The team here at Bayou City Smiles does great. First I had complete my new patient check in information on the computer. Then I was escorted back by Alexis to the office to take a bunch of x-rays and pictures of my teeth, that took about 15 minutes. He was very nice and patient. Since it was my first visit Dr. Hines performed my teeth cleaning and explained good oral hygiene practices to reinforce the importance to prevent having to have more dental work done. He was kind and explained things well. I was sent home with a goodie bag and it was very easy to make a return appointment. Overall I had a great experience. I've been going to Bayou City Smiles since 2018 when I lived near downtown. I found them randomly back then and have never gone anywhere else since! Hilda! My hygienist has been taking care of my teeth all these years! she's the best!! Even after moving to Katy, I still drive every six months because they're worth it. Today, I had my procedure done by Dr. Guzman, three crowns and a filling,and he did an amazing job! He explained everything before and after, made sure I was comfortable. Be aware of overcharging. I scheduled a basic clean and checkup. They performed a basic clean and checkup. However, they coded it as a follow-up to a deep clean that was performed two years ago. Unfortunately I paid during checkout and it wasn't until my wife informed me the appointment should be free. After weeks of calling, they told me it was too late to reverse any charges. I went to Bayou City Smiles yesterday for my first visit. I recently left my dentist because I was not very satisfied with their service and had questions about how they were submitting claims to my insurance. I was immediately impressed by how I was greeted upon walking into Bayou City Smiles. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming! The space itself is very nice and is in the very conveniently-located Montrose Collective. Everything looked nice and new! My hygienist was Tu and he was absolutely amazing. He walked me through everything and made sure I was always comfortable. He had great technique and was not heavy handed at all. He was also genuinely interested to know more about me. I didn't feel like just another customer. He was very knowledgeable and he even spent time checking me for any potential signs for cancer by doing a lymph node check and thorough neck/throat inspection. That was a nice plus! As for Dr. De Guzman, he came in after my initial inspection and made sure to talk to me about what everything means and gave his professional opinion on next steps. I immediately felt at ease with him due to his friendly and insightful demeanor. Dr. De Guzman immediately made me comfortable with his approachable manner and I knew I made the right decision to switch dentists. He had answers for all my questions and assured me that they can take care of my immediate concerns. We put a plan in place and I'm definitely looking forward to my next visit! And I just have to give special mention to the ladies at the front desk. They were all very friendly and proactive in helping me figure stuff out like how to transfer my current Invisalign treatment and gave me all the information I would need to file claims with my secondary insurance. They weren't just rushing me out but made sure I understood the next steps. I'm very happy that I decided to try Bayou City Smiles and wholeheartedly recommend them. It was an amazing experience. I went in at 8AM to see Dr. Coral to replace a broken crown. I was anticipating a typical 4 hr ordeal with pain. I asked for gas and after a quick shot she went right to work. The old crown was off in 10 minutes. Then about 5 minutes to scan my mouth into the computer. She then put a little square white cubic zirconia into her machine with multiple videos and in 30 minutes my crown was done. She put it in the oven for 15 minutes. Then she tested the fit, did a little sculpting and glued it in. She said eat and drink whatever you want. I walked out the door at 10:30. I did not feel I oz of pain. It was a miracle. I just could not believe the advances in technology and the expertise Dr Coral possesses. It was really amazing! read more

I used Bayou City Smiles (BCS) for a little over 3 years. The purpose of this review is to help people decide whether to use BCS or not. Bottom line, I quit using these guys because I had a bad experience with both dentists. I simply do not trust that these people have my best interests at heart. I gave BCS 1 star for this reason. I 100% recommend using these guys for routine cleanings and a couple fillings. The problem is, these people prioritize profits over your health and well-being. I would consider using another dentist office if you need extensive work done. I hope this helps! read more

Update to my continued dental visits with Dr. Guzman. He is just the greatest dentist ever. Their whole staff is extremely nice and welcoming. I have my routine check ups here and the hygienists always do a great job, are super efficient, and friendly. Tuesday, I had scheduled a longer visit to have 3 cavities and 3 gum line grooves fixed (essentially three fillings). These cavities that Dr. Guzman worked on weren't just normal cavities, they were ones that formed beneath existing fillings. Dr. G had to drill out the existing filling and had discovered some deep cavities beneath them.... sad day! Basically the procedures were complicated and lengthy but Dr. G performed them perfectly. He showed me the before pictures, decay beneath pictures, and the new fixed work pictures. I was so impressed with his work.. it was way above and beyond the amazing work I typically expect from him. Yesterday after the procedures, I go home to rest up and I get a freaking call from him today asking how I'm feeling. I wasn't expecting that either and am so happy he took the time to call me to check up on me. I feel so special :). Definitely go to Dr. Guzman at Bayou City Smiles for some exceptional dental work and service! read more

I love this dentist office! First off, they're still SUPER COVID safe! Temperature checks, hand sanitizer, sanitizing chairs/seats, masks on everyone, and you wait in the car until they tell you to as to avoid many people coming at once. I saw Dr. de Guzman and had Tu as my hygienist. The attention to detail is GREAT. For example, they give you sunglasses whenever there's strong light in your face, and before the cleaning, they put cocoa butter on your lips! I always dreaded having dry lips after the dentist, so these small things really made a difference for me! Also, Tu had great steady hands and a light touch. I've had a very rough-handed experience in the past, so my visit was amazing. I've already booked my next appointment, and I'm happy to come back! read more

Bayou City Smiles is a special place. Truly. Dr. Corral is an amazing dentist and a special human being. She has a wonderful bedside manner and really knows her stuff. I'm not an easy patient and I'd probably some say I am one of her worst just because I am so scared of the dentist and my teeth are hyper sensitive. However, she and her staff - Alyssa and Deborah especially - have such a pleasant, welcoming, and warm attitude about them that puts me at ease. Dr. Corral walks you through everything that she is doing on your teeth while she is doing it. Those crazy scary drilling sounds you here that makes you think you are going to die? She explains what it's doing and is constantly checking on you. Afraid of tooth sensitivity to certain procedures? She makes sure you are completely comfortable and numb before touching your teeth. I have had a few emergencies that I needed to go in for, especially after chipping veneers and tooth sensitivity, and Dr. Corral, like the amazing dentist she is, immediately fixed the problem (and took me in last minute!). Her staff, when I have come in completely freaking out because I have an international flight the next day and my chipped veneer is causing me so much pain, is so caring and somehow fits me into Dr. Corral's busy schedule. I found Dr. Corral through my wife who knew I was putting off going to the dentist solely because I was so scared. She came home and told me that Dr. Corral is amazing and really takes her time to make her patients feel comfortable. My wife, who I hate to admit, is almost always right and she couldn't be more on point with her review and glowing recommendation of Dr. Corral. She has a patient in me for life. I feel at ease going to her office. She is a true professional and her entire team is really great. Super nice people who know what they are doing. Their pricing is extremely reasonable and I have never had an issue there. I could not recommend Dr. Corral, Alyssa, Deborah, and her entire team of lovely people any more than I could. I was there as a new patient on 2/5/2019 and I really enjoyed my experience there. I've been looking for a new dentist since about 6 months ago. What I really liked about this office is how effective, thorough and approachable the staffs are. My dental hygienist was Kate and she was wonderful. Not only she was gentle but she was also very skillful. Dr. De Guzman gave me the dental exam and he was very professional and thorough. Dr. De Guzman is THE best dentist I have ever had. I am so glad that I found this practice and have been coming here for years. Not only are he and his staff extremely skilled and professional, but they are also so friendly, personable, and sincere. I have extremely sensitive teeth and receding gums, and I wear a mouth guard. Dr. De Guzman and his hygienists always take good care of me and are very gentle with my teeth. They also custom made my mouth guard, and it's super comfortable when I wear it every night. I started bringing my kids (ages 8 and 10) to Bayou City a couple of years ago, and they love it here. Dr. De Guzman and his staff (shout out to Mr. Tu!) were also extremely patient w my 8 yr old when she had to have 6 cavities filled. They made her feel safe and calm during the procedure. I have years of experience going to the dentist. I know what I am looking for. A pain free transformational experience. I found it at Bayou City Smiles. The cleaning is excellent and pain free, they passed the first test. So I went in to fix an old cavity filling. I have very sensitive teeth and the thought of a drill gives me high anxiety. This experience was beyond belief! My combination recommendation: Nitrous Gas, Max Shot of Nova, Dr. Corral on the drill, Christian in the side chair. I couldn't believe it and I did not feel a thing. Before and after pics, showed the work, beautiful. Dr. Corral went to work like a sculptor trying to copy Michelangelo's David while Christian methodically cleaned up and massaged my stretched out lips. Oh my, blessings from heaven, this was what I have always been looking for. If I had only brought my ear phones and put on the perfect song "In-a-gadda-da-vida" by Iron Butterfly, I would have thought I was in heaven. It literally took ten minutes, I didn't feel a thing, and now I am at home eating hard candy trying to incur a cavity so I can return. Now that is a good dentist! But, you get what you pay for, the price was well below my expectation and in line with the other Dentists I have tried in Houston, however, I walked out thinking, what a bargain. So, If you have anxiety, hate the Dentist, have sensitive teeth, and your not in your macho phase where you think you can tolerate pain (no pain no gain phase), then I highly recommend my combination above at Bayou City Smiles. I came here because I was recommended by a friend, once I got my teeth cleaned the dentist herself told me that I needed to get my wisdom teeth taken out and that I had a cavity in one of them. Prior to going to Bayou city smiles dentist I have had seen had told me that my wisdom teeth look good and if I took care of them , I wouldn't need to take them out. So I was a bit confused. And I decided to get a second opinion. And I did the new dentist that I just saw, said that my wisdom teeth had enough room and that I did not need to take them out and that I did not have a cavity. As another patient indicated, I too believe that the staff does not have your best interest at heart and instead are more concerned with profit vs patient care. I was told I had a "somewhat looking old" filling and they recommended replacing my fillings to avoid "cracks" in the future. Was this serious? No. Was it needed or medically necessary? No. Mind you, the visit was originally just a routine dental cleaning but these visits do not pay adequately. Just another service line item to add to the dental claim form in an appointment that was simply for a routine dental cleaning. Gullibly, I had the filling replaced. Fast forward now I'm having extreme pain, tenderness, swelling and tooth discoloration on the tooth where the BAD filling was completed on. The nerve is dying and the "emergency" appointment with Dr. Guzman wouldn't be until Monday in the afternoon. I had a fever the night before. So disappointed! With my cleaning 3 weeks ago, the hygienist was not able to properly clean my teeth/floss my teeth due to an existing medical condition (rotor cuff injury). Sure, I was able to floss at home but just another experience where patient care was compromised. read more

Although the office is lovely, it is conveniently located, and the receptionists and hygienists are really nice, I can't help but feel a bit taken advantage of after leaving my cleaning a little over a month ago. I was informed after my cleaning that I needed about $7000 worth of dental work done (after insurance). But don't worry, they can spread that amount out over multiple payments. Not to mention, that tooth that has never hurt needs to be extracted - TODAY! I went for a second opinion and the work I need done will be somewhere closer to $1000 total (and I don't need the extraction). On top of that, I went in for my basic, 6 month cleaning. I got a great cleaning, however this office classified it as a "moderate cleaning" instead of basic (the basic is covered by insurance 100%). They ended up charging me $79 without asking if I was okay with the more thorough cleaning!!! Overall, even though the people are nice, I would look elsewhere for dental work, as I truly believe the dentist I saw did not have my best interest in mind. read more

However, this office is super close and my close friend highly recommended them so I tried again. This office is lucky to have Hector because he convinced me that my first experience was a fluke. He immediately got me booked with speed and professionalism! His customer service is 5/5 stars. I felt so welcomed and he got me really excited about my appointment. My hygienist was Karla and she was amazing. She told me step by step everything she planned to do and everything she was doing while thinking of me as a person. I need some scaling and she right away asked if I needed the restroom because it would take awhile to complete. She was always gentle and kind. I've never had a dentist office think about how dry your lips can get but she applied cocoa butter to make sure mine didn't dry out. That blew my mind. My dentist Dr Corral was also very warm. She explained everything very clearly without me feeling ashamed that I really should floss more. The office itself is impeccable. It somehow manages to be clean without being too sterile. Been getting cleanings here for 5 years now. Fantastic staff and service everytime. Love the location in the inner loop. Never had to wait longer than 5 minutes for my appointments. Lots of cleanings. Had a few cavities filled. They noticed I was grinding and had a mouth piece made that I wear at night. It doubles as a retainer which is nice. Given good tips and advice. They even clean my retainers. Love the new automated text messages the week of the appointment as a reminder. I would highly recommend. read more
