We have stayed on the island many times. We did a sister trip and stayed somewhere new Bayshore Resorts!! We allll loved it. And will go back every time in the future! The rooms felt very clean. It was at the very beginning of the season. The pool, hot tub, tiki hut, coffee shop were all closed but the staff was very accommodating. We stored our luggage until time to check in. Also Nick had the fire pit started for us for when we returned so we could enjoy it! We took many photos with the beautiful lake view!! This place is highly recommended!!! This place is terrible. Our first morning there was no cold water...that's right no cold water in the entire hotel. The water in the shower was so hot it was scalding and you could not shower. Brushing your teeth with scalding hot water is fun too. The maintenance man told me he was busy remodeling the 3rd floor and could not get to it. How about the bar, we'll the bartender hardly could speak or understand English. They only had 3 types of beer, they were out of everything else. Our friend ordered a Margarita and they had no mix so the bartender mixed tequila with some other clear alcohol and squirt and charged $12.00. Speaking of charged, this is the only hotel we have stayed at that charged $3.00 for a small coffee and $6.00 for a large, in fact it's first hotel that we have stayed that charged for coffee. You can't complain to the manager because he or she is non existent and was never once on site. And to top it off you better not need anything a night but if you do you can find the night desk clerk at the pool after it's closed with her boyfriend the other bartender, that by the way closed the bar early so he could steal booze and meet his girl friend, the night desk clerk at the pool. We will never stay at this over priced joke of a hotel. Most of the staff should be fired and the owner would know this if he was ever there or gave a crap. read more

The options for accommodations in Put-in-Bay seem fairly limited, especially for large parties, which is how we ended up at Bayshore Resort. Overall, my friends and I had a fine stay here. The best parts were the pool, the poolside bar, and the restaurant. We had a wonderful pool day, lounging in the sun, drinking delicious drinks from the bar, and eating good food from the restaurant. Also I love how the pool is right on the lake. Very pretty and relaxing. There are some areas that could use improvement though. For example, for some reason no one can check in until the clock strikes 3 pm. We arrived at 2:15, checked in, but had to wait in the lobby with our luggage for 45 minutes. No word if the room was ready or not--I guess that doesn't matter-- because no one gets in until 3. Just weird. In addition, the rooms were fine, but nothing amazing. The kitchenette consists of a microwave, a fridge, and a sink but there are no napkins, cutlery, or even dish soap. When we asked the front desk if we could have plates and napkins, the employee made an uncomfortable racial comment that none of us knew how to react too. However, beyond these things, this hotel was perfect for our purposes. read more

Probably the best hotel on the island. It's not fancy but it's clean, quiet and has all the amenities you need to relax. Not a wild hotel like some of the other places. The restaurant is just ok. But the pool and tiki bar are nice. We've stayed here twice. The second time we basically fled here after we tried a different hotel and it was a nightmare (and that's an understatement). Our kids loved it and it was a huge saving grace from a vacation that was on the way to becoming a quick disaster elsewhere! We will definitely only stay here when we come to the island. read more

While this may be a nice property the rules will make you feel like you are 2 years old and visiting a distant relative and when your parents tell you everything you can't do. Upon check in you will notice the signs about no outside alcohol. Our philosophy was out of sight, out of mind. If your renting a cart their rules also suck ass. Cart keys must be picked up at 8:30 AM and returned by 10:30 PM. This is the first time I've encountered this at PIB. We previously stated at the PIB resort and we kept our keys all week. They are constantly watching you while on the grounds. While this may be a nicer property I would rather stay someplace that doesn't treat me like I'm two years old and still in diapers. read more

Outstanding staff, comfortable lakeside resort with an excellent restaurant and tiki bar. Near everything. My wife and I did breakfast for four of the five mornings on our honeymoon and were very pleased. Downside, the tiki bar did not open in time one day, which put a crimp in our lunch plans that day and the WiFi is flakey. The former is someone late for work. (It happens, and Mariah the bartender still rocks!) The latter might be fixed by using Google for wireless. Overall, we'll probably be back. Comfortable, friendly, and efficient. Love the screened in balcony so we could open the windows at night and hear the waves. I feel like the grout in the shower could have been cleaner, and more amenities like coffee or continental breakfast would be nice. And the TV is too small. But I like the pools and poolside tiki bar. I'd definitely stay again, but it won't be a five-star "resort" until they step up the amenities. read more

For the most part this hotel was good. People tell us it's the best if you want to be away from all the crazy. I was a little harsh before with the stars, but I still stand by what happened. We went there last year in October. There was dried blood on a pillow & splashed on the trash can in the bathroom. We told the front desk, & they never made an effort to fix the issue. If someone bleeds all over the room I would expect it to be cleaned up. I don't think it should just be hidden by flipping the pillow. Clearly they are charging for the view. read more

A few things.... - This is the best your going to get on the island....seriously. - The place is clean - The staff is friendly although one of the staff members was taking a hard core nap at 6:30 am when I was hoping to find a bag a of pretzels to wash my pills down with. He looked way to peaceful to wake him up so I let him continue snoring. With all that said, it's just not what I'm used to. You almost feel like you need to get completely blatto to sleep on the beds. If you like sleeping on concrete with a rock to support your head, then look no further. Maybe I'm just too old for PIB these days. That isn't the Bayshore's fault, but I guess sometimes you end up being collateral damage. read more

I just returned from a 3 night vacation on the weekend of July 16-18. I traveled with 3 other guys, all in our mid 20's. I was very skeptical after reading all of the negative reviews, but we had no other choice as most of the hotels on the island were at 100%. So, we went in expecting nothing great. We were wrong. I am using this review to demystify some of the myths and point our the pros and cons. First, debunking the myths: Perhaps the biggest myth is the no alcohol policy. There is an accordance that states that you cannot have alcohol of your own on premise. This is evident in the hotel. We brought ours in our luggage, stored it in our drawers so the maids wouldn't steal it (I am not sure, though, that if we left it out if they would have even cared!). After speaking with the nighttime security guard, he told us it was okay. Actually, to paraphrase, he quoted the "out of sight, out of mind" motto. So no worries there. Cons: -Maybe pricey for what you get, but then again, compared to most hotels on the island, I hear this is one of the nicest. - Pool sometimes ran out of towels once it got busy out Pros: -Great, great view of the lake -Tiki bar was fairly priced (~3.00 A BEER, $4.00 MIXED drink) -Relaxing, yet still fun, atmosphere -Literally a 2 minute walk to Delaware St. (the main drag) -Clean, well appointed This hotel/resort will do just fine if you want to have a great time in PIB, yet not be around partiers 24/7. I am incredibly disappointed with the customer service at this hotel. I checked in on a Thursday, and was informed that I was booked for four rooms instead of the three we needed. I had booked two large suites in January, and then called back in April to add a third room. In that same conversation in April, I confirmed that there were three total rooms on the reservation. Today we called on our way into town and again confirmed reservations for three rooms under two names. Both times the three rooms were confirmed. However when I checked in I was informed that there were four rooms instead. And that it was my mistake for not realizing this and that I would be out the deposit for the fourth room that we did not need nor would use. Now, I completely understand the hotel's concern for losing potential money. However It was implied that I was lying, that a confirmation was sent, and because they had held the room since January, they would not be refunding any money. I cannot prove that I didn't receive a confirmation. I cannot prove that I verbally confirmed three rooms - thus I was stuck. They're only solution was to see if they could rent out the room and only if that happened they would refund the deposit. Which of course did not happen. But above all else, was the way I was treated during these conversations. There was no kindness during my interactions with the employees. I had no opportunity to speak with the manager as they were not even on the premise and were not there at any point in time during our four day stay. At no point in time was the manager made available to me to speak with. When we left, we asked for the manager to contact us by the next business day to discuss - which never happened. I have never experienced such poor customer service. Anywhere. Ever. In addition to that experience, our group was never greeted when we came in and out of the hotel. The air conditioning didn't work in one of our rooms for a full 24 hours; and those staying in that room had to request help/service three times before someone came to fix it. Once they came to fix it, it worked fine. The rest of the hotel was nice enough. The rooms have a great view. The beds and pillows are adequate but the wifi was basically nonexistent. The pools are in good condition. And the tiki bar is great - the two bartenders that we ordered with were friendly, personable, fast, and great. It's in a fantastic location to downtown. Overall, this should have been an amazing stay. However all of this was overshadowed by the way I and our group was treated earlier. In the end, even if we would have always been out the deposit, I could have been treated and spoken to with more kindness, sincerity, and integrity. Not a good stay for the price. The beds are beyond uncomfortable to say the least. The bedding is also just not what I would expect for 209.00 a night. the air is a wall unit that has to be continuously turned on and off and if very noisy when it is on. I think there is a total of 12 channels to watch from their dish network service. Then internet is a joke. The view of the lake is nice and the tiki bar out by the lake is a great place to have a drink, but next time I will be staying else where and stop by for a drink. speaking of drinks, it is true that there are signs stating the you can not bring in any outside alcohol. This is our first stop at PIB but this will be our last stay at this so called resort. Just a word about the staff, everyone that I have encounter has been pleasant but it does not make up the the lack of comfort. read more

We have been coming here with family for about 15 years and our group usually gets at least 4 rooms for the weekend. This place has really gone downhill and the people working here, especially at the front desk and taking reservations and money have a very weird vibe about them. We know they have a cancellation policy and we were told that it was 6 days when we made a reservation. One of our sons could not make it on the Friday night part of their room reservation that we had reserved, due to his wife, who works with special needs kids not able to get off till late Friday afternoon. We called six days ahead of time and told them we needed to cancel their reservation or just keep the Saturday night part. They were beyond rude and told us it was a 7 day cancellation. Spoke with a "manager" who enjoyed arguing with me on the phone and refused to cancel it and said they would keep our money that they charged to our credit card when we made the reservation. Told him he had an opportunity to keep a good customer or make an unhappy ex-customer. They charged us for the empty room night and we will not be going back. I would be willing to overlook some of the other negative things about this place if they at least had decent management, but unfortunately they have no concern for customer service. It is a quieter place just outside of downtown and could be nice for families, like some other reviews stated. It has a pool overlooking the lake with a small tiki bar, but this place needs new ownership, new management and some serious remodeling to make it a nicer inviting place to stay for $250 per room per night. The people at the front desk don't smile or say hello and are all about reminding you of silly rules and hotel policies. We tried to rent a couple golf carts at 8:45 am, but their rule is rentals start at 9 am and they made 3 of us stand and wait at the front desk for 15 minutes before they would rent the carts. The place has not been updated or maintained well for several years now. The beds are horrible and uncomfortable. Carpet, furniture and bathrooms are dirty and at least 15 years old. Internet doesn't work. They have a rule that you cannot bring any alcohol into your room or anywhere from the outside into the hotel, which adds to the money hungry management experience. Hopefully the owners here will sell the place to someone who knows customer service, with some management skills who is willing to maintain the place. read more

This was our second stay on the island, and we are very glad to have found this hotel. Our entire experience was very positive and we will make reservations here again on all future trips, especially if we continue to have the same type of service. All staff were very friendly, accommodating and resourceful. The view is spectacular! The bar was good, but unfortunately, due to the time of the year that we stayed during this trip, the pools and hot tub were closed. We look forward to experiencing them when we return when things are in season. This hotel is conveniently located, as it is within walking distance to most attractions. It is nice that they offer golf carts for rent on their property. Since they do have a liquor license and a bar on the premises, they do have a no alcohol policy, which we found to not be a problem. Even though their website states no coolers permitted, they said that they recently changed this policy and did allow us to carry our own cooler into the room, which made it nice for having cold drinks available on hand and a place to put medicines that need to be kept cold and also for keeping left-overs safe for eating next day. The balcony is screened in and has a table and chairs on it so that you can sit outside your room and enjoy the view without worrying about bugs flying about. The rooms were very clean and welcoming, and the bathroom was huge. read more

Ended up staying at Bayshore resort as a result of all the other hotels were booked. Now that my birthday trip to P.I.B is over, I know why they still had available rooms left. First off, after checking in (we arrived on 6/27/2014) and was staying two nights, we went to our vehicle to get our luggage, and even had the doorman gladly hold the door open for us with a smile, how nice we thought. Oh, but he was truly smiling on the inside because he knew what was about to happen. We enter the hotel to have "hotel security", start explaining their "No outside alcohol policy" and that he would have to "take our cooler,until we were checking out" which is all a part of their business plan to get you drinking in their bar/ restaurant. I'm only elaborating about this first, because SO many people like to bring, and have "pre" cocktails. So, don't let any outside liquor be visible. Second MUST know about Bayshore Resort.. IF for some reason you try having ANYONE in your room that wasn't verified during check in' this ISN'T happening!! Long story short, if you have other friends also visiting the island while you are,and you try taking them up to your room.. BOOM! Theirs "Hotel security guy" (whom I think works 20 hour days) waiting to stop you and your guest to have them "wait" for you in the lobby while you do what you need to in the room. Bummer! While speaking to another guest who was also having issues, she said "I feel like I'm being treated like a child" and wow. She is right!! I understand the resort trying to be "family like" but honestly, more people come to PIB, for adult fun, then family fun. Happy note; The house cleaner was the most awesome person we met at the hotel, because she was happy to keep the talk going about the "dickheads" she worked for. Hahaha! Bayshore, you really get people suckered in, who have no other choice but to pay for your overpriced, CONTROLLING, hotel that is known around the island for your "stupid rules"!! read more

We had a room on the first floor which was perfect for sitting outside on our patio and waking down to the water. The room was clean, service friendly and helpful, and we loved how conveniently located it was. We can't wait to go back! read more

This place is rather pricey. But it seems to be the going rate if you want to stay on the island. With that being said, I've stayed at the bay lodge and the pib resort...... The bayshore is much better. There is something about waking up to a lake view and receiving excellent customer service! The restaurant on site was pretty tasty also! I will definitely stay here again! The only reason they don't get a 5 star rating is because the rooms could use an update and the carpet could use a good scrubbing! There is some weird liquor license policy and you can't bring alcohol onto the premises. read more

We stayed here as a family and asked for joining rooms, but wasn't able to get one as they only have 2 or 3 on the property. It worked out well since we were on the third floor and had beautiful views of the lake and enjoyed watching ships pass. The pools were nice--although they closed early due to the mayfly problem. (There is a HUGE mayfly problem on the island in June) The front desk staff was nice and helpful. The restaurant staff was a little less than stellar--no refills, forgotten toast--things like that. The hotels exterior looks nice, the grounds and the views are beautiful. The rooms are basic. I was hoping the inside of the room was nicer for the price that we paid but I was willing to compromise on the inside for the beautiful view. The bedding was unpleasant. The mattress was hard and I could feel the springs. Very uncomfortable bed and mattress. This is a real deal breaker and I will not stay here again because of the mattress. I've never experienced such a cheap mattress in a hotel. It's pathetic that this hotel can't afford to buy a decent mattress for their guests. It felt like sleeping on bricks. I have been going to this hotel for about 10 years and have always enjoyed myself until this year. We got there and went to our room and the beds were so high I couldn't get in them. I went to the front desk and they did give me a stool to use. I questioned them on why the beds were so high and thats when things went south. Than I questioned them on why they only had CNN and not another news channel like Fox news and Chad told me that they did like what Fox Said and didn't agree with the views of Fox News. So I guess Fox doesn't think like he does so they banned them. Later after Chad left I asked the other girls why not Fox news and they had a half ass answer. I was at the pool and I over heard people talk about Chad and they said they made their reservations in January And wanted to be on the same floor but one in their group was on the second floor. When they questioned Chad about it Chad got mad and told him he better be quite or he would banned from the hotel. When I got Home my phone rung and I answered it and it was Chad. He told me that a chair was missing from my room and if he couldn't find it I would be billed for it. Than he proceeded to tell me that the girl at the front desk said I talked about him and how I acted when I first got there was out on line. Then I said this conversation is over and I hung up. I don't understand why he didn't talk to me before I left because I set In the lobby the night before we left because that was the only place I could get the internet and he just stared at me. My husband and I are in our 70s and are not trouble makers. We loved going their even though there is no refrigerator or microwave or ironing board but Chad and his condescending attitude everything and I no longer enjoy going there. So 1) worst customer service of any establishment ever in 42 years- we arrived & proceeded to check in & at which time a couple that was there in their boat came with us ... BIG MISTAKE...upon heading to our room, we were followed by "security " who POUNDED on our door. & then "claimed" we were "overloading our room" - we tried to clarify that no- they 2 folks were just visiting, but security declared otherwise- he allegedly saw them carrying "baggage" to the room... when our embarrassed guests excused themselves from the room to return to their waiting golf cart they had so kindly rented to bring us to our hotel, we hurried to rejoin them for dinner...we tried to readdress the situation, suggesting perhaps "security" approach was a bit aggressive, we were told to "send a letter to management" & we could "F" ourselves... wow...too bad...definitely won't be returning here with my $$$$ any time soon.... read more

Location - very nice. Price - outrageous for the amenities ($276 per night for king room). 3 couples average age of 59 are not looking to tear up a hotel. Dirty carpet breeds bacteria and disease. After arriving around 11:30 AM we checked in at the hotel and placed our bags in a room until our rooms were available later in the day. We went to the main strip and had lunch and a few drinks and returned to the hotel shortly after 4pm. We had a 50 quart cooler in the car for the 6 of us filled with water, pop and beer that we then brought into the hotel. When we walked away from the front desk there was security asking what we had in the cooler. We were then told there was no outside alcohol allowed inside the building. There are no signs outside warning of this. Had there been we would not have brought this in. I thought this young man was kidding when he said it would be confiscated and returned upon checkout. We questioned his authority to do so and we were told that we would be refunded and we could leave. We told him we would simply return the cooler to the car so that we would have no further issue. We were told we could not do so. It was at this point that I suggested that we call the police but we figured that they would come and tell us we would have to leave - I am sorry that we did not call! At this point we had not even seen the rooms. I asked that the cooler with the pop and water be returned to the room after they remove the beer from the cooler. This did not occur until I went down to the front desk, 30 minutes later, where another security individual was standing over the beerless cooler. I told him that this was to be brought to my room after giving the prior security individual my room number after him telling me he would bring the cooler to me. Now we are having a discussion after walking into the musty smelling rooms among the 3 couples that we can go elsewhere and find accommodations where they don't have such a poor attitude. By the way there is an ice bucket and glasses on the bath counter - I see no other purpose than this is to enjoy a cocktail in the privacy of your paid hotel room. So it is at this point that we decide we will leave the hotel and go elsewhere. The individual that secured the reservation for the three rooms went to the front desk to tell them we were going to leave and it was then they told us that would be fine but we would forfeit our deposit of $717 as well as the balance paid at check in of $900 plus - are these people for real! At this point we are truly considering walking away from $1600 plus because we are expecting more misery to come. We went out and returned after dinner around 9 o'clock - it would be now that we would likely gather at one of the 1st floor patios to enjoy a glass of wine - a beer and one of the couples would share a cigar. We travel with these couples every year, near and far and have never ever been treated with such disrespect as was shown to us. The following morning I got up and made a pot of coffee in the room - walking around in my bare feet - I proceeded to take a shower, placed the bath mat in front of the shower and after showering noticed a big black footprint from when I got into the shower. My wife having white slippers with a leather type sole, so that she did not walk bare footed threw them out after returning home since she did want to walk around our house with them. During our 2 days in put in bay, people were extremely friendly and talkative - after sharing our experience with others staying at other hotels as well as local law enforcement we were told that there are no laws or similar enforcement at other hotels on the island. We have stayed at this hotel on numerous occasions and have never had a problem with the staff. But unfortunately, this hotel needs to work on their customer service. We called to cancel our reservation and it was 7 days prior to our arrival date (keep in mind check in is at 3 p.m.) however the woman "Debbie" told us that we called on day 6 and would have to pay the non refundable fee. When I originally asked to speak to a manager, she told me that I would have to call back after 5 p.m., later in the conversation she told me that she was the manager. I understand that you have policies but when a customer calls on the 7th day you should be able to cancel your reservation without any issues or hassle. Terrible customer service!!!
