Kolleen, The owner, a font of local history and information, gave us an enthusiastic welcome complete with wine, maps and local lore. She had the house relocated to her property in six pieces. It had one owner, previously, whose pictures and writing can be seen on the suite mantle. She also has some of the woman's lace dresses hanging in the wardrobe. The breakfast was eggs benedict, with some of the best hollandaise sauce I've ever had, and she even made a special crawdad sauce for me because I'd never had it before. We loved our stay here and if we ever come back through this way, we'll stay here again. Cozy, friendly and welcoming.

Russell and Brenda are the kind and helpful managers. Parking is limited to a side street but perfectly safe in this small town. I wish the wiring would allow a few more outlets in the rooms. Bring your 10' lightning charging cords and a multi usb adaptor... but it's an old house. The charm beats the lo band width WiFi (use your personal hotspot). So this is not a complaint: be aware that you are coming to an older property with eccentricities and you will be delighted.

The beds are uncomfortable and lumpy. The refrigerator remained a constant 55 degrees and all my food went bad. The owner was useless and "attempted" to fix the fridge twice. When I claimed it was still broken he ghosted me. Do not stay here, it's a shit hole. It looks cool in the pics but the furniture is shabby and nothing works right.

I travel a lot for work (roughly…read more80% of the time) and when I found out I would be in Lafayette for six weeks, I immediately looked for short-term rental options. I know, I hate giving up hotel points but I really wanted something more of a residential feel, and with a kitchen and some room. I also love Lafayette and wanted a centrally located place since I wasn't just going to chill in my room and watch tv all night. Buchannan lofts met all my requirements...and then some! My loft had a full kitchen with a regular sized fridge and stove. The room was spacious with two beds. One bed was upstairs and a little more private, while the other was on the main flood and was only separated from the kitchen/living room by a curtain. There was a dining table, love seat, chair with foot stool, and desk. Even with all that furnature, the loft did not feel cramped. Exposed brick and exposed duct work / lighting added to that cool loft feel. The owner was very friendly and helpful. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes and there is a dish washer. Some minor negatives are the fact that you have to walk a few flights of stairs to get to the lofts and there is no elevator. The room was clean, but did have some wear and tear. Nothing major but it was here and there, and give the impression that the loft wasn't as clean as it actually was. I also didn't like the towels in the bathroom or the shower. I'll probably bring my own towels next time and I would have had a stand up shower and not a shower with a tub. The tub isn't a soaking tub so was basically useless. The price seems to be a little on the high side for the area (but I am cheap so I could be wrong). At that price point I would like better towels, bed linens and to walk in and feel like the place is immaculate. While the location is great and close to some great restaurants downtown, during the week downtown is pretty dead....but that is not the lofts fault. My negatives are really nit-picking and overall the lofts are a great option for all types of travelers. I would definitely stay again if it is in the budget. Check them out when staying in Lafayette...you really will be glad you did!

We have stayed here several times on trips to and from New Orleans and are welcomed like family. This home was built by French born rice and oil merchant Emile Daboval in 1892 and has been meticulously restored and furnished with antiques. Rooms are super clean (we're both clean freaks and very picky about room cleanliness) and well appointed with everything you need, including plush towels and starched sheets. Soft drinks, water, and ice are provided in a small room downstairs. Smooth chicory coffee service is quietly brought to your door each morning, followed by a delicious breakfast served downstairs in a beautiful, country chic dining room. We recently enjoyed cream cheese stuffed French toast with Louisiana strawberries, locally smoked bacon, hash brown potatoes seasoned to perfection, and freshly squeezed orange juice. On another occasion, yummy ham and cheese muffins and locally made andouille sausage were in the menu. Seriously----restaurant quality Cajun cuisine created by Martha in her kitchen! We simply cannot say enough about Maison Daboval. You won't be disappointed and will be treated like family.

Definitely not a hotel chain kind of place. The rooms are spacious from what I saw. We had two double beds. The bathroom was large and there was a big tub. It sits right on Bayou Amy and you can watch alligators swimming by from the porch. There aren't many outlets for you to plug your electronics in. They're mostly behind the bed. When we went to try to put the plug behind there, the headboard fell off of the wall. It was just barely hanging on this piece of cork board... The problem is that the walls are super thin. You can hear everything from the room next to you; everything they're saying and watching on the tv. So if you're unlucky and are next to people who stay up late...we'll you aren't sleeping. You can also here the music from the bands playing in the club next door. There are doors that attach the rooms, so I guess if you have a large party you can visit each other. When we left for the day, we didn't put the do not disturb sign on our door, but they still didn't come to make the beds. The free breakfast is just a couple of cereal options, coffee, orange juice and an assortment of packaged pastries you can choose from. The craziest thing about this place is the cats. The parking lot is completely crawling with cats, like 30 of them. Everyone tries to feed them so they stick around. They're very friendly and sweet, but be careful because they might try to follow you inside. It is convenient that there's a bar and a restaurant attached. There is a lot of construction right when you get off of the interstate, so be careful that you're GPS doesn't try to reroute you like it tried to do to us.

When I arrived at 9:45 after driving a few hours with my pup, I called the after hours number on the door and was told nastily that they were away for the weekend-- when I explained my situation and asked why someone had booked us just hours before, I was told to "stop talking over her," that there was one person she could check with... and then she said "ya know what?" and hung up on me. A few minutes later, I got a call from another number, and a man told me he was another owner and asked how I was. When I told him not great and started explaining... I realized I was ON A THREE-WAY CALL when the woman burst on, cursed me out, and ended the call. These people are a reallll class act. And by class act, I mean I think they were held back in 6th grade and have been there ever since. Rude and crude!
