That was my first day in New Jersey and I was happy to browse through things at this supermarket. Everything you need is here. The produce is very fresh. We bought some clams, snails, octopus, salmon to make a hot pot, and when we wanted to have a few more snails, they opened the bag and put some more in without weighing it again. The staff was so friendly and nice. They helped me find everything I was looking for. The watercress and vegetables were fresh. I bought some sweet potatoes and casavas which were both so delicious when I steamed them. They displayed everything so neatly here. The only suggestion I have is to please raise the temperature in the supermarket a few degrees. It was freezing cold. Other than that, all good. Thanks to this supermarket, my friend and I had a delicious steaming boat as our first dinner at this Airbnb in Elizabeth city.

The cashiers are always very patient and friendly. The produce section prices are what I would compare to Walmart prices essentially- which is great for being so local to a big transportation hub, while still being a smaller business. I usually get my sparking water here (bottles, specially Saratoga springs, because they don't have it at a ridiculous price!). They have a lot of Mediterranean import products, so if you're an olive lover stop in. 5/5 I'm here 1-3x a week

So far, I have found most of their produce to be fresh and well-priced. Otherwise, ost of their groceries are a bit pricey and on par with Shop rite in many cases. However, they often have very good sales - you can find them list on a digital display in front or by the price tags inside. Note that the best sale items typically sell out fast and they won't restock it. Overall, sub-hub is one of the better grocers in the area, especially if you prefer a modern and clean market to shop.

The last items require refrigeration. But there wasn't any. No chemical ice packages. The bag was sitting in the sun. It was 74 degrees. There had been no notice that the bag arrived. How long had the food been out in the sun? I wasn't certain. Since the sushi and the cheese might have gone bad, I wasn't going to eat them. Instead, I called the nearest Sprouts store in Avenel, New Jersey. Melisha Webber, the head cashier, answered. From her first words, she was understanding. It was clear she wanted to help. Even though Instacart had made the errors - no refrigeration and lack of notice - she wanted to make it right. "Tell me what you had,": she said. "Please come here and we'll give you fresh items." She didn't know me. She didn't ask for proof. She just wanted to do the right thing. During a break in my schedule, I drove to Sprouts. When I asked for Melisha, two clerks already knew my name. "You must be Ron," one said with a smile. "We have some items for you in the refrigerator." Melisha took the items from me and immediately threw them away. She wasn't taking any chances. "Let me get you the fresh items," she said. "I hope you don't mind. I gave you two orders of sushi." This is what true customer service is. A person who doesn't look for blame. What really threw me off was seeing a tray of frozen Deep samosas being pulled out to heat up. I asked again about freshness and got a confusing explanation about how they're made fresh and then send it to Deep to be frozen, which didn't quite add up. At that point, I was honestly frustrated and quite irriated about the lies, but chose to just take the order and leave. I can't speak for everything on the menu, but the samosas are definitely not freshly made. They're also quite small for the price, and the dabeli felt overpriced for what it was.
