They have just redone the carpeting and done a complete refresh. It was great. I do have one complaint and it is really a personnel complaint. This may need some training with the individual. My wife who had her hands full building out a breakfast plate for our grandson was embarrassed by a gentleman who looked to be in charge of stocking the breakfast. He yelled out in front of everyone, "Mam, please use the tongs" (she was getting a piece of bread and didn't use the tongs). The proper thing to do since this is a service related job, should have been to go over and help her get it and in a quieter tone, tell her to please use the tongs. She was quite embarrassed as everyone looked her way. So, Hotel gets a 5, Kitchen guy doesn't get a 5, but should be taught how to deal with the non-tonging grandma.

It was easy to book and easy to update when I had to change from a king to two queens due to an expected extra guest. Everything was done through the Hilton app. Upon arrival, the hotel was crisp and clean with a lot of parking on the side and in the back of the building. The lobby is adorable - bright with modern and fun furniture, a cute mural on the wall, a little market with everything from snacks to wine to beer and candy. There is coffee out 24/7, a pool and fitness room (sadly I didn't get to indulge in either due to the brevity of my visit, and a continental breakfast (which I also missed as I had to leave around 5:30am. I was told, however, if I needed, the night staff would have grabbed something for me. There are tvs in the lobby too. And I really was super excited that there were water filling stations in the hallway - perfect to fill up my water bottles for the race and to stay hydrated. The room was a little tight due to the furniture, but maneuvering it made it fine. There is no carpet which is nice, and there is no closet. However, they do give you some wall hooks and some hangers, so they're making use of the space. The bathroom was spacious, and the room was pretty well lit. There are soap dispensers in the bathroom and plenty of towels with free makeup remover wipes. The beds left a bit to be desired, I have certainly slept in better ones. The AC struggled a bit to keep it consistent so it was off and on al night. There are building noises, like you can hear the pipes and the occasional drip when others show and flush. The people above me must have had some big decisions to make because they were pacing back and forth most the night. You could definitely hear a lot in the hallways. Overall, it was just a noisy night. I would love for the management to provide information to the staff on the area - I asked for dinner recommendations for local places, and I was directed to three major chain restaurants. Even though there are several places in River Ranch and the surrounding area that are Lafayette based and locally owned, I was sent to ones who just had name recognition. The staff didn't seem to know the area, and I would hope that management would train on the mutual importance of partnering with local establishments. I found a place nearby through Yelp instead. I would not shy away from Tru in the future, especially on these fly through town trips. It's affordable, especially when you're really there for 12-15 hours.

This being a roadtrip this time around I took advantage of the full kitchen versus using my camp stove. With both fructose and lactose malabsorption it's very comforting to cook for myself. And having access to a full kitchen allowed me to make a rice and steak dinner and then in the morning make a cup of rice for the road, plus hard boil chicken and duck eggs I gathered the day prior. The duck eggs were fantastic! Just like in 2023, the Cajun jam night on Wednesday didn't disappoint. Such great music and wonderfully friendly people. One experience I was hoping to relive from 2023 was the ghost encounter in the balcony room; ghost sat on my feet! Unfortunately this go around in 2026, no ghost experience so just be aware there is a spirit, albeit a friendly spirit, inhabiting the Blue Moon. This isn't just a place to stay but a place to experience. We look forward to coming back.

It's a former boarding house that has been turned into an incredibly quaint Bed and Breakfast, with seven rooms and one suite. Two porches and a lovely terrace overlook Bayou Teche and the famed Crawfish bridge (not edible). The owner, Mary Lynn, has a healthy dose of graciousness and kick-in-the-pants humor. She had biscuits and cookies ready for us everyday which we devoured! It's rare that you meet someone who goes out of their way to make sure you're happy and enjoying yourself. She drove us 45 minutes to one of her favorite places- The Blue Moon. We planned to stay one night and were so thrilled with what we had found that we decided to stay for three.

I travel a lot for work (roughly…read more80% of the time) and when I found out I would be in Lafayette for six weeks, I immediately looked for short-term rental options. I know, I hate giving up hotel points but I really wanted something more of a residential feel, and with a kitchen and some room. I also love Lafayette and wanted a centrally located place since I wasn't just going to chill in my room and watch tv all night. Buchannan lofts met all my requirements...and then some! My loft had a full kitchen with a regular sized fridge and stove. The room was spacious with two beds. One bed was upstairs and a little more private, while the other was on the main flood and was only separated from the kitchen/living room by a curtain. There was a dining table, love seat, chair with foot stool, and desk. Even with all that furnature, the loft did not feel cramped. Exposed brick and exposed duct work / lighting added to that cool loft feel. The owner was very friendly and helpful. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes and there is a dish washer. Some minor negatives are the fact that you have to walk a few flights of stairs to get to the lofts and there is no elevator. The room was clean, but did have some wear and tear. Nothing major but it was here and there, and give the impression that the loft wasn't as clean as it actually was. I also didn't like the towels in the bathroom or the shower. I'll probably bring my own towels next time and I would have had a stand up shower and not a shower with a tub. The tub isn't a soaking tub so was basically useless. The price seems to be a little on the high side for the area (but I am cheap so I could be wrong). At that price point I would like better towels, bed linens and to walk in and feel like the place is immaculate. While the location is great and close to some great restaurants downtown, during the week downtown is pretty dead....but that is not the lofts fault. My negatives are really nit-picking and overall the lofts are a great option for all types of travelers. I would definitely stay again if it is in the budget. Check them out when staying in Lafayette...you really will be glad you did!
