Candy wrapping on floor. Clearly this room wasn't vacuumed.
    Mark K.

So I love road trips. Since the pandemic I've been driving more and flying less. I've stayed in hotels across the nation. Interesting to compare and contrast. When you are on the road often times hotels are a commodity; however, when you peel back the onion you do see differences. I stayed in two different Towneplace Suites back to back and had completely different experiences. This hotel differentiated itself in negative ways for the following reasons: 1. Room assignment. They said suites were sold out. I use Bonyoy app which shows room availability. Why do front staff make shit up? Told me they were sold out but they weren't....... ugh, hassle from the start. 2. Cleanliness was non existent. Floors weren't vacuumed. Found garbage on floor in living room. Pic attached. Ugh. 3. Here's the best. Rooms on my floor that were vacant, and I'd say 75% were empty, were left open. Yes, doors were slight ajar! You could tell the rooms were vacant that were left open. What the ??? Was housekeeping leaving rooms open for friends? For homeless? Why would they do this? I notified the front desk, and I could hear them closing all the doors! Super weird. Super creepy. Didn't sleep well for sure. On a positive note the ladies working the morning breakfast were super nice. But won't stay here again.

This was left on our counter from housekeeping. It's the small things that matter.

This place was absolutely disgusting and this was a $500 a night 2 bedroom suite. I can only imagine what the regular rooms look like. Housekeeping needs to be reevaluated from the top down. I'd be embarrassed if I was the manager of this facility. They tried to tell me it's aging of the building... sure maybe so but how hard is it to dust, sweep or mop??? Unacceptable for a Marriott!

This has always been my Go To Hotel for the last several years. I stay an average of 1-2 per week. Even during the pandemic, I was in this hotel weekly. It was centrally located to 80% of my Kansas travel area. The staff knew me by first and last name when I showed up. The rooms were clean amd the staff attentive. Within the last several months, it has literally begun to deteriorate. I've had to call attention to dirty dishes in the kitchen suites several times. The outdoor cooking equipment was non functional, amd one might the buttons to summon the elevator WERE MISSING! There was a couple weeks when every ice machine in the hotel was NOT FUNCTIONING! Because of their location amd covered parking, I continued to try and make the best of things. Last week I left a pair of blue tooth wireless ear buds in my room when I checked out. I contacted the hotel TWICE the same day explaining that I left them and that I would return next week to get them when I check in. No answer. I left (2)estates a day, including the ops manager, with no return call. I check in last night and again asked about my personal items left in the room. No answers. Amd then to top off my disgruntled stay....I couldn't help but notice the large ROACH climbing the exterior door in the hallway...... I've have stayed 115 days in a Marriott hotel this year already....most of which used to be this hotel..... completely done. Best of luck. Theft of personal items, lack of customer service, amd absolutely horrid conditions......there are other Marriott choices in this town. I would highly recommend NOT staying here...... 2-stars are for location and covered parking. New ear bud purchase, a complete bug fumigation of my vehicle amd burning of my work clothes......I shall deem this hotel the Lawrence ROACH MOTEL of horror

This trip so far has been the extreme opposite. We came to the hotel at 12:30 hoping to be able to check in a little early. We stood at the front desk for almost five minutes before a woman came out and said, "do you need something"? She asked our name and said, "we have nothing available right now". We had hoped to change clothes and freshen up before a meeting with University of Kansas officials and a subsequent dinner with them. There is no school going on at KU as commencement was the previous week. There were only six cars in the hotel garage. We have never been treated so rudely by a hotel's front desk personnel. I also asked when the room might be available and was told 4:00. She made no effort to look anything up or accommodate us in any way. Very disappointing.

The room I stayed in had plaster and paint peeling off of the wall in the bathroom. It also just felt very sparse--no carpet, no rug. The bed was only half made. Other reviewers have mentioned odd noises at night, which I also experienced. The service at the restaurant is absolutely terrible. I waited about 50 minutes after ordering breakfast. My order included a cup of coffee. After about 25 minutes, the lone server came over and explained that she had many things to do before she'd get to the coffee order and could I just get some coffee from the lobby instead? What?? You're serving breakfast and you can't just pour me a cup of coffee?? I would never, ever go back to this hotel. It's truly terrible.

Not so here. In fact, it was truly awful.  We booked a week here. Not a brief visit. We arrived late on a Friday night and had conveyed we'd be late due to a long drive. When I went to check in about 9:30pm a male, Asian front desk clerk said 'oh good. You're the last one I'm waiting for.'  OK ... we got our keys and went up to our Room 202. Immediately noticed a strong, stale, moldy mildew smell. The bathroom had wallpaper peeling off and a lot of mold in the shower crevices. The next morning, we went down to the grab and go breakfast. If you enjoy high sugar,  prepackaged gas station food...this one's for you.  I asked if there were any hard boiled eggs.  No. Coffee had no nondairy creamer and tasted like dirty water. We told the front desk  girl about the smell in our room and also requested additional towels.   When we used the keurig in our room, it was no better than the lobby coffee.  Headed to  IHOP disappointed. Upon returning that evening,  the smell in the room was no better. We ran the air conditioner  24/7. No extra towels....but there were dirty, wet ones in the wardrobe from the previous person. Gross. By the third morning, my husband and I were feeling terrible. Headaches,  congestion, generally  awful. That morning, we told the front desk they needed to resolve the smell and, by the way, still no extra towels and trash is overflowing.  That evening, we could tell something had been sprayed to cover the odor but the problem was not solved. My husband  went down to the front desk to  insist on a new room while my daughter and I packed up our stuff...including  the towels and wash cloths we finally got the  previous evening. Still trash and wet towels in the room. We moved to Room 224. Thankfully,  this room had no smell and was in good condition.  It is apparent that housekeeping and  maintenance  staff desperately need training. Our second room was never turned either. We saw the manager on 3 separate occasions,  including checkout,  and were never asked how our stay was. We noticed he was in his office and wondered how it's possible to manage a hotel from behind a desk? Hopefully,  the corporate owner and/or Holiday  Inn will realize this facility  requires desperate help so other customers will not be subjected to these issues in the future.

First off the location is good and easy access from the interstate. The people were friendly and accommodating to our needs. Now the cons.... (One star knocked for each issue... It drives me crazy when you have to pay for breakfast, especially at a hotel like this, convention space and all. I am also a Hilton honors silver member. Even though it is not "gold" or whatever breakfast should still be included. It was $20/person and this WAS NOT CLEAR when I booked through the Hilton app. This Hilton Honors family was just not too happy about the breakfast situation :-(. Secondly, the pool is in the center part of the lobby. When you walk into the hotel there is a pool/chlorine chemicals type smell. Again just not the warm chocolate chip cookie smell we come to expect. This is also horrific for people with any respiratory illness or chronic health condition that trigger migraines. Thirdly, the restaurant does not allow any outside food. However the lobby area has seating with low coffee type tables. As a person is severe food allergies it is hard to eat at established restaurants so we typically bring our food and eat at a table in the lobby. The set up did not make it easy or comfortable to do this. Even if they could remove some of the glass wall to open up the tables and seating for people in the lobby would have been welcoming for guests. It just felt like this doubletree is catering to their business and not the guests that give them the business. Lastly the carpet.... Yug and the elevator steamy!! Please get some air flow in your elevator. The floor was so wet due to the pool being in the lobby.... BOTH ELEVATORS..... and the floor in our room felt like it seriously needed a good shampoo and time to dry. All in all, this is a great place if you are going for a pool party in the lobby but if you're here for any other reason I would choose somewhere else.

The color scheme and the vibe of this property have a more youthful spirit, which aligns with my tastes and spirit. It has a pool table, a big TV for the Stanley Cup, a great room, and a place to purchase snacks. The room didn't have a dresser but had an area to hang my clothing. I left the dresser items in my carry-on bag. And stacked T-shirts and shorts on the bench area. There is also a work station that I used in the morning for news and emails.
