An old style motor court like from the 1950s except fully modern. The former owners went around collecting old shotgun shacks and moving them onto the property and renovating them. I'm going to guess that the people who gave one and two star reviews don't understand "rustic." This is rustic. And a nice little place to step back from the world, slow down, and relax a little. And it's not far from civilization so you can step right back into the world and pick up the pace again with some fun (touring the swamp, going to a farmer's market, dancing- whatever you wanna do in Cajun country, it's not far away). This is a great spot to stay while you explore Cajun country, and Rocky and Lisa are great at helping you find things to see and do. Breakfast is good and quite spicy. The boudin is their own recipe and the smoked sausage is pretty good (neither are the best, but both are good). You should go into town and try the place with Zydeco breakfast - dancing, live music, and awesome food. This is a great place to stay. Don't expect five-star, downtown luxury. If you want a peaceful, rustic getaway, this is your place. read more

For EV drivers - bring your charging cable and a 50' extension cord - they let you plug in your electric vehicle to a 110 outlet on the tree by their crawfish float. It's a lovely quaint Cajun spot, with super friendly proprietors. Had a lovely overnight on the Bayou and classic breakfast (learned I'm not a fan of Hog Head cheese). Kids had an adjoining room in Cabins 3 & 4, which share a big balcony (great for parents of little ones!) Clean but not fancy; it is along a road which got noisy a bit, but still private. Don't have to drive an ICE - electric vehicles all the way! This is mid-way between Superchargers so the overnight extra 30 mile charge keeps you free of range anxiety. There is a charger nearby in Lafayette at Moss BMW if you forget your cord. read more

Two stars, one for the small town and one for the nice man I spoke to on the phone... THATS IT! Never mind the outdated "Trip Advisor Award 2009" that's five years ago... If I was shooting a sequel to Rob Zombie's horror flick House of 1000 Coprses, this place would be great... Never mind the rickity locks, the extra small "dungeon" like room with no windows... ahhhh the dirt on the "futon", "the hang-yourself-in-the-shower-stall" like feel in the bathroom.... oh and the eerie Elvis face statue... I walked in and I walked out.. Called the people to say "this house of horrors" is not gonna work for me and my family... I was unable to reach anyone...... By the time I got home, I had a "nasty toned" voicemail waiting for me regarding my cancellation... This really isn't a "Bayou Experience" travel down to Pierre Part where they have camps on or above the water, VBRO is a good start... or Check out Rip Van Winkle Gardens... much better priced, on the water at the same price if not cheaper than this disturbing stack of bricks with bad ju-ju. read more

I stayed in cabin 1 back in June . As far I know that is the most basic cabin. Great A/C clean and very cozy, has a little back porch . I am a bit of a germaphobe and had absolutely no problem here. I wanted an authentic experience and got one. Great breakfast that was included in our stay. The people that run the cabins and cafe are really so nice and welcoming, next time I'm in Louisiana I will actually go out of my way to stay here. Coming from me that means a lot. read more

Went there two times. The first time we had "Elise Cabin", which was a beautiful cabin, making you feel like 1930's actress. The comfort was very rustic but the cabin was clean. The second time we had the "Bayou Cottage", with two beds, a smooth sofa, a screened porch on the bayou and a front porch with rocking chairs. We enjoyed it more than the previous one. Special mention to the screened porch that permitted us to enjoy the night without the mosquitoes. We had the succulent and famous breakfast and bought each time some more craklin's. Bad for the diet, I know, but they are soooo good ! The owners are very nice and welcoming, they will do anything to make your stay as pleasant as possible. My advice is that this place is for people who like simple and authentic experiences. You will be in a rustic but charming cabin, right in the middle of a bayou ! read more

Needed to get away from New Orleans for a weekend. Stayed here at the bayou cabins and let me tell you it was the best decision I have made In awhile. The owners were very welcoming and make you feel right at home the second you step out of your car. We stayed in cabin number 4. It's a perfect cabin for two- we had our own bathroom and shared a back porch with cabin number 3. We walked out to a beautiful sight of the bayou and the rest of the cabins. They have 14 cabins in all some equipped with full a kitchen. They also serve breakfast In the morning from 8:30-10:00. The grounds are well lit with beautiful lights. There is also a fire pit on the grounds for all to use. Overall best place to stay in the area highly recommend it, we will be back soon! read more

If you dig the Atchafalaya and Lafayette surroundings, this is the place to stay! This cabin spot filled with so much details, love and atmosphere, you can hardly refuse to stay. It's minimal compared to all Super 8 motel madness but incomparable. Shame we just spend an overnight in the cool Elvis 50s cabin. This place is worth staying a whole week. A big plus is the amazing Cafe these folks run. True Cajun spirit, terrific good food. We had Hoghead that was simply the best we had on our trip. We promise to come again the long way from Berlin to stay longer. read more

We have stayed here previously and I gave it a 5 star review. Sadly I have to change that now. Our stay was very disappointing this time. We were quoted at $100 for cabin 8 so we happily reserved it for 2 nights. Our bill however was $312 after the high occupancy tax. I find this questionable for several reasons. First off we were staying in a cabin designed to sleep 6 -8 people (2 queen beds a futon and a sleeper chair). When asked at breakfast if we needed extra towels soap and whatnot. I replied no. So we didn't use any more extra amenities than if one person stayed there. I have 5 kids and 3 of them are ages 5 and under. I'm talking about the get in free to most places tiny tot stage and yet they were counted as just another full person like an adult. I just feel like things have changed and after being quoted one price it was a shock when we went to pay our bill. Their high occupancy tax of $56 a night could have paid for a night at a regular hotel. read more

Have really enjoyed this place . Needed to get away, our son and his girlfriend were coming with us but had an emergency so they didn't make it. A family showed up with 5 in their group so my husband and I decided to give them the other cabin that we weren't going to use they were happy and gave us a bottle of wine from there country ,France if i understood him right. I have stayed at Bayou Cabins twice. In 2014 and in March 2018. I cannot say enough about the hospitality but will give you two examples. On the first visit Rocky an gave us some chicken left over from a BBQ he was at and he and Miss Lisa also took us on a cruise up the Bayou Teche. On the most recent trip ,we arrived with a 12 pound Montreal smoked meat brisket that needed steaming. Our cabin did come with a mini range with two burners but it was clearly not sufficient to steam the monster brisket. Even if it had been, we did not have a pot to steam it in. Miss Lisa kindly opened a vacant cabin that had a full stove and gave us a pot that was ideal for steaming . Be aware this is not a five star hotel nor does it claim to be . It is a collection of lovely cottages on the bayou. It is 5 minute walk from Pont Breaux Restaurant that features live Cajun music most nights and several minute drive from the world famous La Poussiere dance hall. Breakfast is included in the price of the cottage rental. Merle Haggard and Hank Williams loved it there. I'm betting you will too. read more

I had a very pleasant stay here. Coming from a big city I wanted a rustic experience that wasn't to remote. This was better than I hoped for. The furnishings are old but clean and felt like a private home. My cabin with a kitchen, overlooked the bayou with a screened back porch, but all the cabins are different in size and comforts. Lisa and Rocky were great hosts and gave me a little primer on Cajun culture. read more

Stayed at the Godfather cabin for a night. We were pretty much the only ones here the whole time! We had a blast, played on the slides and swings. I LOVED the hammock! They have a stage with firepit that we wanted to get going but couldn't figure out where the firewood was or whether it was ok that we get things lit up over here! The cabins super cozy! Perfect size for 4 of us, could have maybe even squeezed in one more. You have a full kitchen area that could be easily used for dinner or breakfast (if they already didn't have a menu for ya). The cabins are quaint and reasonably priced (although they're anywhere from 60 to 150 years old so don't expect a spotless Ritz Carlton experience). Breakfasts are great and include nice scrambled eggs along with homemade sausage, boudin, head cheese, etc. A true Cajun experience and some of the best boudin around - plus one of the cabins allows dogs so you may be able to travel with your pooch if you so choose. Bring your own plates/bowls/glasses/utensils if you plan to cook anything or drink wine or cocktails - your cabin will be a true step back into history for those who appreciate it and they're in a great location for easy travel to Lafayette, New Iberia, Avery Island, or wherever you want to go. There is some car noise from the road that runs by the property and crosses the bayou but it didn't bother us at all. Overall, it's a great local lodging option when in the area and we'll definitely be back. read more

This is a real Louisiana Bayou Experience right in Breaux Bridge on Bayou Teche. Water runs along half the cabins! Each cabin is an authentic restored Cajun cabin. They have all the modern conveniences. Fabulous hospitality. I've sent dozens of friends there, and stayed there myself at least 6 times when my own home, just 4 miles away, had guests in it! read more

Stayed here on a daytrip from NOLA. It was charming and just what we were looking for. We were trying to stay at another place which wasnt answering when we got to town and luckily I found this place through Yelp. I phoned over after hours and the owner/manager simply told us to go on into Cabin 1 and that the key would be waiting for us. Are they old? Yes. They are supposed to look that way. What matters is cleanliness. Old also doesn't mean it wont have all the usual amenities. The balcony on the bayou was an added bonus. Give it a shot knowing there is no Ritz in Breaux Bridge, you won't be disappointed. read more

I was not impressed with the cabin I rented. It was depressing and really not that clean. The fainting couch was really dirty. The sheets did not match.....I stayed in one of the most expensive cabins, had no privacy, had to sit on the front porch if I wanted to be outside. They were very nice, but a bit stand offish....I wanted a few days to sit by the bayou and relax. read more

My wife and I stayed at Bayou Cabins July 5th and 6th. The couple that runs the place was wonderful. There was a booking issue in which someone was staying in the cabin that we have intended on sleeping in, so Lisa upgraded us to the Bayou Palace for free. The welcome kit of Boudin, Hog Head, Cracklins, and Prailine with some Rootbeer was fantastic. Breakfast was out of this world each morning too. If we are ever in the area we will certainly stay at Bayou Cabins and enjoy the food. The only thing I can think to say about the Bayou Palace cabin is.....if its the "Palace" I would hope the bed would be bigger than a full size. But we really didnt care, because everything was great. I needed directions to a swamp tour, and Lisa already had a map printed and told me exactly how to get there. The food was great, the acomodations were great, and I really enjoyed the owners. Loved it. read more

Absolutely adorable!! Drove down from New Orleans and stayed in the 1950's cabin which was awesome! Even though the cabin was a bit small it was super charming and cheesy which my best friend and I loved. The back deck was awesome and right on the river where we spent most of our time. Just bring your big spray!! Would definitely come back, the staff was nice and made a great breakfast! read more

I rented out all of the cabins for my wedding, hosting guests from all over the US. Now, I will mention that you can't just stop by and get a room, and their responsiveness is that of a proprietor whose primary business is not running the B&B. But they were soo accommodating and friendly. They allowed us the visit a week before the wedding. They allowed us to spray for mosquitos the day before the wedding. They allowed us to setup tents and gazebos, to host 3 bands and to use their business refrigerator, all with a smile. Lisa took me aside and calmed me when things got crazy. Rocky picked up firewood for us. They had personalized notes on the doors for the guests to ensure them they were in the right place. When one of our guests no-showed, they found a replacement tenant to occupy the cabin and save us some expense. And I'm not even mentioning the grounds. The lights at night are beautiful. The river behind the cabins is beautiful. The cabins were each unique and apart from the hot water not working in our shower (it worked for the bath), everything, although rustic looking, was functional. I am so grateful to have found these folks who, for the price of a two day rental, really opened their hearts and showed us what good and caring people they are. I will forever be grateful. read more
