The Bayshore Caltrain Station is a simple no-frills train station in an industrial area. There is a small parking lot where you can park and ride for $5.50 all day. If parking is a bigger deal to you I've heard the 22nd Street Station (one stop from here closer to San Francisco) has more residential street parking. There's one lane for trains going to San Francisco and another going to San Jose. If you're taking the southbound train, you'll have to take the stairs or elevator and cross the bridge. Note that they do not have restrooms. Depending on which zone you're getting on and off will determine the price that you pay. Just remember that you need to pay before you board. You can scan your Clipper card at their kiosks or buy one on-site. Pro tip: if you have an iPhone you can set up a digital transit card and refill your transit card with your credit card. It's not located in the best part of town but as long as you stay alert of your surroundings and avoid being here at night as much as possible, you should be fine. read more

This station has no bathrooms and is a very no-frills station, but there is a nice view of the mountains and colorful houses in Visitacion Valley, and the tall footbridge looks quite picturesque in the right light. You can see the Cow Palace from this station. It is a bit of a walk to businesses, and there in an hour between stops , so it is not too convenient if you don't get there at the right time. Oh god... Where am I? This station is in the middle of nowhere. Thank god there are map apps. If you are traveling Southbound, you need to be ready for the stairs. And if you just arrive at the station and hear the "Southbound train is arriving" announcement, you need to beat Usain Bolt's world record to catch the train. The moment I missed all the baby bullet train for the day I knew it was gonna take forever to get to San Jose from San Francisco so I coordinated with my roommate to come get me. We decided that Bayshore would be the best destination to pick me up. I arrived at Bayshore and it was very sketchy. What I didn't like was I had to go up 3 stories, cross the tracks, and then go down another 3 stories. Why couldn't they just make a path across the tracks? read more

Pretty simple no frills station. It's a bit in the boonies with no close by stores. There is ample street parking so don't pay to park in the lot. Train stops about once an hour for a 10 min ride to SF. There is a ticket machine, a few shelters to wait in, and yellow rubber bumpers in the cement to remind you that you are standing too close to the edge. Design is a bit poor. For those getting off SB you have to walk to the S end, cross the bridge, and then walk all the way to the N end to exit. They should have just put the pedestrian bridge at the N end where the exit is. Go figure. Oh. And no restrooms anywhere around here so you better hold it, wear depends, or water one of the drought stricken trees. read more

I live in Brisbane, and I take the Caltrain at this station. It's chill and quiet, and tends to be fairly safe even at night. Across the street is a recycling/compost plant which attracts a lot of hungry seagulls! Though parking is plentiful, be prepared to have to wash your car if you park here. read more

I wanted to write a review on how unbelievably irresponsible Caltrain is. I arrived at the Bayshore Caltrain station 7 minutes before the arrival of the 3:49 southbound train. It takes about a minute and a half to go up the stairs, across the bridge to the southbound side, and down the stairs. While still on the northbound side I noticed physical signs saying to look up at the virtual display sign for any changes to the tracks for where the trains will arrive. I stared at the display to see all the alternating messages and nothing was mentioned about any track changes. I cross over to the southbound side and 4 minutes later I see the southbound train arrive on the northbound side. That was my train. I'm on the southbound side. It would have been impossible for me to cross over the bridge back to the northbound side in time to make my train. After the train left I noticed the same physical signs on the southbound side saying to look at the display for any track changes. I stared at the display on the southbound side and saw one of the alternating messages say all trains are boarded on the northbound side. After missing my train I crossed back over to the northbound side and stared at the display on the northbound side again. The alternating messages on the northbound side display did not have this message saying all trains are boarded on the northbound side. So, in order to know that all trains were being boarded on the northbound side, you would have to go up the stairs, cross over to the southbound side, and stare at that display just to cross back over to the northbound side. This could have been avoided if Caltrain put in a little more effort and displayed the same relevant message on both sides of the track but they decided to be lazy about it instead. I missed my train because of this and Caltrain comes every hour. No wonder nobody takes Caltrain and it's always empty. read more

This was the closest station to my hotel and it was perfect for an inexpensive ride to the Giants Sunday afternoon game. No parking hassle, no traffic jam. It's only 13 minutes to the station near AT&T Park and a short stroll to the stadium. The ride after the game was simple with excellent crowd management. So the Bayshore Station is located in a pretty shady part of the City..well to most it is. I mean Visitation Valley ain't the safest of places, and from the station, the projects are pratically a hop, skip, jump away. But I grew up in Sunnydale, so I'm not too worried about it. They recently (within the last 5-7 years) revamped the whole station. I mean before, they used to have this old shack stand as the place where the train stopped. Now they have raised platforms, an overpass so folks can cross from N to S or vice versa, equipped with an elevator and all. And it's always pretty clean. I must admit Bayshore is pretty nifty now-a-days. Only problem is, no express trains stop there, well none form Palo Alto that is. So unless you plan on transferring routes, it's the local only for Bayshore. So have fun! My favorite memories of the place was trynna catch the 12:07 am train (yes folks, after midnight) and I'd be at the top of Tunnel Ave on my way down. I'd hear the damn train blowin and start running all the way down. now I'm Samoan..and if it aint the front of the Hometown Buffet line...you ain't seein nothing this big move..wait...the new Hummers did come out,,but anyways...I would huff it and puff it and miracolously..make it. Well with the old station I did. The new station, you have to use the overpass which kills a GREAT deal of time. Hmm..now that I mention that part..I'mma have to take a star. Pedestrian bridge currently under construction so everyone is boarding and off boarding on one side but none of the construction workers know how to tell anyone to get around. There are no signs. When I first got off the north bound train, I asked a man who standing by a shuttle if it goes to the other side and he said to ask "that yellow guy in the vest" WHO WAS ON THE OTHER SIDE. I walked up and down the platform and I went onto the unpaved road to see where I was and only then did someone with any knowledge speak to me. He wasn't trying to help me though I had walked by him 3 times. He only talked to me to mention I was standing on private property and that they have been running the shuttle to the other side. So you're telling me this guy is here on business and saw me looking lost and let me walk around for 15 minutes?? I asked 2 workers how to get to the other side and none of em knew. But this guy knew and didn't say sh*t to me. There are no other signs to get to the other side, only a shuttle boarding sign. But not to where the shuttle was going. So rider beware: GET ON THE SHUTTLE TO GET TO THE OTHER SIDE. read more

This is my neighborhood Caltrain station. I live in Brisbane. I am very grateful this is here, regardless of the negative comments, because it's the only way for me to get to my job in Downtown SF. Bart is too far away and I can just ride my bike to this station from my house in 10 minutes. There is also ample street parking. The elevators smell like urinal cakes, the land bridge is a PITA to get over and the station is generally pretty ghetto, but at least it's relatively clean and a train stops there once an hour. This is the last San Francisco Caltrain station and it's pretty convenient. It's true that it loose deserted and all but why does it matter? It's a station to get on / off. It's also next to the land fill and a bad rep name of another neighborhood Visitacion Valley. It's not as bad as they say. Anywhere you live with have crime, but this area has vastly improved dramatically. Caltrain has even upgraded this station and made it brighter and a bit safer for the night. They have fences that block the north and south side train. truthfully, it's dangerous already to try cross the tracks to north or south bound in general, so that is why Caltrain made a sky rise cat walk to go over. Like any other stations, you have to walk around under are over to go north or south bound. Taking short cuts like that can be dangerous. The trains are on time and they also have a small parking lot for commuters. It's obvious an important station or else they would not stop there and it has a decent amount of riders that hop on this location. Overall, it's a good way to get to giants game faster than the light rail from MUNI. Its fun and kids like trains, don't they? Anyhow I am glad we have another type of transportation in this neighborhood and part of town. read more

Caltrain made a horrible decision by restricting service into SF on THE BUSIEST weekend in SF: bluegrass festival, fleet week & Italian heritage parade. Idiots. Thad's all I can say. Not to mention that they gave me NO direction of where to go when stranded in Brisbane, then roped me off inside yellow caution tape and then threatened me for breaking the tape when I gave up on the charade and called an Uber! DO NOT GET OFF HERE AT NIGHT. You get out and there's nothing there and criminals know that so they will harp you. If your ride is late, please don't be be by yourself. You need to be at least with other people that can keep you safe. There are people trafficking that area. You cannot go anywhere without taking another transport because it's deserted. Call UBER before you get there and CALL UBER X and not express or pool. They will not be able to find you sometimes. This is NOT A SAFE AREA. read more

Comparing this station to the last stop 4th/King, it's not as crowded. Literally, there is no sign of people most of the time, and from memory I do not remember seeing many ticket vending machines. Probably just my fail at panaramic perception. I always felt oddly paranoid whenever I got off this station when I was getting picked up from coming home for the weekend. This station is a maze of fences that makes it impossible to get in or out of the station in reasonable time. Further, the use of an overpass instead of a simple ground-level crossing makes it extremely slow to cross from side-to-side. The whole thing would be massively improved if the overpass were leveled and all the chain-link fence removed. The other problem is that there's no reason whatsoever to stop at this station. I've only gone there because I missed the 4th&King train and needed to overtake a moving Caltrain. It's right next to a waste processing facility and nothing else. We could do the taxpayer a service and just eliminate this stop. read more
