so much more comfortable and easier. As a traveling band we value being able to get a good nights sleep very highly. This Baymont is in a great location of Lawrence and only a few minutes drive to downtown where we played that night. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were spacious, clean, modern and comfortable. We really liked that they had a washer and dryer (you don't need quarters either a card will work) so we could freshen up on the road. The breakfast was plentiful and had a good variety. We would absolutely recommended this hotel to anyone staying in Lawrence. At nearly $80 per night for a motel in the seediest part of Lawrence, Kansas, I was not overly impressed. The front desk clerk was extremely helpful, friendly and professional - a good start. However, the room was very basic, relatively clean and the wi-fi and cable worked just fine, but because we were on the ground floor, the noise from the people upstairs was significant. Breakfast was a bit better than your ordinary "continental" variety, but not by much. They had biscuits and gravy and scrambled eggs, but the biscuits were as hard as rocks and the eggs were left extremely dry by the Sterno-fueled warming pan. We were told that they "normally" offer bacon and sausage as well, but because they had been throwing away so much as of late, they decided to stop doing so during the week. I would expect to pay no more than $60 to $70 max for a room of this quality in the Midwest, so I cannot in good conscience give them more than an "average" rating. I never write reviews but this place was seriously beyond gross. The second I walked in the room, I was hit with a damp stink. They obviously have low standards about cleanliness, so I spent $50 on cleaning supplies and cleaned it myself. There was green mold on the shower head so I asked the housekeeper to clean it. She barely wiped it and left. The green stayed. I stayed for 3 nights and despite constant cleaning and odor eliminator/freshener, I couldn't ever get rid of the smell. I also got a weird rash on my arm that I've never had before. I suspect the stinky bed sheets. There's a reason this place is cheap but it's still not worth the money. Pure yuck. read more

DO NOT VISIT. Had a wretched experience from the moment we arrived. Family had booked the rooms for us while traveling cross-country, and the day we arrived it had been raining. Locations such as this are equipped with a covered drive entrance so visitors can remove what luggage they possess in inclement weather conditions. Except... the worker at the check-in had HIS vehicle parked there. As a result, my partner and I were forced to take out our luggage and pet cats through the parking lot in the rain. That's a big strike one. Soon after that, we grabbed a bite to eat, but the location was about to close. It was noticed by the family we were with that the hotel had a table with chairs in the main lobby, so we decided to simply eat there. No one else was present, we were subdued and politely talking. The entire time, the check-in clerk was staring at us. Just eyeballing our party. When gathering up our trash, without prompting he rudely spoke up and asked in a loud and eager tone, "You're going home?" Strike two. And while the lobby was fairly clean, beyond that the hotel was a mess. House cleaning carts at the end of the hall that were left askew with items spilled out onto the floor was the norm on each floor. And the complimentary coffee? It reminded me of the old joke about how the coffee tasted like mud because it was ground this morning. Strike three, yer out! Do not give this location your business. read more

I had a very nice stay at this Baymont Inn. The staff were exceptionally nice and welcoming. The hotel is easy to locate off of the highway which was a plus after a long day's drive and is also close to some dining options. Getting in late, I didn't get the opportunity to enjoy the pool and hot tub area but I could see that it looked inviting. I had a King room which was very spacious and comfortable. The large bed left me with a great night's sleep. There was plenty of slace in the room for me to spread out, relax, and even get a little work done in the morning before check out. Wow! What a great stay that was, we're a touring band so cleanliness and security are imperative. 1- the location was conveniently off the highway. Very well lit. Parking was plentiful - we were even able to park right next to the side door under a light! 2- the hotel grounds inside and out, the pool, bathroom and room were so clean. We had two beds which was so luxurious. The window even opened slightly -rare for hotels and oh so refreshing. Bonus- The staff was more than friendly; very courteous. Super sweet and helpful, check in was a breeze. High fives all around. The complimentary breakfast was a great value; plenty of fresh fruit, varieties of coffee...even iced coffee! Giving me the options I rarely see on the road... I didn't expect them to have pears, and they did! And they were Anjou pears and my favorite (pretty amazing for the middle of Kansas!). The hotel was quiet and peaceful. The rooms smelled fresh and the AC was not only effective but silent. All together a great stay. I highly recommend this Baymont Inn on Iowa if you need a refreshing and peaceful stay. read more

Nice rooms in Lawrence and a good value. The front desk was busy at check in but the woman working was still personable and got us in our room quickly. The room was very clean and the bed comfortable. The rooms include a microwave and small fridge near the bath area and the room had a good sized TV. There is a complimentary breakfast that includes iced coffee which I appreciated, and there's an indoor pool. Also, I have to point out that the lobby bathroom was probably the cleanest I've ever seen at a budget hotel. The lot is well lit and the side doors require a key to enter which I like as well. I stayed at a nearby hotel on the same road last year for a higher price and it wasn't nearly as nice as this one. read more

This is a hotel under construction, or I might be more apt to give another half star or so. I like this place though because it's pet friendly. We were booked in a designated pet friendly room. My dog has short hair and never has fleas, (hes treated monthly) and I saw as soon as we got in the room he had a flea on his leg! I know this can't be helped necessarily, but proper measures need to be taken after a guest stays to make sure the room is bug free. We did get a very nice doggie welcome bag, and they place you on the first floor for ease of tioleting your pet. read more

This hotel is a 2 star rating. So why do I give this a rating well first the pool isn't available, and the breakfast room doesn't have supplies. Next, when we went to our first room it was hot asf and there was no coffee pot, There is only one ice machine, 1 elevator, so we switched our rooms but this room didn't have a working television so we had to get a new tv from the old room, oh and did I mention we have to use two remotes one for channels and one for volume. This was definitely not the worst hotel I've stayed at, but not the best. The room was not soundproof at all, but that may have been due to the large gap in between the door frame and the actual door. It was pretty evident that the door had been pried open at one point or another, which is never really a great sign. The room had a funky, almost moldy smell to it, and there were obvious signs of damage throughout it (crack/chipped paint in the tub, ratty looking curtains, stains on the wall). The parking lot was VERY cramped, I'm not sure If that's normal or they just happened to have a lot of extra cars that night. The woman who checked us in was nice, but the woman who checked us out was pretty rude and seemed very uninterested in interacting with anyone. read more

Barely average...air conditioning barely working, ants in the room, room and hallway cleaning were not done during our 3 day stay, ice machine didn't work, repairs that had been done to walls weren't completed, and more. Shower had excellent pressure and bed was comfortable. If you want cheap, stay here...I won't stay here again. I'm not sure who posted the good reviews on this site so guessing it may be those who work there or use there. You get what you pay for, but it was a clean room with decent beds/sheets. Room had a mini-fridge and small microwave inside. Free breakfast, but wasn't that much that looked appealing, so settled for juice and coffee. Usually stay next door at Day Inn, but it has an outdoor pool. Since stayed in February chose the Baymont because had an indoor pool. Although the pool area had ceiling partially falling down over it, but saw that maintenance workers were fixing the next day. Awful experience, very unprofessional. My roommate nicely ask to the receptionist Misty how she was and her husband that was also at the reception area got mad and started to make a scene. Her Kid was also in the reception area and invited my roommate to go outside. My roommate was confused because he is just fluent speaking English. I got outside to calm things down, the kid of the receptionist obviously wanted a fight, but the husband (kid's dad) intervened also we talk things out and everything got solved. In this whole drama the hotel did nothing they did not intervened, did not apologize they did nothing about the situation. read more

The staff was truly a blessing at a tough time. I needed a hotel room in an emergency. They welcomed my cat (which I guess is rare?). Every single shift at the desk was friendly, helpful and kind. It was very clean and I could tell that they were updating. I was extremely pleased with the conveniences in the room - both a mini-fridge and a brand new microwave. The TV was new (I did wish that I had more channels but it was still great). The hot breakfast was nice: Scrambled eggs, potatoes, biscuits and gravy, sausage and a way to make your own fresh waffles. There is also cereal and such. Very nice for a free perk. I wasn't there for the best of reasons but they truly did everything possible to make sure I had a comfortable, friendly stay. Great people. read more

Probably wondering why the 4 star rating but let me explain. I booked this hotel via 1-800 number and was given the military rate. Once I arrived and checked in with Roberta she thanked me for service and was very courteous, helpful and kind. The rooms were cleaned and beds were comfy. I did ask for extra pillows as it seems a lot of others did as well. Lol Now the hotel has seen it days most likely from the college kids partying but don't let that deter you from staying here. Breakfast is that a normal hotels chains within this chain. So no complaints there. Place has indoor pool and hot tub. We'd been driving for almost 10 hours when we finally made it to the Baymont in Lawrence, and it was such a nice stay and reprieve. The staff was very friendly and helped us get into our room very quickly. The hotel was super clean and well kept, as was our room. Our room was big, sheets/bed were nice and cozy, and the bathroom was super clean. We went to the complimentary breakfast the next morning, and even though we showed up a couple of minutes past the time allowed, the sweet ladies let us eat and grab some snacks for the road. Beautiful lobby. Walked in and was very impressed. Easy check-in, was able to our room with all of our stuff within 10ish minutes of arrival. Room was spotless. Beds were comfy. Baymont is a great chain of hotels. We've had the opportunity to utilize many hotel chains but Baymont is one of the most consistent in quality. The room is spacious and the beds are comfy. The bathroom is larger than most we've had. The shower was great. I loved having plenty of hot water for four people and the water pressure was excellent. The kitchenette was great. We don't always get microwaves in every room we stay in and that was handy for warming up some snacks. They have an indoor pool and a hot tub that looked awesome! We didn't get to use these this trip because of an early check out the next day but who doesn't love pools? Finally, the icing on the cake. The breakfast was excellent. We love having a complimentary meal and especially one with so many options and many fresh options to help us get on our way for the day. Which, the hotel was conveniently located near I 70.
