Great option near the Newark International Airport and one of the only Wawa locations in the area. The only drawback is that this location is very busy which can cause chaos in the parking lot in addition to dealing with heavy traffic at times on the local roads getting there. read more

I've always loved wawa..mostly because of the free air machines. This was my first time visiting this location and also my first time having a salad from Wawa. & I must say, I was pleasantly surprised at the salad quality! I got the southwest chicken salad. The grilled chicken was warmed to a perfect temperature, the lettuce was fresh, and there was ample toppings. The bowl has enough space to shake up and mix. The overall taste was great. This location is very dirty and unfortunately is the closest to me so I frequent. Staff is nice, but many preparing the food put zero effort in especially for online orders. I've gotten lots of sloppy meals. There are a lot of homeless outside and drug addicts roaming the store and security guards watching you. It's not a comfortable location. A lot of times they even have the back doors closed and you have to park in the back and walk all the way around to the front. They are also out of a lot of things. read more

I have to agree with other reviews, this is a miss and a mess. I work nearby and came here to pick up a late lunch at 2pm. I ordered two salads: a BLT salad and a Roasted veg salad with an hard boiled egg. One of the two self checkouts was not working so I went to the registry cashier.Paid for the salads and went over to the pick up counter. Noticed the dressing was on top when I had ordered two dressings on the side. I asked the associate and she gave me a curt " well I'm not redoing them" and walked away. Mmmkay..good talk! She just left both containers with side dressings on the shelf, she didn't even put them in a bag. Next to my salads there was a small soup half the side of each of my salads placed inside a bag. Not sure if I was expected to use my levitating skills to levitate the salads to my car. Unfortunately, they are a little rusty so I asked another associate who kindly gave me two bags. To add insult to injury when I got to the office, the lady who refused to correct the salads also left out the egg I had paid extra for. I didn't even know a tuna sandwich can be " dry" - like are you SERIOUS?! READING IS FUNDAMENTAL! How do you mess up an order that literally TELLS you what to put on ? Especially when it's on the receipt ? This isn't the first time this happened either. I visited this location 2x. Gave it a second try , and I swear waste of money and time.. everyone go take that trip, find another Wawa .. because clearly this one isn't it. Between the rudeness , untrained staff, the staff who doesn't know how to read ... just go somewhere else. We get it. People don't like their jobs. I came in right after work to get my usual, chicken quesadilla with 10 slices of cheese, 2 American, 2 Cheddar, 2 Provolone, 2 Swiss, 2 Pepper Jack. I always pay for extra cheese 6 times for my quesadilla, it already come with 4 slices of cheese, that equals 10 slices of cheese. When I came in at 3:40am a wawa's worker came up to me and told me that I wasn't allowed to put that much cheese on my quesadilla and my response was, long as I pay for it, I would like to have it. I never had a problem with this Wawa's worker and I tip $4 to $5 to whoever makes my quesadilla every time. When I was leaving the store and asked for a refund, a Wawa's crew-member came up to me and let me know, Wawa's has six different cheese and one of the cheese wasn't on the app. I was never notified this. Yellow American Cheese is not on the app and I always order from the app. The only cheese on the app is, 1American 2 Provolone 3 Cheddar 4 Swiss 5 Pepper Jack. I order from the app every day and when I come in the store, I let them know that I want 10 slices of cheese on my chicken quesadilla, two of every slices. I was really excited to try out Wawa for the first time after hearing so many good things about it. I've heard that their sandwiches were on-point and that they're a better version of 7-Eleven. I had their spicy pepper brisket, mozzarella sticks, clam chowder with a buttered roll and a mango and banana smoothie all for lunch. The ordering process was done at a touchscreen kiosk to cut down on the ordering wait time. All you had to do was wait for your order number to be called when its done. I wish a lot more fast food joints can implement this ordering process to minimize error and wait time. I was not a big fan of their spicy pepper brisket. The brisket wasn't tender and was a bit on the dry side. I wasn't expecting much from a gas station convenience store, but I'd pass on the spicy pepper brisket sandwich and opt for their other offerings. The mozzarella sticks tasted like school lunch cardboard, so I'd skip that next time as well. The real show-stopper was their clam chowder. Even if it weren't fresh and came straight out of a can, I enjoyed the flavor a lot and it complemented the buttered roll extremely well. I should've ordered a large instead of the small haha. The mango and banana smoothie with an extra serving with immunity boost was refreshing, thirst-quenching and nice and yogurt-y. Overall, I had a pretty decent first experience at Wawa. I love me a Wawa and it's both a blessing and curse that this one is located so closely to Newark Airport. I frequently stop here to fill up the rental before returning and pick up a hoagie since Terminal A has such a dearth of decent food options. But the last few times I've been here, there's a lot to be desired. Of the many gas pumps on a Tuesday afternoon at 4pm, about 6-8 of them were orange coned off because... the lack of care of the employees? How can that be? Why did we all have to line up on half of your pumps when there were others that are perfectly functional? Now about the food... the food is fine, though I've had better quality, organization, and efficiency in preparation elsewhere. Maybe I had bad luck but I ordered a hoagie and a hoagie bowl which took over 15 minutes to do. I asked for some cheese in the hoagie bowl and there are huge CHUNKS of sliced cheese that weren't even cared to be separated. Also... why don't you stamp the order slips to know that I've paid? There needs to be some improvement here because there is a lot of lack of care that I don't typically see in a Wawa. Don't give yourself a bad name. read more

It seems that this location is somewhat of a hangout for locals. Late at night on the weekends they bring their cars in park in the lot next door comment showing off for each other and socializing. In small groups they come into the store and place orders, which slows down the process is just a little. It seems the staff is accustomed to these practices and adjust accordingly. I've been to all 3 North Jersey locations (Kearny, Lodi, Elizabeth) for Wawa. I have to say that this location is the best one. There seems to be more options in terms of sandwiches and dressing. I highly recommend going straight to the deli counter and ordering a customized sandwich! How do you order? Go to one of the touch-screen computers in front of the deli counter and select a category (e.g., Breakfast, Lunch/Dinner, Drinks, Soup/Salad/Sides, etc). From there, you can figure it out! You can really customize your sandwich from type/size of bread to toppings to dressing to extra meat! How do you pay? Once you complete your order, a receipt will come out. Bring the receipt to the front cashier as you wait for your order to be made. Pay. Then, go back to the deli and wait for your number to be called. Place your "PAID" receipt in the basket. Done! Enjoy! Their coffee is decent. They have a lot of varieties available. In addition, they have different types of flavored creamer! Free of charge! Wawa is great, especially when you want things customized to your liking! I also love their spinach artichoke bites that are by the cashier. Most definitely reheated frozen products, but still tasty! Came in after a night at barcode nearby and ordered two meatball sandwiches. Service was SLOOOOOW. There were a lot of people ahead of us who had to have been either drunk and hungry or just waiting a lengthy period of time because a few of those people seemed agitated. They finally called out my number but had only made one of my two sandwiches. While I was waiting for my second one, they just started placing the sandwiches down without calling out the receipt numbers. It's great to see WaWa moving into northern NJ. This store is brand new and has gas pumps also. It is pretty much the same as other Wawa's. Nice selection of grab and go snacks, sandwiches, fruit and salads. They make up sandwiches fresh at the deli counter too. Nice selection of coffee also. The bathroom has been clean each time i have used it. The only thing that was dirty was the door leading into the bathroom....its had some "smoot" on it for the past few days I have been there.....needs a cleaning. The one morning I went (5am) they only had four gas pumps open. They let someone park at the pump and go inside to make a purchase. This really screwed everything up because the guy was in real long and a lot of people were waiting. Hopefully they they work out the little kinks. Overall a nice, new store located on gritty Route 1 and 9 Northbound just south of Newark Airport. I was there two weeks ago and the service was in a very slow pace and not really good. The cold latte I ordered made me have diarrhea and believe me I have a really strong stomach and I almost can eat everything including rocks.
