Had a great time here, my usual place in St. Bernard was closed permanently and gretna gun works' range is closed but I really wanted some range time with my new firearm. I called on a Saturday morning and spoke with Christy who was friendly, helpful, and professional. The entire staff was and there was even a gentleman who helped me out when i thought my Magazine was sticky. They offer conceal carry and women's classes as well. It was a ride out but 10000% worth the drive, I had a great experience, and bonus the guy in front of me paid for my range targets, which they have some really fun ones that you can even play games on. Well if you haven't been here lately, you need to check it. They have revamped the whole place. New entry and retail space. Also the range is now air conditioned. Very clean range with awesome employees. Very knowledgeable and willing to help to make your shooting experience a great one. They do sell guns and have some ammo. The range is rented by the hour which is more than enough time to shoot 100 rounds or so. Only open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Hopefully they will be open more days during the week, soon. read more

I highly recommend this range. With all the craziness going on in today's world it's empowering to know you're trained correctly in gun control and it's safety. In order to protect yourself and your family make sure your have the right training. I recently took the Women's Self Defense Fundamentalists class with Christy and I'm so glad I did. She's an awesome Certified Instructor. She's knowledgeable, patient and encouraging. Her class was informative and fun. Looking forward to the next few classes that's offered at Bayou Dragon. Went to Bayou Dragon Range today, Accounted for all shots on target. Cable to control target came loose and office man said I shot his cable and charged me $40 for what looked liked a frayed wire that came loose. Been coming here the past 3-4 weeks and won't be back here again and don't recommend this range. They took my $40 for their lack of Maintance to their equipment. Cable came loose on return and stopped 5-6 feet from counter; you can see cable on ground and end looked like it came off its screw. read more

Great range! The rifle range is nice and longer than usual distance for an indoor range. The staff could not be more personal and friendly. I highly recommend shooting the glock matches. They do an excellent job hosting the matches. The range is clean and they recently did a remodel. One of my favorite places to shoot. read more

Went there in late August to shoot some handguns and get a new rifle on paper. The setup is great: 50 yards indoor with targets on electric retrievers and plenty of stalls. Now the not-so-great: the lighting is terrible - at 50 yards I couldn't see my target, distances are not marked, and the AC in there (basically a couple of small fans and one big one) is completely inadequate to deal with a hot summer day. It would have been cooler if the range was outdoor. With the addition of some AC, lighting, and distance markers, this could be a good range. As is, I have a hard time going back. read more

Great place to go and shoot up some targets without overpaying for lanes. It's only about $20 and if your ex military you'll get a nice discount from the owners (who are very patriotic). There is never any time limit on the lane that you get, even if all lanes are taken. Great place I would definitely recommend it read more

This range is located on the edge of Jean Lafitte Park so it is a scenic drive to adventure out to this location. The price is a bit steep at $20 and $4 for two targets but that is with no time limit and you can shoot from open til close if you want. This range allows both pistols and rifles with the range going out to distance of 50 yards. It was disappointing that the yardage distance wasn't marked out so you need to do a lot of estimating and that is a situation that could be easily fixed with a bit of paint. During the weekdays this is really one of the few NOLA area options for shooting rifles and to get an initial zero this place will meet your needs. I would suggest you double protect your ears by using both earplugs and ear muffs at this range as the sound is EXTREMELY loud when rifles are being fired. The targets are set up on an electronic pulley system so it is pretty convenient to zero in a rifle here. They have wire fencing set up underneath the shooting stalls so if you have any brass that goes over into that section you won't be able to retrieve it. They also offer firearms classes, gunsmithing, paintball and airsoft. read more

Love the smell of gunpowder? Ever want to shoot in an post apocalyptic setting? Want to actually see the concussion wave from your shot? If yes to any of these, then this range is just for you. You are guaranteed to smell gunpowder the next day since then don't have ANY air purification systems or air circulation for that matter. You can actually see the air as a thick haze which makes long range shooting impossible when you factor in that there are no working lights past the 15 yard line. As for the staff, the only thing that the guy seemed to care about is his "precious" clothespins that you use to hang your targets. This place is rifle friendly otherwise go to Harahan for a much better shooting experience with a very friendly and knowledgeable staff. read more

If you go here be sure to bring cash with you as they do not accept cards for their range fees, while the price to shoot here all day is cheaper than most other ranges would charge for an hour. They are pretty far from the nearest bank to get cash so in my opinion it isn't worth it. read more

Pros: Cheap shooting, not by hour but by person, so you can shoot for a long time. Open Sundays. Standard indoor set up, electric retrievers and standard stalls. Cheap targets. Cons: Way to much lead. I have never seen a shooting range with such a lead problem in my life nor had the other shooters I went with that day. There was basically small dunes of lead and gunshot residue directly in front of the stalls. We couldn't touch any surface without getting lead and gunshot residue on our equipment and firearms. There is so much it was visibly caked on the walls and air ducts. I couldn't believe they are even allowed to legally have that bad of a lead issue, even if it 's just for the safety of the employees. I doubt the indoor range has been decontaminated, or cleaned for that matter, in years. Other thoughts: The lead was so bad that afterwards those who I went with as well as my self felt like we could feel the lead dust in our mouths. I read on a forum that someone had called Bayou Dragon "Leadquarters" in a post that dates all the way back in 2009. Google search "leadquartes bayou dragon" (no quotes) and you'll probably see the post as the first link. read more
