This has the potential to be a really nice hotel, but it needs some better management. It's very loud there's only a few rooms per floor and you can hear the elevator every time it dings. The rooftop bar was kind of pleasant. The taco restaurant we waited an hour to get some chips and salsa, completely unacceptable they were out of chicken they were out of steak they were out of everything on a Sunday night. This is justA really nice part of town it's too bad this is not a better hotel for 300+ a night it should be exceptional in Sandusky Ohio.

Street view from our room in front of the hotel.

We visited Sandusky Ohio last month in February for our birthday weekend getaway. We live just over an hour away and wanted to explore the area. Usually Sandusky is a great summer destination for us because we love Cedar Point amusement park. But there are still things to do here in the winter as well. The hotel staff that greeted us were so nice and went above and beyond to make us feel at home. Thank you to Nicole and Risey. The hotel is quaint and has only 4 rooms per floor with a penthouse on the third floor. Our room was decorated beautifully with exposed brick behind the bed. The hotel featured a Mexican restaurant, a favorite for us. We will definitely come back and stay again!

Gorgeous, small hotel with a great location. I stayed for 3 nights and picked Hotel Kilbourne because it's near a lot and I was a sucker for the brick wall decor and knew there wouldn't be a bunch of families staying there. Pros: The staff is very friendly and I loved the room. Comfy bed, large TV, nespresso machine, very clean, amazing waterfall shower and a lot of extra towels. It is right on the water so even if you don't have a lake view room, it's just a short walk and it's near a lot of bars and restaurants. Amazing rooftop access, you can even see Cedar Point! Free coffee and tea in the lobby in the morning. Cons: Our city view was actually a few of the parking lot so if possible, try to get the lake view! You could hear everything happening outside of the hotel as well as next to and above you. Very thin walls so if you need quiet, this probably isn't the place for you. Our pillows smelled HORRIBLE. I'm not sure if it was just a fluke but they honestly smelled like fart. We took off the pillow covers and that helped. The last con was just that there wasn't very much information about the rooftop bar. We were never sure of the hours and when we wanted to go, it was always insanely crowded so I wish we could have experienced that. All in all, I would stay again but not 100% sure it's worth the price unless you get a lake view!

This place is really chic and cute. The brick walls and modern bathroom accompanied by a large shower makes the place really fun to stay. However, it sounds better than it is. The rooftop bar is small and can become crowded fast, as well as the restaurant on the main floor. This makes getting to your room a hassle when a lot of people are around. When your room is directly below the bar, expect a very noisy experience. The shower head was gross and didn't look like it had been cleaned in a while. I didn't mean to remove the sheet that covered the mattress, but I'm glad I did. Why is this hotel still using this mattress cover if it's obviously stained with urine? Why is this acceptable? Can't say I'm surprised, it's an average hotel. Can't expect "too" clean.

Reviews were great so we quickly pulled the trigger! Check in process was super simple. You can check in on the app and you can actually pick your room. Since we have never stayed here before, we didn't have a preference so we let them pick. We quickly verified the ID at the front desk and we were on our way to our room. Receptionist were both very friendly and even offered us waters. They do have hot coffee and hot water for tea/hot chocolate available 24/7 in the lobby. They also have a 24/7 store at the desk with sooo many snacks and drink options! They have multiple TVs, sittting areas and shuffle board/foosball in the lobby, which we saw lots of people enjoying. Our room was spacious. Plenty of room for storage. It smelled fresh and clean. The shower was perfect size, just wish the water was a bit warmer. My boyfriend has been raving about the hand soap since the second he tried it (it's a great scent!). They have hand soap, body lotion, conditioner, shampo, body wash all hanging on the wall for your convenience. Our king bed was very comfy and the AC worked perfectly in our room. The breakfast was probably the best hotel breakfast I have ever eaten. So many options! I opt for the cheese egg omelets, sausage patties, and pancakes. Plenty of toppings for your pancakes, as well as toppings for yogurt and oatmeal too. Large variety of breads and carbs. It was perfect before a long day at Cedar Point! All staff was so nice and welcoming during our entire stay. Pet friendly!

The views were amazing from every angle and direction you looked. 2 pools and hot tubs. Indoor pool and outdoor pool. Game room. 4 different places to eat. A few bars. Beach access and activities. I would love to go back for a day and not even go to the park but just enjoy the hotel and its amenities. I do want to point out one thing that was kinda frustrating for us. The guy who checked us in told us that the pools closed at 9 but the hot tubs closed at 11. That didn't make sense to us. So we left the park early so our kids could play in the pool just to find out they're both open until 11. Both pools and both the pools and hot tubs. That caused us to take time away from the park when we didn't actually need to. The park closed at 10. It didn't make sense for the pool to close at 9. It also didn't make sense that the hot tubs which are in the same area would be open until 11 but not the pools. While we only stayed 1 day here, we spent Saturday evening-Monday afternoon at the park. Had we only been there for one day, and been given wrong information about the pool times and left the park early for the pool when we didn't need to, I would have been more frustrated. Everything else is and was amazing

I have to give a special shoutout to Kayla who was awesome checking us in! The amenities are pretty good, with an indoor pool, fitness center, free breakfast, and a little snack area to buy items. Our room had a mini fridge, which I always appreciate to keep my water cold. The shower didn't drain well, but the bed was comfy. The room was a bit loud, but I sleep with earplugs so that doesn't really bother me. Our room had a door to the next room, which I always think is kind of weird if you're not with a group that you are traveling with, but we didn't have any issues. We could definitely hear people in the adjoining room talking, though. The location is nice and super easy to get downtown, plus you have a huge entertainment complex right next door with bowling, a bar, sports book, laser tag, etc. There was plenty of parking in the lot when we were there.

The good: Waterpark and room were clean. The staff were all super friendly and helpful. Kids really enjoyed themselves (10 and 14). There are lots of restaurant options within 3-5 miles to fit any budget. The majority of lifeguards took their jobs seriously and enforced rules. It was less expensive than other indoor waterparks. Room fridge was great for storing snacks and drinks. Nearly everywhere in the hotel is crazy loud, but, the craft room was a great place to take a sensory break and slow down for a bit. The area by the aquarium on the third floor was also quieter often. There was a seating area for reading and tables available for boardgames with a view of the bay. The bad: We waited in line at 4:15 pm for a half an hour to just check in. They had a line of people filling the entire lobby with 4 staff checking people in. It was not streamlined at all. The changing room did not have a curtain or door on it. Nor did the bunk room. The only place to change privately was the small room off the bathroom with toilet and shower. Walls are paper thin. You will hear everything going on in the hall and the rooms around yours. We also happened to be right off the elevator bank which added a whole new level of noise. Elevators are slow and tiny. With luggage, you can fit 3-4 people tops. We chose the stairs almost every time despite our room being located on the 3rd floor right next to the elevators. That said, the stairwells are super loud as it's all metal and cement/concrete. Large attractions do close. The wave pool was closed half the day Saturday which was our kids favorite thing. You need a special card for any arcade, bowling, or golfing you do and that's an extra $3 charge plus what you load onto it. They have cute character "room doors" throughout the hallways. These are often right next to a room door and kids will push the buttons to make them talk all day/night. So many of the areas were unnecessarily loud. You couldn't hear anyone speak in the arcade or waterpark. Stairwells were like banging on metal drums while they echoed between 4 floors. The ugly: Their mini golf (albeit it glow course) is highway robbery. $10 per person (despite being told it was $6 by staff) and only 8 holes. The 9th hole was just putting your ball up a ramp into their skee-ball cup. If you mad it a fun sound went off, if you didn't, it collected it and played a failed sound. Our "bay view" window was COVERED in bird poop and cobwebs on the exterior side. The entire side of the building was filthy to look at. I would not suggest paying extra for the view. This might have been a one off experience in the activity pool but the one time we tried it, I had teenagers tackling me from behind as they fought over basketballs. I was pushed over multiple times by them when they crashed into me (and others in the pool) and nothing was done about it by parents or lifeguards. My kiddo and I eventually left because the ball he and another younger kid were playing with kept getting takin by the teens. Overall, it was a cheaper room option than other places but I'm not sure we'll be going back again. The extra fees for everything else adds up quick and sleep was nearly impossible with the noise level around our room.

I'll start off by saying that the water park, itself, is very nice. The arcade is also nice and spacious, with a great variety of games that seem well-maintained. However, there's some issues that really detract from the experience. Customer service was my biggest gripe. The check in guy was pretty cold at first, but later he was more helpful. I was especially disappointed with the snack bar staff. The water park snack bar is in a dimly-lit corner, and when I went in, there was no one visibly working there. After a minute, a lady came out from the back, and I asked if the snack bar was open at that time. She gave me a condescending look, and didn't say anything, as if I should obviously expect the location to be open, despite the lack of an open sign or employee behind the counter. Then another guy comes out and starts making the order and neither him nor his coworker talked at all, just kinda scowled and made my partner and I feel like we were doing something wrong just by being respectful paying customers. They were the kind of workers I'd expect to see at a run-down McDonald's late at night, not a family vacation resort. The hotel itself is also nothing special. The beds are small and not particularly comfy, but the rooms are clean and nice enough. But the walls are THIN and you hear way too much noise from other guests. Overall: good waterpark+okay hotel+bad staff=mixed experience
