However, Marshall is not a wise, safe, trustworthy option for women's trauma treatment. Women coping with CSA, rape, or other serious assault that requires staged treatment, good attunement and emotional empathy, as well as skills at containment/ safe holding environment should choose a different clinician. PTSD from a car accident or the battlefield is simply different from some other forms of trauma, and this is where Marshall can be both insensitive and double down on cognitive methods that stress his position of top down authority. I saw Marshall twice a week for several years, for some of that time 90 minutes twice per week. I worked hard, and it was my first time in therapy. This was an enormous investment of trust, time, a challenge for financial resources, and sincere, earnest effort. Unfortunately, It did far more harm than good, with trauma re-experienced rather than resolved. Marshall is more invested in being right than in the welfare of patients. I am very lucky to have moved on to a specialist better trained in this specific niche, and far more compassionate in this specific area.
